When Hu Zhenghao returned, he only saw the twins.
“Brother Wang Xing was taken away by his father.”
Hu Zhenghao didn't pay much attention when he heard this. He had a lot of homework, and he only came out to find his younger brother after finishing his homework at home.
"Come on, I'll take you swimming. The swimming pool is open again!"
Hu Zhenghao told the twins the good news, which immediately diverted their attention.
When they arrived at the swimming pool, Hu Zhenghao's classmates were already waiting; everyone arrived around the same time.
"Let's have a competition today to see who can hold their breath underwater the longest! Whoever wins is the boss! How about it?"
A group of kids started jeering, vying to be the leader. This was very important to them; fighting would get them beaten up in the compound, and as for studying, that was simply impossible! They hated other people's kids the most.
"Wow! If I win, can I become your leader too?"
Li Wu got excited; he wanted to be the boss! Just thinking about how everyone would listen to him was so exhilarating!
"You little brat want to be the boss? Forget it, it's definitely not going to be you. Zheng Hao is the more likely candidate."
Hu Zhenghao's classmate said with a laugh.
"Hmph, don't underestimate me, I'll compete with you all!"
Li Wu was dissatisfied, but fearing it was unfair, he picked up his two legs and ran in one direction.
"Liwu, where are you going?"
Hu Zhenghao panicked and quickly called out.
"I'll go find Grandpa Liao to be the referee!"
He's not a big person, but he's very good at making grand pronouncements.
Upon hearing this, Commander Liao burst into laughter and actually followed.
"You guys are going to have a contest to see who can hold their breath underwater the longest. Whoever wins is the boss. Have you agreed on the rules?"
"It's settled! Whoever holds their breath the longest is the boss!"
"Okay, then I'll be the referee for you."
General Liao laughed and took out a whistle. The children warmed up their hands and feet and then jumped into the water to prepare.
Aren't you going down?
Commander Liao glanced at Hu Zhenghao.
"I'll help you see who wins."
Hu Zhenghao had a wicked smile on his lips.
"Yeah, Zhenghao, why don't you come down?"
Hu Zhenghao's classmates were all curious.
"I... I can't bully the weak. I'll compete with you again next time. You're only competing today, right? There will be other opportunities in the future. There are so many people, Grandpa Liao can't watch them all by himself. I'll help."
Hu Zhenghao was very serious, and everyone thought it made sense; it was good to have one less competitor.
Li Wen also sat next to Commander Liao. Everyone knew he was quiet, so no one thought anything of it.
As the whistle blew, the children sank into the water one by one.
The participants ranged in age from young to old, and some were just there for fun. They would sink in for a short while, then splash around and lie on the edge of the pool watching others.
Almost every second, someone was struggling to get out of the water and gasping for breath. After a minute, only five children remained in the water, including Li Wu.
At one and a half minutes, two more came up, panting heavily.
Almost two minutes later, another head popped up. I thought I had won, but I didn't expect there was someone else in the water.
Two minutes later, it became clear that someone in the water was about to drown.
"Whoosh~ Whoosh~ Whoosh~"
Suddenly, another person appeared.
"Wow, that kid really won! Why isn't he coming up yet?"
Everyone stared in shock at Li Wu in the water, and even Commander Liao walked to the edge of the pool to try and pull him out.
Two and a half minutes, almost three minutes, Li Wu suddenly stood up.
"Hahaha! I won! Whew! I won!"
Li Wu got up and laughed heartily, his panting not stopping his cheers.
