It was so hot that day that Shen Xianjun couldn't help but turn over, breathing softly, his gaze fixed on Qin Nian in the darkness.
Yang Yufen was awakened by the noise in the courtyard. She put on her shoes and went outside. It was just getting light, and the sun hadn't risen yet, but she recognized who was in the courtyard at a glance.
"Taking a cold shower first thing in the morning, serves you right, you don't know how to coax your wife after you got married."
When Yang Yufen saw that it was Shen Xianjun, she said something disdainfully and turned to go to the kitchen. She was already awake, so she made breakfast for the children.
"Mom, it's just too hot."
Shen Xianjun explained.
"Hmm, it's hot, so you have a lot of energy. Chop some firewood later, so you won't have any energy to waste."
After Yang Yufen finished speaking, she went into the kitchen. Shen Xianjun touched his nose, thought about his allowance, and then went back to his room to change his clothes.
Qin Nian opened her eyes and saw a broad and tall figure, shirtless, rummaging through clothes in front of the wardrobe.
With broad shoulders and a narrow waist, his body, radiating health from years of exercise, has firm muscles.
Shen Xianjun turned around upon hearing the sound, holding the vest he had just found in his hand.
Did I wake you up? Why don't you go back to sleep?
The man stood with his back to the window, where the sun was rising and its light shone through the window onto him.
Qin Nian unconsciously swallowed, then calmly spoke.
"You're up so early, why is your hair still wet?"
After Qin Nian finished speaking, her mind raced so fast that she wished she could cover her mouth.
"Ahem, it's hot, I sweated a lot while sleeping. Um, I'll go chop some wood."
Shen Xianjun quickly put on his vest and went outside, while Qin Nian pulled the blanket over her face.
After a long while, Qin Nian finally put the blanket down. She wondered what she was thinking back then. In the dark, they got their marriage certificate, and the two of them acted like they were doing a mission.
Shen Xianjun suddenly reappeared inside the house.
"Um, we're husband and wife, right? Yeah, you don't dislike me. I... I like you. I know about family planning. We have one and two children, and I'm very content. I'll go and apply for family planning supplies. Um, can you agree to that?"
Shen Xianjun had almost reached the kitchen when, for some reason, he remembered his mother's words that all his energy was wasted, so he turned back.
The door wasn't closed, so Shen Xianjun naturally saw Qin Nian's actions.
Qin Nian's face flushed bright red instantly, unable to believe what she was hearing.
"Um, I'll go help Mom."
Upon seeing Qin Nian's reaction, Shen Xianjun burst into laughter like a fool, chuckled, and left, thoughtfully closing the door behind him.
Qin Nian lay down in the blanket and took several deep breaths before calming down.
She doesn't dislike it, but it seems a bit out of control, and she doesn't know what to do.
When Yang Yufen saw Shen Xianjun walk in, grab an axe and go out to chop wood, looking rather silly with his cheerful expression, her eyebrows twitched slightly.
Li Wu and Li Wen woke up not long after, quickly folded the blankets neatly and got dressed before realizing that they had already gone home.
"Brush your teeth and wash your face as soon as you wake up. Don't think you can be lazy just because you're home. Get up and go for a morning run."
Shen Xianjun made arrangements for the two children, and Li Wu and Li Wen didn't think anything of it; they had gotten used to it over time.
After the children finished washing up, Shen Xianjun took them out for morning exercise.
Seeing that the porridge was cooked and the buns were done, Yang Yufen moved the firewood aside and went to knock on Qin Nian's door.
"Niannian, Mom has something to do today. Are you free today?"
"What's wrong, Mom?"
Qin Nian quickly opened the door.
"The two kids have grown taller recently, and their shoes are too small. You and Xianjun should take them to buy clothes and shoes. Xianjun has to go back to the unit tonight."
