Xiao Ranran turned around and saw Qin Nian clutching her stomach in pain.
"Niannian, what's wrong? Teacher, Niannian is feeling unwell."
Almost as soon as Xiao Ranran called out "Niannian", everyone's eyes were already focused on Qin Nian.
"Take him to the hospital!"
Dean Hu spoke up without hesitation.
Yang Yufen waited at the entrance of the research institute. Why was her daughter-in-law getting off work later than usual today?
Just then, I suddenly saw a group of people anxiously walking out.
"Nian Nian!"
Yang Yufang spotted Qin Nian, who was being protected in the middle.
"Niannian has a stomachache, and we are about to take her to the hospital."
Dean Hu spoke, and then Yang Yufen stepped forward and picked Qin Nian up! She picked her up!
"Mom, I can walk by myself."
Qin Nian was very embarrassed.
Unfortunately, Yang Yufen wouldn't listen. She put the person on the tricycle and, without waiting for Dean Hu and the others to react, pushed off and headed towards the Third People's Hospital.
By the time Dean Hu arrived, Yang Yufen had already arranged for Qin Nian to be admitted to the hospital.
"How is Niannian, her mother-in-law?"
"The doctor said it was probably caused by too much stress and fatigue. He said I need to rest well and have the tests done tomorrow. But I'm worried that it might not be safe, so I won't go back tonight. It'll be better to have the tests done first thing tomorrow morning."
Yang Yufen didn't complain, but Dean Hu was quite embarrassed.
"The data is now complete, with just a few finishing touches left. Let Niannian take an early holiday to rest and recuperate. We'll discuss everything after the New Year."
"Yes, teacher."
Qin Nian nodded.
Professor Wen arrived later, and Yang Yufen asked him to stay with her while she went back and brought two more quilts to keep her company.
At night, Yang Yufen heard Qin Nian turn over again and couldn't help but sigh.
"What's wrong? Can't sleep?"
"Mom, did I disturb you? I'm sorry."
Qin Nian apologized.
There were no other patients in the ward, so Dean Hu went to the doctor to help arrange it.
"Mom, I'm sorry, it's my fault for not taking good care of her..."
Qin Nian bit her lip and spoke.
"Why are you apologizing to me? Your body is your own, and you are yourself first. Women hold up half the sky. You work hard and are responsible, and you are worthy of the country. You did not abandon me, your mother-in-law, because of your husband's disappearance. You are worthy of your marriage."
In the darkness, Qin Nian couldn't see Yang Yufen's face, but Yang Yufen's words echoed in her mind again and again.
"Go to sleep. You'll be doing a disservice to your body if you don't get proper rest."
"Mom, can I hold your hand while I sleep?"
Qin Nian suddenly spoke up, and then felt a rough, large hand grasp hers.
Qin Nian suppressed a smile, slowly closed her eyes, but clenched her hands tightly behind her back.
The next morning, the doctor came to examine him, his brow furrowed repeatedly.
"I suggest you have an ultrasound to check for any issues. The pregnant woman is in pretty good health and there's nothing wrong."
Yang Yufen didn't know what an ultrasound was, but the doctor said to do it, so Yang Yufen went and paid the money directly, while Qin Nian was filled with unease and suspicion.
