Chapter 50 Do You Remember Me? (2/2)

With more people, things move faster, and with vehicles available, they managed to bring everything over in two trips.

"While everyone's here, let's fix the outhouse too. You guys dig the hole, I'll go haul the bricks. I'll treat you to dinner tomorrow night."

Hu Jun didn't waste any time. He immediately noticed that the new house didn't have a toilet and knew that Qin Nian would be starting work soon. So he took his people and got to work. The tools were readily available, and if they weren't enough, they brought some from Aunt Wang's house.

"Thank you for your trouble, brother."

Qin Nian was surprised that the people who came not only helped with the move, but also helped repair the yard.

"Everyone, have some water."

Qin Nian came out carrying a thermos; luckily, she had plenty of bamboo cups at home.

"Thank you, sister."

"Qin girl, stay away, or I'll get you."

Lin Hui, all smiles, was the last to come over for a drink, and he drank two cups in a row.

Yang Yufen came out of the kitchen and happened to see this scene, so she stopped in her tracks.

Hmm, this kid has ulterior motives. He's all smiles, but his ears are red. While others just say thank you, drink their water, and get on with their work, this kid says a few more words, deliberately ending up last.

If Niannian weren't his daughter-in-law, I would say that this guy works hard and is good at his job. He must be quite capable to be with Niannian's older brother. He's also good-looking, tall and strong. I would even like to play matchmaker for him.

It's a pity.

"Niannian, Dabao and Erbao should be waking up soon."

"Okay, Mom, I'll go check on Aunt Wang right now."

Qin Nian placed the thermos aside so that anyone who was thirsty could easily get some water.

Lin Hui looked at Yang Yufen and received a smile from her; her expression showed nothing amiss.

Hu Jun quickly returned with his things. The latrine and the sewer were dug, and the pipes were laid and the soil was filled in—all in no time.

By the time the five o'clock bell rang, the outhouse was already taking shape.

"You've worked hard today, Nian Nian's older brother. Take these back with you and treat us to a meal later."

Yang Yufen packed a cured chicken, a cured fish, and some dried bamboo shoots she had sun-dried herself and handed them to Hu Jun.

"Okay, Auntie will go to Niannian's house later. I'll take her home first."

Hu Jun didn't stand on ceremony, reached out and took the things, then shouted, and everyone quickly climbed into the car.

"Mom, put a table here, we can use it to store things later."

Yao Yao is back. The twins are playing with Yao Yao next door. Qin Nian points to a spot.

Yang Yufen didn't think much of it; it just so happened that the old furniture she had replaced in Qin Nian's room would have a place to go.

Judging that it was about time, Yang Yufen carried a basket of vegetables and led the people towards the Hu family's house.

"Grandma, please recite it."

"Sister-in-law, let me help."

Seeing Zhou Ang with her pregnant belly going into the kitchen, Qin Nian quickly rolled up her sleeves and went to help.

"Xiao Zhou, Niannian, you two watch the child. I'll go and take care of it with your mother-in-law."

Yang Yufen carried a vegetable basket into the kitchen and happened to help Professor Wen chase the two of them out.

"In-laws, what dishes are you planning to make?"

Yang Yufen was incredibly quick and efficient at it.

"There's fish and shrimp. The fish is steamed, and the shrimp is simply stir-fried. Old Hu made a roast duck. He really liked the stir-fried bamboo shoots and cured chicken you made last night, but unfortunately I don't know how to cook it."

"That's easy. I just happened to bring some bamboo shoots with me. They've been soaked, so we can stir-fry them anytime."
