The roads in the residential compound are kept very clean, so there's no need to worry about stepping into snow. People wear thick clothes when they go out, so they're not afraid of getting hurt if they fall.
Qin Nian couldn't help but laugh when she saw the three children, one big and two small, looking like penguins, and her mood improved as a result.
When I got home, I was surprised to find that my mother-in-law had already prepared the meal.
"Hao Hao is here. We're having hot pot today."
"Hello Grandma Yang, I'll be staying here tonight with my two younger brothers!"
Hu Zhenghao spoke up happily.
"Alright, alright, come on, everyone wash your hands and get ready to eat."
Yang Yufen was used to the liveliness of children, and after a day without seeing them and having nothing else to do, she missed them quite a bit.
“My son had a bad cough and my sister-in-law took him to the hospital. Only Zhenghao and his wife are at home.”
Qin Nian spoke up to explain.
"Oh, okay. Hao Hao can stay at your aunt's house for now. Niannian, there are still some pears at home. I'll make some pear soup and you can take it over. Both adults and children can drink some; it's good for the lungs. Children are indeed prone to illness when they're young. My two children were like that when they were little too."
Yang Yufen turned around and went to get the pears.
"Mom, I'll do it. Just tell me what to do and I'll do it."
"That's simple. Just wash the pears, cut them open, add jujubes, rock sugar, and some water, then put them in the stove. It just takes a long time."
As Yang Yufen spoke, she quickly finished the task with her hands.
"Okay, Mom, I'll take care of it tomorrow."
Unable to get involved, Qin Nian read it and found it wasn't difficult, so she memorized it.
The three children washed their hands and sat down obediently.
Hot pot is very simple. Yang Yufen prepared some of the vegetables available in the shed, and put them in a pot of chicken soup. It's perfect for cold weather.
After dinner, Qin Nian went to deliver pear soup, and Hu Jun and his wife also returned.
"Mom said Hao Hao went to your place. That kid is a handful, so you'll have to keep an eye on him."
"This is pear soup. My mother-in-law said it can soothe the lungs when the child has a cough. Hao Hao is actually very much like an older brother. He can not only play with the older and younger children, but he is also very obedient."
"Thank you for your trouble, Mother-in-law. I was thinking of buying some pears to boil in water, but I was too busy and missed it after get off work."
Zhou Ang was surprised by Yang Yufen's thoughtfulness.
The mother-in-law was also busy and helped take care of Hao Hao, who was on vacation. Zhou Ang was worried that the mother-in-law was too tired, so she took Xiao Bao to the hospital.
"Leave Xiaobao at home tomorrow, and you can go to work."
Professor Wen spoke up, saying that if Hao Hao were at home, she really wouldn't be able to take care of both children, since the baby was still breastfeeding and Hao Hao had too much energy.
"Okay, thank you for your hard work, Mom."
"Then let Hao Hao stay with me for a while longer. Once my sister-in-law is less busy and Xiao Bao is feeling better, I'll send Hao Hao back."
Hu Zhenghao was looking at the little bamboo figure that Yang Yufen had made with great interest.
"Grandma Yang, let me try, let me try!"
Just by pulling two ropes, the little bamboo figure can not only move, but also wield a big sword. Under the light, even its shadow looks incredibly cool. No boy could resist it.
The three children sat on the bed playing around the small table, while Yang Yufen watched from the side. This was the scene Qin Nian saw when she returned.
The home wasn't as stylish and sophisticated as the teacher's house, but it exuded warmth everywhere, and Qin Nian really liked the atmosphere.
There was already a room reserved for the children, and Yang Yufen didn't put any household items in it. After a simple tidying up, the three children could live there on their own.
She said she wanted to sleep with her mom, but she ended up falling asleep while playing.
Qin Nian moved the small table aside, covered the three children with blankets, and sent her mother-in-law to the room to rest. She stayed with the children.
