Chapter 69 Creating Opportunities (1/2)

Yang Yufen was coaxing her two grandsons when she noticed her daughter-in-law secretly watching her, not giving Shen Xianjun a single glance. She couldn't help but sigh quietly.

Some people are just useless; even a ready-made self-inflicted injury won't get them the attention of their wives.

"Niannian, I just remembered I forgot to buy something. I'll go buy it. You stay here with the two kids and wait for me. I'll be right back."

Yang Yufen got up. It wasn't that she didn't want to take the two children with her, but she was afraid that if the children left, the two of them would feel even more awkward, so she left the children behind.

When Yang Yufen left the ward, she made sure to close the door behind her.

Yang Yufen stood in front of the door for a while, while inside the house, the only sound was Shen Xianjun slurping his noodles.

"Eat, eat, eat. All you can do is eat."

Yang Yufen muttered a curse under her breath and walked away.

"It would be even better if you could add some vinegar."

After finishing his soup and noodles, Shen Xianjun said something.

Upon hearing this, Qin Nian looked up at Shen Xianjun.

"Your injury doesn't warrant jealousy."

Qin Nian couldn't help but speak up.

"Oh, thank you for your hard work. My mom has a bad temper, you must have suffered a lot."

Shen Xianjun had just noticed that Qin Nian was watching his mother's expression and didn't dare to say a word.

"No, Mom is fine."

“I know you don’t need to speak up for my mother. That’s just how she is. I didn’t know anything about the two children. I’m sorry.”

Shen Xianjun offered his self-righteous words of comfort, and then apologized.

Qin Nian felt she had explained herself very clearly, but why did this person seem unable to understand?

An apology? Why should he apologize? Does this man think the child isn't his?

"I'm giving you these because I'm sorry. I left you alone right after we got married, and I also have a responsibility for our two children."

Shen Xianjun thought for a moment, then took out the thick envelope and handed it to Qin Nian. He was already married and had children, so supporting his family was very important. He decided not to give any to his mother this time, since he still had his allowance.

Qin Nian looked at the money in her hand and thought of what her mother-in-law had said. She had wanted to refuse, but she put it away anyway.

"Aren't you going to give this money to Mom?"

This man still acknowledges his children, Qin Nian thought back to that.

“I won’t give it to her yet. My mom called the political commissar and asked him to make the decision. I’ve taken out a portion of my monthly allowance for her retirement. Don’t be angry with my mom about this. After all, she raised me all by herself.”

As Shen Xianjun spoke, he completely failed to notice that Qin Nian's expression was not good.

"It is only right to take care of Mom in her old age."

Qin Nian uttered a sentence.

"Oh, by the way, are Da Bao and Er Bao their formal names?"

Shen Xianjun finally remembered his two children.

"No, Da Bao and Er Bao are nicknames. Mom said that since the children are young, they should be called by their nicknames first. Da Bao's formal name is Li Wu, and Er Bao's formal name is Li Wen."

Qin Nian's expression softened somewhat.

"The name is good. Don't be angry about Mom's old-fashioned name. People in the village say that a humble name is easier to raise a child with."

Qin Nian's expression, which had just calmed down, turned ugly again.

Yang Yufen returned just in time to hear this, and immediately pushed the door open and came in.

"You mean your grandma insisted on giving you the name 'Dog Egg,' but I changed it to 'Iron Egg,' a vulgar name? Da Bao and Er Bao are my precious grandchildren. Niannian, you have to go to work tomorrow, so you need to rest early. Da Bao and Er Bao also have to go to school. Let's go back."
