"There will probably be another group of kids tonight. Today, Da Bao told the kids in the yard that he wanted to go to the noodle shop. A group of kids climbed over the wall and got caught. Er Bao couldn't climb up, so he tried to come out through the gate. His head was sticking out but his body couldn't get out, and he got stuck in the door crack."
After Yang Yufen finished speaking, she couldn't help but laugh.
"Is that so? Haha, these two kids are really something. They say that three-year-olds are the age when even cats and dogs dislike them, and now it seems that's true."
Aunt Wang couldn't help but laugh when she heard this, and suddenly felt that her two daughters were quite good, well-behaved, smart and clean.
"Luckily, we don't have cats or dogs at home."
Yang Yufen couldn't help but sigh.
Just as Yang Yufen had expected, the twins didn't even need her to pick them up. Hu Zhenghao brought the twins, and behind them were several other children, all of whom were looking at Yang Yufen expectantly.
"Wash your hands, and after you've eaten, those who need to do their homework should do it."
Wow! Grandma, you're the best!
Da Bao cheered, and Er Bao also came over and hugged Yang Yufen's leg.
The children weren't picky; two or three of them would share a bowl with chopsticks.
"Wow, Da Bao, your grandma's noodles are really better than the ones at the orphanage!"
"It tastes even better than my grandma's!"
A group of children ate and praised the food. By the time the adults who had come looking for them arrived, the children had already eaten and drunk their fill and were playing.
"Luckily you were well prepared."
Even Aunt Wang couldn't help but sigh.
"Kids are all like that. There was nothing we could do in the past, but now that life is getting better, we can't bear to let them suffer."
Yang Yufen smiled as she washed the dishes. Each family knew about the trouble their child had caused at school, especially the parents of the child who had led the climbing over the wall. Feeling quite embarrassed, they picked a basket of persimmons and cucumbers and brought them over.
“My son has been a rascal since he was little, climbing walls and trees, and I couldn’t stop him. I was thinking of sending him to an orphanage, but who knew he would cause trouble with other children. Luckily, nothing bad happened. I also thank you for giving me a meal, Auntie. You have to accept it, otherwise I’ll feel so embarrassed.”
Everyone knows whose child they raised best, and after much back and forth, Yang Yufen had no choice but to accept it.
After a meal of noodles, the twins gained many more playmates. Now, Yang Yufen no longer needs to take them to school in the mornings. The child who led the way by climbing the wall is named Wang Xing, and he arrives very early.
"Hello, Grandma Yang!"
"Alright, alright, Da Bao and Er Bao are having breakfast, Wang Xing, come and have some too."
"Thank you, Grandma Yang! From now on, I'll take Da Bao and Er Bao to school! I'm really good at it!"
Wang Xing patted his chest confidently; this was his idea of exchanging his labor for delicious food.
Breakfast was pumpkin and millet porridge. Yang Yufen added some sugar and also fried some egg pancakes. The three children buried their heads in their food and slurped it down. With a new playmate, the twins ate even more heartily.
"Grandma Yang, do you think I washed the dishes clean?"
After Wang Xing finished eating, he washed his bowl and showed it to Yang Yufen.
"So clean, that's amazing!"
Yang Yufen never expected this child to be so clever, not only observant but also capable.
"Grandma, Grandma! We can wash dishes too!"
The twins quickly showed off their results.
"Oh, that's great, you're all good kids."
Yang Yufen raised her hand and patted the two children's heads.
"Grandma Yang, I took Da Bao and Er Bao to the orphanage."
Wang Xing held the twins' hands, one in his left hand and one in his right.
"Okay, take care on the road."
Yang Yufen was initially worried and wanted to follow behind to see what was going on, but she was discovered by the child after only a short while.
"Grandma Yang, we know the way, don't worry."
Wang Xing shouted loudly, and the twins nodded repeatedly.
Yang Yufen stopped and stood still, but her child ran back to urge her to go home.
When Hu Zhenghao came to pick up the twins after school, he felt like the sky had fallen.
