Chapter 377: Crisis (Script 12)

Chapter 377: Crisis (Script 12)

Three days later, the two returned to the Shadow Group headquarters.

Lu Yu's "attack" made him gain deeper trust from Mr. Xiao, and Li Zheng was officially promoted to Lu Yu's deputy because of his "meritorious service in protection".

In the conference room on the top floor of the group, Mr. Xiao was showing a map.

“The cargo will depart from Yangon on the 15th of next month.”

Mr. Xiao pointed his finger at a port on the map. "Lu Yu will be in charge of the handover, and Ah Zheng will escort the ship."

Li Zheng quickly wrote down the coordinates on the map - it was a civilian port supervised by the United Nations and should never be a trading place for biological and chemical weapons.

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw Lu Yu's fingers tapping on the table. It was that Morse code again, and this time it meant "fraud."

After the meeting, Zhang Kun, the third-in-command of the group, stopped Li Zheng.

The man with a face full of flesh was full of hostility towards Li Zheng who came from the sky.

Zhang Kun, reeking of alcohol, slowly approached Li Zheng and asked, "I heard you performed well in the Golden Triangle?"

He slapped Li Zheng's back with surprising force. "I'm curious, how come you're so familiar with the terrain of the dock?"

Li Zheng's muscles tensed, but a humble smile hung on his face: "I learned this from Mr. Lu."

"Yeah?"

Zhang Kun suddenly reached out and tugged at Li Zheng's collar, revealing an old scar just below his collarbone. "How did you get this gunshot wound? I've seen a lot of military rifle trajectories in Myanmar."

The air froze instantly.

Just then, the door to the conference room opened.

Lu Yu strolled out, casually playing with a butterfly knife in his hand: "Zhang Kun."

His voice was as gentle as if he was discussing the weather: "Are you questioning my judgment in selecting people?"

Zhang Kun immediately let go of Li Zheng, cold sweat oozing from his forehead: "Brother Yu, I dare not, I... I just..."

The knife flashed.

There was a wound on Zhang Kun's arm.

Blood gushed out, but Lu Yu's expression did not change at all. He coldly said "get out".

Zhang Kun covered his arm and left in pain.

Lu Yu shook off the blood on the knife and looked at Li Zheng: "Tonight at 8 o'clock, I'll be in my office. Bring your medical kit."

That night, Li Zheng came to Lu Yu's office as scheduled.

When Li Zheng pushed the door open, Lu Yu was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window with a glass of whiskey in his hand.

"close the door."

He didn't look back.

Li Zheng closed the door and found a medical kit on the ground.

Lu Yu finally turned around and slowly unbuttoned his shirt, revealing a bloody bandage: "I need you to rebandage my wound."

Li Zheng whispered "Okay".

There were many old wounds on Lu Yu's skin, the most conspicuous of which was a circular scar on his left chest - a close-range gunshot wound, the kind that was fatal.

"Three years ago."

Lu Yu suddenly spoke, as if he knew what Li was thinking. He explained, "Master Xiao asked me to execute a traitor. That person is another undercover agent of the 'Deep Dive Project', CT-103."

Li Zheng's hand paused.

"I hit the heart."

Lu Yu took a sip of wine and said in a muffled voice, "Before he died, he told me that the plan had been leaked, but I never found out who leaked it."

"Why don't you report this to Director Wang?"

Li Zheng asked.

Lu Yu raised his lips in a sarcastic arc: "Because the person who modified my file used Director Wang's password."

This sentence exploded in Li Zheng's mind like a bomb.

If even Director Wang cannot be trusted, who else in the entire police system can be trusted?

After the bandaging was completed, Lu Yu handed Li Zheng another glass of wine.

The two stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, each immersed in their thoughts.

"Why save me?"

Li Zheng suddenly asked, "When we were in the Golden Triangle, you could have left me and escaped."

Lu Yu spun his wine glass and chuckled, "Fifteen years...you are the first person to know my true identity."

He looked at Li Zheng, his eyes rarely concealed: "Sometimes, I also need someone to remember who I am."

Li Zheng looked into his eyes and for the first time saw the loneliness hidden deep in those eyes. At this moment, Lu Yu was no longer the second-in-command of the Shadow Group, nor was he a deep-cover agent of the police. He was just a man carrying too many secrets.

The plan went as planned.

Li Zheng looked at the marshmallow-like clouds outside the window, his fingertips unconsciously stroking the dark patterns on the seat belts - this was a plane exclusively for the Shadow Group, and even the seat belts were embroidered with a winding snake logo.

"nervous?"

Lu Yu's voice came from the opposite side. He was wearing a custom-made suit, and his eyes behind the gold-rimmed glasses were as precise as a scalpel.

Ever since they returned from the Golden Triangle, Lu Yu's hostility seemed to have subsided a little, but his eyes had become even more unfathomable.

Li Zheng loosened his seat belt and shook his head slowly: "I was just wondering why Mr. Xiao suddenly changed to sea transportation."

Lu Yu took out the champagne from the ice bucket and explained with a smile, "Because the air force base in northern Myanmar was bombed last week."

He handed the wine glass to Li Zheng and tapped the rim of the glass with his slender fingertips: "Guess who did it?"

This action reminded Li Zheng of a codeword he had read about undercover communication. He took the glass, deliberately pressed his thumb on a specific spot on the stem, and asked, "Interpol?"

Lu Yu's eyelashes trembled slightly: "Smart."

He took a sip of his wine: "So there will be a surprise on the ship this time."

After saying this, Lu Yu put down his wine glass temporarily and took out a tablet computer from his briefcase.

"Come and see our ship."

The screen displayed a three-dimensional model of a 10,000-ton cargo ship: "'Ocean Goddess', registered in Panama, actually controlled by a Greek shipping company - of course, this is all a cover-up."

He slid the screen and called up the cargo hold structure diagram.

A certain area is marked in red, and when you zoom in, you can see a dozen cylindrical containers: "The black ice is hidden here, disguised as refrigerant tanks."

Lu Yu tapped a container with his fingertips. "Each jar contains 200 'medicines'. Within 72 hours of contact with air, they will vaporize into a colorless and odorless gaseous neurotoxin."

Li Zheng stared at the red marks, his stomach twitching slightly.

This was far beyond the scope of ordinary drug trafficking - Mr. Xiao was trafficking weapons of mass destruction.

"You know what's the most ironic thing?"

Lu Yu suddenly moved closer to Li Zheng, and the scent of cedar mixed with the smell of alcohol hit him. "This ship is flying the flag of the United Nations Global Medical Aid Program."

Lu Yu's eyes behind the lenses flashed with a cold light. "Our 'medicines' will be shipped to the Middle East together with the real vaccines."

The tablet's standby screen lit up, showing an old, yellowed photo - seven teenagers in police academy uniforms standing side by side.

Before Li Zheng had time to take a closer look, Lu Yu quickly locked the screen, but at that moment he had recognized the young Lu Yu - he was standing at the very edge, with the corners of his mouth pursed into a stubborn straight line.

"Members of the Deep Dive Program?"

Li Zheng asked tentatively.

Lu Yu didn't answer, but just put the tablet back into his briefcase.

As he bent over, the collar of his shirt slipped open, revealing an old scar on his collarbone - shaped like the number "7".

The plane began to descend and the flight attendant came over to remind us to fasten our seat belts.

Lu Yu looked out the window at the increasingly clear coastline and said, "Li Zheng, if something unexpected happens during this mission..."

He paused, "Destroy the goods first, leave me alone."
