Chapter 423: Protection (Script 9)
"I can let you go."
The yellow-haired thug gave a malicious smile: "It's just that we are short of money... can you lend us some money..."
"I don't have any money..."
Shen Xiangyang's body trembled violently: "I... I really don't have any money..."
"Then there's nothing we can do."
The yellow-haired thug made a light "tsk" sound and then raised his fist.
Just as the thugs were laughing and about to drop their fists with the sound of wind—
“Shen Xiangyang!”
A roar was like thunder, tearing through the suffocating alley.
A figure rushed in from the dazzling sunset halo at the entrance of the alley with a desperate determination.
It’s Gu Xi!
Without any pause, he used his shoulder to violently knock away the thug closest to Shen Xiangyang.
The gangster was caught off guard and stumbled into the oil barrel next to him, making a loud bang.
"Oh shit!"
The yellow-haired thug saw the man's appearance clearly, and his eyes flashed with a fierce light: "How dare you meddle in other people's business?"
He growled, "Come with me! Destroy him!"
Fists and curses instantly filled the narrow alley.
Gu Xi gritted his teeth and stubbornly protected Shen Xiangyang in the narrow space between himself and the wall.
He used his body to withstand most of the attacks, and the dull sound of the blows made people's scalps numb.
In the chaos, a gangster picked up the half-rusted water pipe on the ground and swung it towards Gu Xi's side!
"Gu Xi!"
Shen Xiangyang's pupils suddenly constricted, and a scream of fear broke through his throat. Gu Xi suddenly turned sideways, and the heavy water pipe brushed past his ribs with the sound of wind, and hit his left arm that was used to block with a "bang"!
The piercing pain made his eyes go black, he groaned, and his body shook uncontrollably.
"Walk!"
He squeezed out this word from between his teeth, ignoring the tearing pain in his arm, and slammed Shen Xiangyang towards the alley entrance with his right hand!
At the same time, a sharp and rapid sound of sirens came from the distance, getting closer and closer.
The yellow-haired thug glared at Gu Xi unwillingly, then glanced towards the alley entrance fearfully and growled, "You guys are lucky."
They turned around in embarrassment and quickly disappeared into the messy shadows deep in the alley, leaving only a mess on the ground.
Shen Xiangyang turned back suddenly.
Gu Xi was still in the same posture as when he pushed him away. He was leaning against the cold brick wall, breathing heavily.
His left hand was hanging limply at his side. The sleeve of his school uniform was scratched by the water pipe, leaving a long cut, and the edge was stained with dark red blood.
"Gu Xi!"
Shen Xiangyang's voice was shaking, and he rushed back to him, wanting to touch but not daring to touch his injured arm, "You...your hand..."
Gu Xi raised his head with difficulty. The loose hair on his forehead was soaked with sweat, and strands of hair stuck to his pale forehead.
Gu Xi pulled the corners of his mouth, as if trying to reveal a soothing smile, but unexpectedly his expression became distorted due to the pain: "It's okay... It doesn't hurt..."
His voice was hoarse, but his eyes were fixed on Shen Xiangyang's frightened face: "It didn't hit you... It's good."
The sirens were getting closer and closer, and red and blue lights were flashing wildly on the walls of the alley.
Gu Xi raised his head, sweat soaking his forehead, and gave a twisted smile: "Let's go first, the police are here."
Now is not a good time to go to the police station.
Shen Xiangyang has more important things to do.
Gu Xi grabbed Shen Xiangyang's wrist, endured the severe pain and pulled him out of the alley, stopping only at the next street.
Shen Xiangyang was dragged by him and stumbled out of the alley. The cool wind blew across his hot cheeks, and the clamor of the sirens behind him gradually faded away.
"Let's go home and see grandma."
"Wait, your wound must be bandaged first."
Gu Xi couldn't persuade Shen Xiangyang and agreed.
Gu Xi held onto the back of the rusty iron bench, bent over, breathing heavily, his injured left arm twitching slightly uncontrollably.
Shen Xiangyang looked at Gu Xi's painful and patient appearance, and his heart felt like it was being repeatedly rolled over by something, feeling sore and swollen.
He carefully reached out his hand and lightly touched Gu Xi's school uniform sleeve with his fingertips: "...Does it hurt?"
Gu Xi took a deep breath, stood up and shook his head.
The dim light outlined the profile of Gu Xi's face, his nose was straight, his jawline was taut, and he had a kind of almost stubborn determination that Shen Xiangyang had never seen in him before.
"It doesn't hurt."
Gu Xi looked at Shen Xiangyang, with a faint light reflected in his eyes, but something seemed to be burning deep in his eyes, "Compared to...compared to leaving you alone there back then..."
At this point, Gu Xi's voice choked.
Shen Xiangyang's heart was hit hard by this unfinished sentence.
He silently opened his washed-white schoolbag, fumbled for a while, and took out a small cloth bag carefully wrapped in an old handkerchief.
He lowered his head and untied his handkerchief clumsily, revealing a small roll of clean white gauze and a small bottle of iodine - something he always kept on hand to treat the "accidental" injuries on his body.
Shen Xiangyang unscrewed the cap of the small brown bottle of iodine, and a strong and pungent smell immediately filled the air.
He took a deep breath, then picked up a cotton ball soaked in iodine with tweezers, raised his head and looked at Gu Xi: "Roll up your sleeves... I... I'll help you treat the wound..."
Gu Xi looked at his slightly trembling eyelashes, and the burning sensation in her heart miraculously subsided a little, replaced by something warmer and indescribable.
He hummed an obedient "hmm" and used his still-movable right hand to struggle to roll up the torn sleeve of his left school uniform to his upper arm bit by bit.
There was a not-so-deep but very long wound on the outside of Gu Xi's arm. The edge was covered with dust and fine gravel. Blood was slowly oozing out of it, flashing a wet dim light under the street light.
Shen Xiangyang’s breath was choked.
He held the tweezers with a steady hand, carefully avoiding the wound. He first used a clean cotton ball to absorb the blood seeping from the surrounding area, and then gently covered it with a cotton ball soaked in iodine.
The stinging pain made Gu Xi's muscles tense instantly. He groaned, clenched his teeth, and a layer of fine cold sweat seeped out of his forehead.
"Bear with it for a moment."
Shen Xiangyang's voice sounded low, and the movements of his hands became gentler, carefully wiping away the dirt around the wound.
Shen Xiangyang lowered his head slightly, the light cast soft shadows on his face, and his focused expression seemed as if he was treating a fragile treasure.
