Corpses were everywhere in the medical station. Some were former patients, and some were medical staff. Their bodies lay quietly on the ground, their limbs mutilated, their intestines and internal organs pulled out, their eyes empty. They seemed to retain their appearance before they were alive, but they had lost their vitality.
“There are still survivors, look for them!” Xia He said to Xiao Lin.
The two searched every ward and found only five survivors, including Dr. Qian!
Upon seeing Xia He, Dr. Qian immediately burst into tears, "Xia He, so many people have died! So many people have died! They were all bitten to death!"
Dr. Qian was lucky. When the tragedy occurred, Dr. Qian was in the laboratory of the medical station, preparing medicine. When Dr. Qian heard the noise outside, he was about to open the door when someone blocked his way. Dr. Qian could not open the door, so he had to turn on the monitor and watch the scene on the screen.
Inside the laboratory, the equipment was scattered, clearly having withstood a fierce resistance. Dr. Qian's hands trembled as she rejoiced for the survivors, but her feelings for her colleagues and patients who had lost their lives were indescribable.
Xia He held Dr. Qian's hand tightly. "Dr. Qian, we will do our best to protect this place. We will definitely find a safe way."
Xiao Lin silently looked around. He understood that the most important thing now was to protect the remaining people and buy them more time. "Xia He, you stay in the base and search for any remaining zombies and check the number of casualties. I have to go outside and keep watch."
Xia He nodded, "Okay, leave it to me, you can go without worry."
Xia He led the survivors from the medical station to take Dr. Qian back to his room to rest. Dr. Qian was old and had just experienced a bloody incident, so his mental state was very unstable.
Xia He then patrolled the area within the base, and after confirming that no zombies remained, she began to count the number of casualties.
