Chapter 220 Taking a Stroll

And so, Ah Yin bravely drove forward. On the way, she encountered some zombies that tried to squeeze into the car, but Ah Yin suddenly charged forward and knocked them away!

Along the way, Xia He even started playing music and eating snacks, until A Yin slowly asked, "Sister... Sister, where are we going?"

Xia He then realized, "Oh no, I don't know either. Let's just wander around, towards areas with more towns, and see where we end up."

Hearing this made A-Yin break out in a cold sweat, but she thought to herself, "What my sister says must make sense. I can't go wrong by listening to her."

The road conditions were far from good. Not only were there attacks from zombies and mutated animals, but also rocks, branches, and other obstacles. Some houses along the road had even collapsed in the middle of the road, and the surface was full of potholes, making the ride extremely bumpy. Despite the vehicle's excellent performance, the vibrations were still very strong. Adding to the problem, Ah Yin was driving very fast, and Xiao Hua couldn't help but yell in anger, "Do you even know how to drive?! This is so bumpy, are you trying to kill me?!"

Ayin looked extremely aggrieved after being yelled at by a little boy who looked to be 3 years old. She said, "I...I was driving very steadily."

Although that's what A-Yin said, the speed didn't decrease at all. When it encountered an obstacle, it would drive straight over it. If it couldn't drive over it, it would turn directly. It even managed to drift. Xia He couldn't help but ask from the side, "Is this really your first time learning to drive?"

Ayin stammered, "Well... I've been staying inside the research institute and haven't gone out much."

Xia He was speechless upon hearing this.

No one knew how much time had passed; in the polar night, there was no concept of time, and everything was pitch black. Suddenly, Ayin said, "There's light ahead!"

Xia He was watching a show on her tablet when she heard what A Yin said. She looked up and saw a dim yellow light shining in front of her. "Let's go take a look," Xia He said excitedly.

Ayin drove straight toward the light. As night fell, the group approached and discovered that the lighted area was a country villa, dimly lit and faintly visible. An eerie atmosphere permeated the surroundings, making the silence almost unsettling.

"Something's not right. It's so quiet, really, too quiet."

In the pitch-black environment, the light shining from the house revealed a desolate and bleak scene around it.

The garden was overgrown with weeds and shrubs, and weeds spread from the cracked bricks and soil. The ancient, withered trees all around had sparse branches and leaves, like a faded painting. The broken branches swayed in the wind and made a sinister hissing sound.

The country villa itself also looks old. Under the dim light, the yellowed, broken tiles, the square structure, and the roofless eaves show the deep marks left by the passage of time.

Peeling paint can be seen through the yellow tiles on the exterior walls, some tiles have fallen to the ground, and there are broken window panes, revealing the erosion of time. Moreover, the whole house is tilted to one side, possibly due to the earthquake.

The silence was almost frightening; there wasn't a sound. A biting wind blew, and the leaves rustled harshly, sending shivers down one's spine. The surrounding environment seemed shrouded in a suffocating atmosphere, making one feel uneasy.

Xia He signaled A Yin to stop the car. A Yin parked the car straight in front of the house. Although it was called the main entrance, only half of the wall and an iron gate that looked like it was about to collapse remained.

Xia He got out of the car first, followed by the rest of the people and the dog. "Is anyone here?" Xia He asked in a loud voice.

After waiting for a while and seeing that no one came, Xia He asked again, "Is anyone here?" This time her voice was louder than before.

However, this time, someone inside the house actually answered, "Who are you!"

Then, a burly man came out of the house. Through the iron gate, Xia He and the others could clearly see the man putting on his clothes. As he dressed, he asked, "Who is it? Why are you shouting in the middle of the night?"

There were no lights outside the house's wall, so the burly man couldn't see what was happening outside. He fumbled around on the wall for a while, and then, surprisingly, a small lamp lit up above Xia He's head.

In this day and age, it's rare to see someone so generous. Resources are scarce, yet this family doesn't seem to have any trouble getting electricity. Although the house looks dilapidated, there's even a light at the door. "Not simple, definitely not simple," Xia He thought to herself, but she didn't show it on her face. She said, "Big brother, my two younger brothers and I came here and saw that you have lights on, so we wanted to come in and stay for a while."

Xia He had already put the car into her spatial storage when everyone got off, and the two little ones went in with them. The three of them didn't have time to change their clothes, so they just made do. They took out three bags, one for each of them, and they were all stuffed with foam. So at this moment, the backpacks looked full and full of supplies.

The burly man sized up the three people through the iron gate. When he saw that it was a woman and two children, a calculating glint flashed in his eyes, but it quickly disappeared. He put on a smile and said, "Oh, what brings you here, young lady? And you've brought two children with you. There are plenty of zombies and mutated animals out there."

As he spoke, he opened the iron gate and said, "Come in." He then gestured for the three people to enter.

The burly man led the three people into the house. In rural mud houses, there is no such thing as a living room; it is called a main room. Xia He looked around and saw that the furnishings inside were very simple: a square wooden table and two red plastic stools. The burly man greeted them and brought out two more red plastic stools from another room, gesturing for Xia He and the others to sit down.
