The Lin family was enjoying a seafood feast in the courtyard, which made everyone else very hungry.
"The Lin family eats meat and seafood every day. How are we supposed to survive on wild vegetables?"
"That's right, they've had their fill, while we're still full of wild grass and tree bark..."
"How can the difference between people be so huge? I'm really impressed. Is there some kind of magic behind this Lin family kid? How did he suddenly become so powerful?"
"Maybe..." The man squatted at the village entrance, muttering something, when a broken shoe flew and hit him on the forehead. "Who is it? Which idiot dares to throw something at me?"
"I threw it, so what? You want to hit me?"
A sturdy woman sat under the tree roots. Her family had managed to save up food during a famine, as could be seen from her physique.
"Can't you shut that lousy mouth of yours? No one will think you're mute if you don't talk. You just can't stand seeing others do well, can you? Lin Chaosheng was a good kid when he was young. If he hadn't been led astray, how could he have become a lazy gambler!"
"And you lot, you've been swindling people behind their backs countless times. Now that they've seen the truth coming out, instead of being happy for the Lin family, you're kicking them when they're down. You're really despicable!"
"No wonder so many men follow the Lin brothers around, trying to get free meals from them. Some people don't even dare to try!"
The man blushed as the woman spoke, but how could he, a man who only ate one meal a day, possibly beat a woman with a rosy complexion?
He could only watch helplessly as the woman walked up to him, snatched his shoes, and said, "Go eat meat with the Lin family!"
"A person has to choose the right side no matter what, or they'll get themselves killed sooner or later!"
The others followed the woman and scattered, no one wanting to bother with this stinking pile of dog poop.
After finishing their seafood meal, Lin Chaosheng and his family patted their round bellies and burped contentedly.
"I haven't eaten this much in ages," Zhao Shufang sighed, looking at the stars in the sky. "It all feels like a dream."
Lin Shanhai adapted quickly. After hearing Zhao Shufang's words, he immediately muttered, "It's been several days, and I still don't feel it's real?"
“Absolutely,” Zhao Shufang said. “The day before, I had to fight with others for wild vegetables, but the next day I was eating rice and wheat flour, and even had more meat and seafood than I could finish. To be honest, I never even dared to dream of such a scene.”
After saying that, Zhao Shufang looked at Lin Shanhai in a daze and said, "Old man, do you think we've been dead for a long time? Is all of this an illusion? Did we go to heaven?"
Lin Shanhai was amused by Zhao Shufang, "Old woman, so you can be absent-minded sometimes too, huh? Hahahaha!"
Zhao Shufang glared at him fiercely and then fell silent.
"It's getting late, let's go back and pack up, so as not to keep these kids from resting."
After saying goodbye to Lin Shanhai, Lin Chaosheng, and others, Zhao Shufang headed home.
The next morning, Lin Chaosheng, unusually, neither went hunting nor fishing at sea. Instead, he and Lin Shansheng went to buy several large plastic basins.
He plans to get rich by selling fish!
“Brother, our village has a limited population, and most of them are poor. They can’t afford the fish we catch…”
Lin Shansheng was troubled, but Lin Chaosheng laughed and said, "You don't need to worry about that. We'll get some small fish and shrimp to sell in the village, as well as clams and such. Have your sister-in-law and the others sell them. Ask Wei He and Dad to help keep an eye on things so they don't get bullied."
"As for the two of us, we'll sell ourselves on the black market."
"What? The black market!" Lin Shansheng immediately lowered his voice and said, "Brother, you're not kidding, are you?"
"Are you kidding me? I'm serious. We two brothers can definitely make a fortune on the black market!"
“You’re right, the people who come to the black market to buy things aren’t short of money, so we’ll definitely make more…”
Lin Shansheng rubbed his hands excitedly to the side, while Lin Chaosheng smiled but said nothing.
He didn't explicitly say that he came to the black market to sell fish because he wanted to play the long game and catch bigger fish.
His ultimate goal is to become a wholesaler, supplying major restaurants and seafood shops.
This saves you time and money in selling your goods, and you earn more.
But these are all just his dreams; nothing is even close to being realized yet. Talking about them now would be like drawing a pie in the sky—meaningless.
If it comes true, that's great; if it doesn't, that's quite awkward.
After buying the large plastic basin, the two took Wei He out to sea to fish.
However, his luck was quite low today, only "10", so Lin Chaosheng didn't have much hope.
Even so, they caught quite a lot of seafood, enough to sell in the village.
"With all this seafood, our trip wasn't in vain," Lin Chaosheng said as he tossed the seafood into a large plastic basin.
Lin Shansheng also said, "These things are enough for my sister-in-law and the others to sell for a while."
"Let's go take a look over there," Lin Chaosheng said, watching Xiao Ba start swimming eastward. He knew there must be plenty of fish there too.
Sure enough, as soon as the net was lowered, many fish were seen lingering outside the net.
Lin Chaosheng and Lin Shansheng each grabbed a handful of sunflower seeds. Wei He, who didn't like these things, sat on the deck and looked down.
Lin Shansheng asked him, "Xiaohe, don't you feel dizzy looking at the sea?"
"No, it's actually quite fun." Wei He smiled shyly, "but I'm always afraid that something might pop out of it."
More than two hours later, the three began to pull the net.
This net brought back quite a lot of fish. Lin Chaosheng and his group put the big fish into a large plastic basin and sorted the other small fish as well.
The fish we caught most today was grouper. They're delicious steamed or pan-fried.
“We’ll take these fish to the black market and sell them, and the rest can be sold in the village by your sister-in-law and the others.”
Wei He glanced at the fish and said, "Brother Chaosheng, how about I help your wife and the others today, and then we can go to the black market tomorrow?"
"Okay, your sister-in-law and her husband are probably not very skilled at selling fish since it's their first time. Help them out a bit, and when you get back, have your sister-in-law make some pancakes."
Upon hearing the words "pancake," Wei He's eyes lit up immediately; he had never tasted pancakes before!
"What? You want me and Xiaofu to sell fish in the village?"
Liang Mei was a little hesitant, but Lin Chaosheng immediately said, "What's wrong with that? Just sell it with confidence. Wei He and Dad are here. No one will dare to cause you any trouble."
Seeing the encouraging looks from Lin Chaosheng and the others, Liang Mei had no choice but to nod: "Okay, then I'll give it a try with Xiao Fu."
Lin Shansheng joked from the side, "Don't worry, sister-in-law, even if you don't say anything, just standing there, you won't have any fish left!"
