The young couple packed up their things and said goodbye to Grandma Zhang. Then they got on the military vehicle driven by the People's Liberation Army comrades and left Zhangjia Village.
This time, the two of them rode in the car for a whole day and night before it stopped.
Gu Mingtai gently woke up his wife who was sleeping on his shoulder.
Zhang Meng opened her eyes and looked at the car that had finally stopped. She breathed a sigh of relief, "Are we here yet?"
"We're here. Are you tired? When we get there, ask them to arrange a room for us to sleep in."
Gu Mingtai touched her red face and answered softly.
The two got out of the car and stood outside a villa.
"Comrades, the commander said it's too late. Please go and rest first. I'll see you later."
I guess someone just went down to report it, and now he came over to convey the meaning of the person above to the young couple.
Gu Mingtai immediately nodded in agreement, "Take us to our rest room, my wife needs to rest."
The PLA comrade glanced at the two of them, nodded, and immediately led them to the second room on the right side of the second floor of the villa to settle down.
Perhaps she was really tired of sitting. As soon as Zhang Meng came into this room and saw the big bed inside, she immediately felt at home. She lay down on it with half-closed eyes and said to Gu Mingtai who was walking over, "Gu Mingtai, please let me have a good sleep. No matter what happens, don't disturb me."
Gu Mingtai sat on the edge of the bed. Seeing that she was really sleepy, he gently touched her face and promised softly, "Okay, I promise you, no matter what happens, I won't disturb your sleep."
With his promise, Zhang Meng closed her eyes and fell asleep peacefully.
Zhang Meng slept very soundly that night, and when she woke up, the room was dark.
"Gu Mingtai." Zhang Meng shouted to the surroundings, but all she got in response was silence.
Helplessly, Zhang Meng had to turn on the light in the room and open the door herself, and heard voices coming from downstairs.
"Comrade Gu, right? I heard from Adjutant Luo that you and your wife are both ghost hunters. Can you tell us brothers and sisters if ghosts really exist in this world?"
The person asking the question was a young girl who looked to be in her twenties.
Zhang Meng, who was standing upstairs, could see the starry eyes of the woman asking the question when she looked at her man. She snorted and strode down from upstairs.
Gu Mingtai, who was chatting with the Gao family, heard footsteps coming down the stairs and immediately looked up. When he saw it was Zhang Meng, a gentle smile immediately appeared on his cold and handsome face. He stood up from the sofa and strode over to support Zhang Meng who was coming down.
"I just woke up and didn't see you. I thought you had gone somewhere." Zhang Meng looked at the man in front of her with a bit of coquettishness in her voice.
Gu Mingtai, who was supporting her, was stunned at first, then his eyes swept over the young lady of the Gao family who was staring at them with a fierce look. He immediately shook his head and smiled. It seemed that his young wife was jealous.
However, he still quite likes this jealous young wife.
"Don't worry, you will always be the only one in my heart." He came closer and whispered this in her ear.
Zhang Meng, who was always showing a bad temper, was stunned and her face soon turned red. She didn't expect that this man could see through her temper so quickly.
"Hmph, if I'm not by your side in the future, stop chatting with women who have ulterior motives towards you, or I'll make you kneel on the washboard when I get home."
After leaving this warning, Zhang Meng let go of his hand and walked towards the group of people in the hall with big strides and head held high.
When she walked over, Zhang Meng felt a pair of jealous eyes staring at her.
But so what? No matter how fiercely that woman stares at her, her man is still hers.
Ignoring the piercing gaze, Zhang Meng smiled and greeted everyone sitting in the hall, "Hello everyone, my name is Zhang Meng, and I'm Gu Mingtai's wife."
After introducing the latter sentence, Zhang Meng glanced at the owner of that glaring gaze with a smug look, seemingly unintentionally.
Gao Shufen was so angry that she gritted her teeth and was filled with hatred.
Comrade Gu, such an outstanding man, was actually married to a woman named Zhang. God is so unfair.
No matter how she looked at it, she felt that this woman surnamed Zhang was not worthy of Comrade Gu. The only one who was worthy of Comrade Gu was her, a child of an official family.
Everyone in the hall was thinking in different ways. After a moment's silence, a woman stepped forward and enthusiastically shook Zhang Meng's hand. "So you're Comrade Zhang! I've heard you're quite the expert at catching ghosts. And your talismans are a real nemesis, aren't they?"
Zhang Meng smiled politely, "No, that's just because those people outside think highly of me. Actually, I'm not as powerful as everyone says. To be polite, I'm just a fortune teller."
The woman remained calm and continued to hold Zhang Meng's hand enthusiastically. "You can't say that. Not everyone in this world has your ability. Comrade Zhang, can you tell me what this ghost looks like?"
"Second sister-in-law, you don't really think there are ghosts in this world, do you? You think too much, okay? Don't be afraid of being cheated by such people and still helping them count money." Just as Zhang Meng was about to sit with this woman, suddenly a sarcastic remark floated over.
The woman holding Zhang Meng's hand smiled sheepishly. "Third sister, you can't not believe this. There are no ghosts in this world, right? If there are no ghosts, how can we solve what happened to Dad? Don't you think so?"
