Chapter 39 Both Remarry

That's right. He married the daughter of a department head. She's 35 this year, never married, and quite overweight. The department head only has one daughter, who was pampered growing up, so he wanted to find a son-in-law to live with him.

It just so happens that her daughter has taken a liking to Meng Wanyin's ex-husband.

When Lin Chuchu returned home, she saw Meng Wanyin and a man walking hand in hand out of her grandmother's yard, looking very happy and sweet.

Seeing Lin Chuchu was not surprising at all.

"Chuchu, you're back! It's been a long time. My boyfriend and I came to visit the Mu family. I never expected that my boyfriend's boss would be Mu Chen's father."

Meng Wanyin spoke with a beaming smile, her face radiating warmth, and she even took Lin Chuchu's hand as she spoke.

Lin Chuchu calmly withdrew her hand. "Congratulations! I didn't expect you to get married again. I wish you a long and happy marriage."

As for having a son soon, forget about that.

Meng Wanyin almost lost her smile; she felt that Lin Chuchu seemed to be being sarcastic.

Her boyfriend, however, was very polite to Lin Chuchu. "Comrade Chuchu, I heard that you are a student at Qingdao University and a translator in the research department. You and Wanyin should spend more time together in the future, since you were both sent-down youth in the same place."

He was hoping his boss would promote him, but he didn't want his boss to make things difficult for him.

Lin Chuchu smiled and nodded before watching the person leave.

"Mom, what's going on? Why are they here?"

Upon seeing her mother, Lin Chuchu asked curiously. Her mother gestured towards the table with her chin, "What else could we be doing? Giving gifts, of course!"

Under the guise of visiting the elderly, my mother couldn't kick them out, and thankfully they only brought food, not money.

Lin Chuchu frowned, wondering how Mu Chen's investigation was going. She really didn't want Meng Wanyin to be around her, and hoped to find a pretext to transfer her away.

Normally, Mom and Dad live in the family compound, which is crowded and noisy, not suitable for making clothes. So Mom prefers to take the fabric back to Grandma's house.

That day, Lin Chuchu and Mu Chen had a day off, and their mother asked them to go back with her to get clothes and needles and thread.

Upon entering the residential compound, Mu Chenlin and Chu Chu encountered many people. Her mother told her to greet them, and she did so with a smile, appearing very friendly.

The elderly people in the courtyard had a very good impression of Lin Chuchu.

Just then, a discordant voice rang out.

"Hey, who's this? Is he a relative of yours? He's not from some poor backwater, is he? He's not as pretty as my daughter!"

A woman with thin, tightly pursed lips and slanted eyes that looked sharp and mean at first glance.

Mother Mu immediately objected, "This is my daughter-in-law. My daughter-in-law is a college student at Qingdao University. Your daughter is pretty? Stop flattering yourself. Your daughter looks exactly like you. You're both ugly."

"How old is your daughter? She doesn't even have a boyfriend yet, and you still have the nerve to talk about others."

“You’re talking nonsense,” the woman jumped three feet high. “If your son hadn’t refused to marry my daughter back then, would my daughter have waited until now? Besides, there are plenty of people who want to marry my daughter.”
