Mother Mu snorted coldly, "Back then, when your family heard that my parents had some trouble, they immediately distanced themselves from the marriage. It was your family that took the initiative to break off the engagement."
"Now that you see my family's life is getting better and better, and Mu Chen has a job, you want to get involved? Let me tell you, no way. Your vain daughter deserves to never get married."
The woman was furious. "You're talking nonsense! I'll tear your mouth apart right now!"
With sharp fingernails, she was about to scratch Mu's mother's face.
Mother Mu didn't tolerate her either, and grabbed the woman's hair, and the two immediately started fighting.
Without saying a word, Lin Chuchu went to help, seemingly to break up the fight, but in reality, she held the woman down to prevent her from moving.
No wonder Mu Chen stopped halfway in; there was such a disgusting woman here.
With help, Mu's mother quickly gained the upper hand, scratching the other person's face until it was covered in red veins.

"Your husband was suspended from his job, and you still want to cling to my family? Shameless."
Normally, Mother Mu is not one to be easily manipulated, and with her daughter-in-law's help today, her fighting spirit has skyrocketed.
After saying that, he left with Lin Chuchu without looking back.
Seeing Lin Chuchu looking at her with such admiration, Mother Mu chuckled.
"Let me tell you, Mom is amazing. She's the best in the whole residential compound."
After saying that, he gave a thumbs up, his face full of pride.
Lin Chuchu nodded, "Mom is the best, I will definitely learn from you in the future."
I can't afford to be taken advantage of in future fights.
Thinking back to the past, Mu's mother sighed, "It turns out your father had a good relationship with their family, after all, they both came from the same military unit."
"Back then, we both got pregnant around the same time. They said that if we had a boy and a girl, we would become in-laws."
Later, she truly treated the other woman's daughter as her own, and had her son take care of her in every way.
But in the end, someone anonymously reported their family, and their parents got into trouble. Fearing they would be implicated, they immediately broke off the engagement and even said they would never see each other again.
Thank God, her parents' situation didn't affect her husband and children, allowing them to escape a disaster and letting her see the true colors of those people.
As she spoke, her eyes reddened. Those years were so hard; she lived in constant fear, worrying about her parents, her husband, and her son.
Lin Chuchu handed her mother a handkerchief. "Mom, our family's hard times are over. Now everyone's good days are here, and good fortune is yet to come."
Mom wiped her eyes. "Yes, yes, things have changed for the better in our family. Now it's others who are suffering."
She blinked several times, a slight smile playing on her lips. "The family we just met, they've been having some bad luck lately. Someone reported her husband for embezzling state funds, and he's been suspended from his duties pending investigation."
She said haughtily.
"Hmph, just a few days ago you wanted to come to me, saying you wanted to marry your daughter to Mu Chen. Weren't you just trying to get your father's help?"
"I told her directly that it was too late."
Lin Chuchu couldn't help but laugh; her mother was just too adorable.
After returning home and retrieving her fabric and needles, she met Mu Chen, who was talking to a middle-aged man.
Mu Chen was clearly angry, his eyes blazing with fury.
Just as Lin Chuchu was about to go over and say a few words of comfort, she saw her mother step forward and kick the man in the calf.
"What are you doing? Trying to avenge your husband? Come find me, not my son. I'm the one who hit him."
The man who was kicked was completely bewildered. Upon seeing Mu's mother, he immediately fawned over her and said, "Sister-in-law, we've been neighbors for so many years, and we almost became in-laws. How could I possibly seek revenge on you?"
"If my husband hadn't made that mistake back then, we would be in-laws now."
"Who said we're in-laws? Have you no shame? You were the ones who broke off the engagement back then, and now you're coming after my son?"
Mother Mu was so angry that she pointed at his nose and started yelling at him.
The man's face was somewhat grim. Who would have thought their family was alright back then? If only he had known…
He was filled with regret. If only he had increased his efforts back then, he would have definitely brought down the Mu family.
Unfortunately, it was all too late.
"Sister-in-law, when is Lao Mu free? I'd like to go drink with him."
Mother Mu rolled her eyes at him, "No need, we're not good enough for your family."
After saying that, he left with his son and daughter-in-law.
On the way back, Mu Chen's face was still not good, without a smile. When he got home, he didn't eat anything and hid in his room.
Lin Chuchu walked into the room with a bowl of beef noodles in her hand.
Seeing Mu Chen lying blankly on the bed, seemingly lost in thought.
Lin Chuchu placed the noodles on the table, stepped forward, grabbed his hand, and tried to pull him up.
"Get up, Mom worked so hard to make this, it'll clump together in a minute."
Mu Chen tightened his grip, and Lin Chuchu gasped as she leaned against his chest.
Lin Chuchu didn't get up, but just hugged each other, listening to each other's heartbeats.
After a long pause, Lin Chuchu spoke, "What, do you still like that woman? Do you feel it's a pity, and are you unhappy about it?"
Mu Chen: "..."
He patted Lin Chuchu's butt twice. "Am I such a tasteless person? I don't like her, I only like you."
This is the truth. Mu Chen has no feelings for that woman. After learning about their engagement, he only feels a sense of responsibility.
When her family came to break off the engagement, he felt no disappointment, only relief.
Lin Chuchu blushed and struggled to get up. "Get up quickly. If it's not that you're reluctant to part with it, then why are you in a bad mood?"
Lin Chuchu asked curiously.
A cold glint flashed in Mu Chen's eyes. "I've always suspected that the letter of complaint from back then was actually sent by her family."
