Chapter 1 Rebirth
A strong feeling of suffocation washed over her, and Ye Ran unconsciously tried to open her mouth wide to breathe. But as soon as she opened her mouth, a large amount of water rushed in, some of which went directly into her trachea and esophagus, making her feel even more uncomfortable.
She vaguely thought, "Wasn't I hit by a car and killed? How am I still conscious? What's going on?"
With all her might, she managed to open her eyes and saw that she was surrounded by murky water. Driven by the instinct to survive, Ye Ran began to struggle, but her struggles grew weaker and weaker.
Suddenly, a pair of strong arms wrapped around her waist, and a great force came to pull her up. In her daze, she only had time to see his profile, a bright red mole at the corner of his eye, both charming and passionate.
"Lu Yi..." Ye Ran said silently, then fainted.
When Ye Ran woke up again, she only heard someone talking.
"There's no immediate danger to his life. Let's observe him for now!"
"Thank you, doctor, thank you."
Then came bursts of crying and sighs, sounds that sounded increasingly familiar.
She suddenly opened her eyes: "Dad! Mom!" The crying and sighing stopped immediately, followed by a series of hurried footsteps.
The curtain to the room was suddenly lifted, and a petite and slender middle-aged woman and a tall and upright middle-aged man walked in together.
Upon seeing the two people, Ye Ran's emotions instantly erupted: "Dad! Mom! You're still here! That's wonderful! I... I missed you so much! Waaah..."
The woman was Ye Ran's mother, Bai Yue, and the man was Ye Ran's father, Ye Jun.
Hearing her daughter's mournful cries, Bai Yue felt as if her heart was being torn apart. Her eyes reddened with heartache as she cried out, "Ranran, it's alright now. Mommy's here. Don't be afraid..."
Ye Jun was just an ordinary man, and he couldn't come up with any words to comfort his daughter. He felt that his daughter's cries contained immense grievances, and it broke his heart.
Ye Ran is the only daughter of the two parents, and she has always been the apple of their eye. They have spoiled her like a precious jewel, and despite their limited means, they have done everything they can to give her a better life.
Today, while I was at work, I heard that my daughter had fallen into the river and was unconscious. We were so anxious that we immediately threw down our things and ran back home.
When they got home and saw their daughter lying on the bed, pale and bloodless, they felt as if the sky had fallen.
Ye Jun could only choke back tears as he hugged the mother and daughter tightly, saying, "It's alright, it's alright."
Although both parents felt that their daughter's crying was very distressing, they only thought that she was frightened by falling into the water that day and did not think much of it.
Little did they know that the daughter in their arms was no longer the same person. The one in their arms now was Ye Ran, who had endured all kinds of torment and suffering eighteen years later.
For some unknown reason, she returned to the year she was seventeen. Her cries contained both her years of resentment and, even more so, her longing for her parents.
So, although the three family members were thinking about different things, they all embraced each other tightly, filled with love for their family.
Ye Ran felt as if she were dreaming, having been able to be so close to her family for so long...
She drifted off to sleep again in the blissful embrace of her parents.
Even in her sleep, she clung tightly to her parents' clothes, as if afraid they would disappear if she let go.
Ye Jun and Bai Yue remained still, each holding one of their daughter's hands tightly, their faces beaming with doting smiles.
When Ye Ran woke up again, it was already early the next morning. She panicked when she found that her parents were not by her side, but she calmed down when she saw the things around her.
