Chapter 439 Moving

These days, very few families can afford to hire a nanny; they are either very wealthy or very powerful.

Going out to work as a nanny, with room and board provided, and a net salary of twenty yuan a month—what a great deal! How did Aunt Li end up with such a good thing?

"Comrade, you need a nanny? My daughter is perfect for that. She's only sixteen, young and capable, quick and efficient, much better than Mrs. Li."

Just as Aunt Li went to explain things to someone, and Sheng Xiping was waiting by the car, a number of people gathered around. One of them said something like this.

“That’s right, that’s right, my wife is just as good. She cooks well and is efficient at housework. Why do you have to hire an old lady?” People around chimed in.

"Excuse me, we're used to Aunt Li's services and don't feel comfortable asking for anyone else. Everyone, please make way, we're leaving."

When Sheng Xiping saw Aunt Li return, he hurried over to greet her and helped her into the car.

Upon seeing this, the onlookers quickly dispersed to both sides. Then, the driver started the car and drove away from the scene, heading straight into the city.

Following Sheng Xiping's instructions, the driver took him directly to the train station. Sheng Xiping and Aunt Li got out of the car and gave the driver two packs of cigarettes as a thank you.

Afterwards, the two went to the station to buy return tickets, and then Sheng Xiping led Aunt Li to a restaurant near the station and ordered a pound and a half of dumplings.

After finishing their dumplings, the two hurried back to the station, and soon heard the boarding gates open.

So they lined up to have their tickets checked and boarded the train. After settling their luggage, the train started moving, and Aunt Li followed Sheng Xiping to Songjianghe.

The two arrived at Songjiang River at noon the next day. Sheng Xiping then settled Li Da Niang in and went to buy things for daily life.

After everything was ready, Sheng Xiping tried to find a car to return to the forest farm. By the time he got home, it was already 8 p.m.

"Oh, you're back so soon? Have you had dinner yet? I'll go heat up your food right away." As soon as Zhang Shuzhen saw her son return, she hurriedly went to start a fire to heat up the food.

After warming up inside for a while, Sheng Xiping went to the west room to find Zhou Qinglan and told her to tidy up the house so they could find a car and move to Songjianghe the next morning.

"For now, you and your daughter can move down. Xinhua and Xinyu, those two naughty kids, can stay at the forest farm. I'll talk to them when I have time, and let Xinhua go down to start primary school in the fall."

The two children absolutely refused to go to Songjiang River. Right now, Xinyue and Xinqi are too young, and there really isn't enough time to take care of them, so we'll leave them at the forest farm for now and wait until they start school.

"Okay, that's fine too. I'll do whatever you say." Zhou Qinglan had no objections and would follow Sheng Xiping's lead.

And so, Zhou Qinglan began packing her belongings. The next morning, Sheng Xiping borrowed a car from the forest farm and they moved the house down.

The factory workers already knew that Sheng Xiping had been laid off, and everyone was quite reluctant to see him go. Many of them took leave to come and help.

"Factory manager, if you quit, what will happen to our processing plant?" While moving things, the female workers couldn't help but feel sad.

These few female workers started it, and the others followed suit, sighing and groaning.

"Well, there are plenty of capable people in our forest farm. The new factory director is definitely more capable than me."

Don't worry, as long as I have the ability, I will help our factory get orders.

"You just need to focus on your work and don't worry about anything else." Sheng Xiping quickly reassured them when he saw this.

The new house has been furnished with a lot of things, including pots and pans, rice, flour, cooking oil, and so on. There's no need to move any furniture.

It was just Zhou Qinglan's two dowry chests, containing clothes, bedding, and some of her books. They were simply packed up and loaded onto the motorcycle.
