Chapter 393 Peking University

"Damn, how many points did you get? You actually got into Peking University?" Sheng Xiping couldn't help but blurt out a curse.

"Who knows? I don't know either, but I answered all the questions correctly, there wasn't one I didn't know."

Sheng Xikang shook his head; he didn't know either.

The main problem is that these days there's no process for checking answers or estimating scores, so Sheng Xikang himself wasn't sure.

"Oh dear, why bother with all this? Third brother, hurry up and pack your things, let's get in the car and go to the bureau."

Once we get there and ask around, we'll know everything, right?

Sheng Liancheng glanced at the clock on the wall. It was just nine o'clock. The little train shouldn't have arrived yet. He should hurry up and catch it.

"Big brother, why don't you go with third brother? He probably can't figure it out by himself. If you're going up the mountain tomorrow, I'll ask for leave for you."

Upon hearing this, Sheng Xiping nodded, "Okay, then I'll go down with Lao San."

With that, the two brothers changed their clothes, Sheng Xiping put some money in his pocket, then put on a crossbody bag, and the two brothers went out with umbrellas.

As soon as the two brothers arrived at the small train station, they heard a whistle in the distance, and then the little train came running up, puffing out black smoke.

The train stopped, the passengers got off, the cargo was unloaded, and then they went to refuel with water and coal before turning around and coming back.

On a rainy day, few people went out, and the two Sheng brothers got on the bus without any problems.

The little train whistled and started moving, carrying everyone straight to Songjiang River. Upon arriving at the Sen Tie (Forest Railway), the two brothers got off.

Although Qianchuan and Songjianghe are 70 miles apart, the weather can be quite different. It's raining in Qianchuan, but it's just overcast over Songjianghe, with no rain at all.

The two brothers ignored everything and strolled all the way to the street. They found a place to grab a quick bite and waited until 1:30 p.m. before heading straight to the Education Department of the Bureau building.

"Hey? Xiping, what brings you two here? When did you arrive? Why didn't you go home?"

They had barely entered the bureau building and taken two steps when they ran into Zhou Mingyuan. Zhou Mingyuan was quite puzzled to see the Sheng brothers and quickly asked them a question.

"Dad, didn't our third son take the college entrance exam this year? We haven't heard anything from him for so long, so we thought we'd come and ask him."

When his father-in-law asked him a question, Sheng Xiping had no choice but to answer honestly.

"Oh, right. It's been more than a month since the exams ended. Logically, it should be about time. I should ask."

Zhou Mingyuan nodded. "Come on, I'll go with you two. Let's go to the Education Bureau and ask around."

And so, Zhou Mingyuan accompanied the Sheng brothers to the Education Bureau's office.

As soon as I entered, I saw Director He of the Education Department on the phone. While on the phone, he was also scribbling something on a piece of paper, which looked like names or something.

After a long while, Director He finally hung up the phone and looked up at Zhou Mingyuan and the others.

"Oh, Director Zhou, when did you come in? I was so busy on the phone that I didn't notice. Please have a seat." Director He quickly invited Zhou Mingyuan to sit down.

Zhou Mingyuan waved his hand, "No, no, I just brought my nephew here to inquire about the college admissions. Is there any news yet?"

"You've come at just the right time. The call I just received was from the provincial government."

Our bureau has had some really impressive results this year; several people have been admitted to top universities, and one even got into Peking University.

Let me see what his name is again? Oh, it's Sheng Xikang, from Qianchuan Forestry Farm. Director Zhou, what's your eldest nephew's name? Let me check, see if he's on this list.”

Director He was very polite, looking at the list he had written down while asking questions.

"Where? No need to check. My eldest nephew is named Sheng Xikang."

Upon hearing that Sheng Xikang had been admitted to Peking University, Zhou Mingyuan was overjoyed and immediately pulled Sheng Xikang over.

"Look, this is my nephew. What do you think? Impressive, right? He got into Peking University."

"Oh my, this is the young man. He's amazing. He's the first person from our bureau to get into Peking University."

"Congratulations, Comrade Xiao Sheng!" Director He hurriedly extended his hand, offering his congratulations.
