Chapter 245 Returning Home

Chapter 246 Returning Home

Zhang Shouzhi also traveled with Sheng Xiping and the others by car.

He works at a coal mine in Fushun, and he still has a lot of work to do. It's already quite good that he was able to attend his nephew's wedding; he can't stay here for too long.

"Brother, be careful on your way back. If anything happens at home, remember to write or call the forest farm."

Sheng Liancheng and his wife saw him off at the small train station. Before leaving, Zhang Shuzhen looked at her elder brother with eyes full of reluctance.

She married far away to the Northeast, and her family and brothers and sisters live too far apart. They haven't seen each other for several years. This time we met briefly, and I don't know when we'll see each other again.

"Okay, don't worry, everything's fine on my end. You two take care, I'll come over when our second son gets married."

Zhang Shouzhi was also reluctant to leave, but he had no choice; he had a job and couldn't take too long a leave of absence.

Over there, Sheng Liancheng shook hands with Zhou Mingyuan and other relatives to say goodbye, and told them that they should definitely come to his house for a visit when they had the chance.

As they were talking, the small train turned around and completed its formation. The carriage doors opened, and many people from the forest farm boarded the train.

Zhou Mingyuan, Zhang Shouzhi, and the others waved goodbye to Sheng Liancheng and his wife, then turned and boarded the small train.

The operating hours of the Senkaku Railway are not fixed, but fortunately everything went smoothly today, and everyone arrived at the Senkaku Railway before noon.

Upon arriving at Songjiang River, this became the Zhou family's domain. Zhou Mingyuan hosted a dinner for Zhang Shouzhi.

After everyone finished eating at the restaurant, Sheng Xiping accompanied his uncle to the train station. Zhang Shouzhi needed to catch the afternoon train to Tonghua, and then take the train back to Fushun from Tonghua.

Sheng Xiping bought a train ticket for his uncle and stayed with Zhang Shouzhi until the train arrived at the station and the ticket was checked. He also helped put the things on the train before leaving the station and returning to the Zhou family.

The Zhou family had only moved here a few years ago, and they didn't have many social interactions. Besides, this was their daughter's wedding, not their son's, so the Zhou family didn't make any arrangements or accept any gifts.

The homecoming banquet on the 11th was very simple. It was just Zhou's relatives, along with a few leaders from the bureau and close friends. Two tables were set up at home to entertain them.

In the afternoon, Zhou Minghua and others took a car back to Hunjiang and Tonghua, and Sheng Xiping and Zhou Qinglan went to see them off at the station.

Zhou Minghua, Wang Zhongjing, and others held Sheng Xiping's hand and urged him to treat Zhou Qinglan well.

Don't forget to keep in touch by writing letters regularly. If anything happens here, send a telegram or make a phone call.

With all the relatives gone, Zhou Mingyuan and Wang Chunxiu quickly returned to work after their leave. Zhou Qingyue, needless to say, had missed several days of schoolwork due to her leave and needed to hurry back to school.

Everyone who went to work or school had left, leaving only Sheng Xiping and Zhou Qinglan at home. The two of them went to the movies and went shopping.

The newlyweds are inseparable, no matter where they go, and they are sweet and happy.

"Honey, you go home first. I have something to do and I'll be home in a bit."

Sheng Xiping and Zhou Qinglan went to buy groceries in the afternoon, planning to cook something nice for Zhou Mingyuan and his wife when they got back, as a way of showing their filial piety.

As he was carrying the groceries back home, Sheng Xiping suddenly spotted a familiar figure.

Sheng Xiping's expression changed, and he immediately told Zhou Qinglan to go home by herself.

Before Zhou Qinglan could say anything, Sheng Xiping jogged off, following the familiar figure all the way from near the Forestry Bureau store to the alley near the No. 7 Grain Store.

The man in front was carrying some things. He stopped in front of the gate of a bungalow and knocked on the door.

A moment later, someone inside asked, "Who is it?"

It was a woman's voice, sounding to be around thirty years old, soft and alluring.

"It's me, open the door quickly," the person outside whispered back.

Then, the door opened, and a woman in her thirties walked out. She had short hair, an oval face, beautiful eyebrows and eyes, and wore well-fitting clothes. Her every move exuded an indescribable charm.

"You rascal, you still remember me? I thought you'd forgotten about me long ago."

As soon as the woman opened the door and saw the man outside, her expression changed, and she turned to close the door.

The man, with a smirk, strode into the yard. "Look at you," he said, "I've only been away for a few days, and you're giving me attitude."

My wife, the tigress, hasn't been feeling well lately and is in the hospital again. I can't just leave her behind and come find you, can I?

If she finds out about us, she'll skin us alive!

As the man spoke, he reached out and put his arm around the woman's waist, then kicked the door shut.

Sheng Xiping stood at the entrance of the alley, about thirty meters away from the bungalow, watching the man eagerly embrace the woman and enter the house, and couldn't help but snort coldly.

What a coincidence! Before he could even make a move, this guy ran right into him.

Well, that saves me some trouble. Just wait and see, there's more to come.

Sheng Xiping glanced at the bungalow, noted its exact location, and then turned and left.

When he returned to the Zhou family home, Zhou Qinglan had already cooked rice and stir-fried dishes, just waiting for Zhou Mingyuan and Wang Chunxiu to come home from get off work so they could eat.

"What were you doing just now? You walked away pretty fast, and you didn't even answer when I called you." Zhou Qinglan glared at Sheng Xiping and asked him.

In Sheng Xiping's eyes, Zhou Qinglan's stern and questioning demeanor was just cute and fierce, not threatening at all.

"I just ran into someone I knew. He owed me something before, and since I finally ran into him, of course I had to ask him about it."

Taking advantage of the fact that no one was home, Sheng Xiping pulled his wife close and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

"What? You thought I went to see some woman?"

"Pah, you're going to date women? I'd like to see if you dare!"

Zhou Qinglan raised an eyebrow, her almond-shaped eyes gleaming with water, and glared fiercely at Sheng Xiping. She then reached out and pinched the soft flesh of Sheng Xiping's waist.

"No, no, absolutely not. Look, how could I possibly have the guts?"

Sheng Xiping wasn't angry at being pinched; he continued to joke and tease his wife with a grin. "I have you, that's enough. I can't handle anything more."

Zhou Qinglan blushed at Sheng Xiping's inappropriate words and raised her hand to pinch him again, but at that moment, Zhou Qingyue came back from outside with his schoolbag on his back.

"Sister, brother-in-law, what are you two doing? Is dinner ready? When are we eating? I'm starving!"

It seems like the first thing school children do when they come home is to say they're hungry; I don't know how they manage to be so uniform.

"Eat, eat, eat, all you ever think about is eating. Mom and Dad aren't even back yet, and you're already eating. What else can you do besides eat?"

Zhou Qinglan glared at her younger brother angrily and scolded him.

Zhou Qingyue looked at Sheng Xiping with an innocent expression and silently asked, "What's wrong with her?"

Sheng Xiping shrugged, spread his hands, shook his head, and looked equally innocent.

I can't exactly tell my brother-in-law that his sister got angry with me earlier, so she's taking it out on him now, can I?

Hehe, brother-in-law, I'm sorry, but that's your sister, so just bear with it.

Sheng Xiping thought to himself, and seeing Zhou Qinglan scooping rice from the pot, he quickly took the spoon from her. "I'll do it, you go inside and rest."
