Chapter 334 Tough Encounter

When the old lady saw her son, whose face was rosy and who was sitting upright talking to Su Ruyi, she immediately covered her mouth and tears welled up in her eyes.

When Chef Wang saw the large bump on his mother's head, he immediately remembered hearing her fall at the door before he fainted that morning. He quickly got up and said, "Mother! It's all my fault for making you suffer!"

Chef Wang's mother covered her mouth tightly, shook her head, and tears streamed down her face. After a long while, she finally spoke, "Son, are you... are you feeling better?"

Upon hearing this, Chef Wang hurriedly pulled his mother to Su Ruyi's side: "Mother, look who this is?"

Chef Wang's mother wiped away her tears and looked closely: "Dr. Su?! Dr. Su, is that you?"

She rushed forward and grabbed Su Ruyi's hands: "You saved my son's life?"

Su Ruyi nodded and said, "Master Wang's illness is no longer a problem."

"Dr. Su, you are a great benefactor to our Wang family!" Chef Wang's mother's knees buckled and she knelt down in front of Su Ruyi. "Last time you came, you helped this old woman who was paralyzed on the kang get out of bed with just a few acupuncture needles, and you also cured my blind daughter-in-law! This time, you cured my son too!"

Su Ruyi quickly pulled her up: "Grandma, please don't do this!"

At this moment, Juanzi and the onlookers were all dumbfounded.

None of them expected that what the little girl said was true!

Juanzi moved closer with small, delicate steps: "Husband, my eyes... was it really this little girl who cured them?"

"Slap!" Upon hearing this, Chef Wang slapped her across the face. "What little girl? Call her Doctor Su! If it wasn't Doctor Su who cured her, who was? Your savior is right in front of you, and you call her a little girl?!"

"When did you tell me that the miracle doctor was a woman, and so young at that..."

Juanzi staggered from the blow, muttered a few words, and then looked at Su Ruyi with eyes full of gratitude. She became very excited, "Dr. Su! Dr. Su, I've been blind for three years, and you cured me with just one acupuncture needle and a few doses of medicine! When I left home this morning, my husband couldn't breathe at all! I went to the hospital and knelt down to beg that doctor, kowtowing seven or eight times before he finally agreed to come! If only I had known..."

Then she turned to Chef Wang and said, "Honey, why don't you ask Doctor Su to come and treat you?"

Upon hearing this, Chef Wang looked at Su Ruyi again, his face turning even redder: "I... I was embarrassed at first... I gave away the life-saving medicine that Doctor Su gave me... How could I have the face to ask Doctor Su to treat my illness? But who knew that my illness would suddenly worsen these past two days! I was just too embarrassed to ask if I could pull through!"

“Master Wang, you…” Su Ruyi sighed, “Is face more important than life? Just the fact that you and my master have been friends for many years is enough. Not to mention, you just rescued me, my grandfather, and my friend from that Han guy a few days ago!”

"I heard from Grandpa Su that the medicinal ingredient is extremely difficult to make, and it took you a long time..." Chef Wang's voice lowered, "And I heard that it won't be possible to make this medicinal ingredient again this year..."

“Even without that medicinal ingredient, I have other ways to cure you,” Su Ruyi said with a sigh, shaking her head. “But I’m here now. If I hadn’t come today…”

At this moment, she missed her cell phone from her previous life terribly.

If we had cell phones, this would never have happened.

However, the thought only flashed through my mind.

Just then, a neighbor came up to Chef Wang and said, "Changping, what about that person sleeping in the middle of your yard? Aren't you going to take care of them?"

This neighbor lady was very clever and spoke in a pleasant tone. Su Ruyi looked towards the middle of the yard, where the doctor with the bulbous nose who had bumped his head was still unconscious.

Su Ruyi used her divine sense to check—it was just a mild concussion.

Juanzi, as if waking from a dream, hurriedly whispered to Chef Wang, "I went to the hospital to ask for an ambulance, but neither of the two ambulances were there. I had to plead and beg, and finally gave that...that ring of yours to this Dr. Hu before he came with me..."

"What did you say?!" Despite Juanzi's deliberate attempt to lower her voice, he instantly flew into a rage. "Didn't I tell you not to touch my ring?!"

With that, Chef Wang got up and walked towards the center of the courtyard.

The neighborhood aunties followed along, saying, "I know this doctor. He works in the internal medicine department of the People's Hospital. His surname is Hu, and his nickname is 'Hu the Medicine Prescriber'!"

Another middle-aged woman squeezed in: "That Dr. Hu is so wicked! He just falsely accused this young girl of being your lover!"

"That's right, they even said the little girl knocked your mom unconscious!" The older women chimed in.

"He even made us hold the girl down because he wanted to search her!"

"If you ask me, he's—ugh—a complete scoundrel!"

"Luckily, this little girl is strong; she threw him out!"

"Little girl, have you practiced martial arts before?"

"Aren't you deaf? Didn't you hear Wang Changping say that this young girl is a miracle doctor?"

"A miracle doctor... is he really that strong?"

...

Chef Wang had already walked up to Doctor Hu, and his face turned very gloomy as he listened to what the older women were saying.

Juanzi followed and muttered softly, "That thumb ring, I saw him wearing it on his left thumb!"

Chef Wang used his toes to lift Dr. Hu's left arm, revealing his left thumb.

It was completely empty.

Chef Wang squatted down and searched through all of the boy's pockets.

They only found a little over eighty yuan and a fountain pen.

Chef Wang packed it back for him.

Then a bucket of water was brought up and splashed onto Doctor Hu's face with a splash.

Dr. Hu jolted awake.

Seeing a bunch of heads surrounding him, he paused for a few seconds before realizing what had happened.

His gaze accurately found Su Ruyi standing at the very back of the crowd. He pointed at her and was about to speak when Chef Wang kicked him to the ground.

"Where's my thumb ring?" Chef Wang leaned closer to him and asked in a low voice.

"That thumb ring was yours, wasn't it? Now it's mine! It was supposed to be mine, it's part of my consultation fee!" Dr. Hu retorted without backing down, raising his left thumb as he spoke, then paused, "Where did my thumb ring go?"

"Who do you think you are, to wear the ring I specially found for Doctor Su?" Chef Wang roared, lifting Doctor Hu up at the same time.

When Dr. Hu was lifted up a second time, he realized that the dark-skinned, muscular man in front of him was a tough nut to crack. So he started kicking his legs frantically again: "I...I was just thrown out, I must have fallen to the ground, you...you go look for it first!"
