"What's going on?" Shen Qianqian had just asked when several men in black got out of the black car.
They didn't say much, but simply gestured for the two of them to enter, saying, "President Ding invites you in."
Upon hearing the name "President Ding," Shen Qianqian and Lu Yunzhi immediately associated it with Ding Fei.
“Ding Fei has always liked to use his power to make things difficult for people,” Lu Yunzhi said, adding that they were now in a bind.
If they don't get on the bus as the Ding family wishes, they probably won't be able to leave this place today. But if they do get on the bus, they probably won't be able to escape the Ding family's clutches.
Seeing the two men in black hesitating, the men's patience had reached its limit. They were just working for Ding Hai, and if they didn't return on time, they would inevitably face another scolding.
They looked at each other, then reached an agreement. Since they weren't willing to do it themselves, then they would have to do it for them!
Several men in black surrounded them, but Lu Yunzhi stepped in front of Shen Qianqian, saying, "No need to trouble yourself. We can get in the car ourselves."
"Great!" the man in black said, immediately making way for them. This path led to one of the cars, but Lu Yunzhi was now looking at the surroundings.
This was probably when the men in black were least alert. He raised an eyebrow slightly at Shen Qianqian, who understood and gripped his hand tightly.
The two walked only ten meters forward, found a gap between the two men in black, and immediately squeezed through the gap, running forward with all their might.
"Damn it!" After realizing what was happening, the men in black got into their cars and prepared to drive around the area.
Fortunately, Shen Qianqian and Lu Yunzhi were lucky this time. They had just broken out of the men in black when they were stopped by a car.
"Help us get rid of the cars behind us," Lu Yunzhi said to the driver.
The driver glanced at the black car honking incessantly behind him through the rearview mirror, and suddenly...
He suddenly recalled his flamboyant youth. His hands rested on the steering wheel. "Don't worry, leave this to me!"
The driver used to work for a family when he was younger, and he had encountered more complex and difficult situations than he was in now. Compared to him, the driving skills of these men in black were simply no match.
He easily left the men in black behind and drove them to a hotel in the suburbs before stopping the car.
"How was my driving? Pretty good, right?" The driver got out of the car, his hand...
He was leaning against the car door, a coat draped over his shoulders.
"Of course!" Lu Yunzhi helped Shen Qianqian out of the car, and when he looked up and met the driver's eyes again, he found that his eyes were strange.
The driver stared intently at Shen Qianqian's face, unwilling to look away, and even his lips were trembling.
"Young...Young Miss..."
"What?" Lu Yunzhi and Shen Qianqian said in unison.
"I'm Uncle Chen." Uncle Chen walked up to Shen Qianqian and said excitedly, "You've seen me grow up since I was a child."
After he finished speaking, he shook his head and said as if talking to himself, "No, you shouldn't be the young lady. We old guys are all half-buried in the ground, and the young lady shouldn't be as young as she used to be."
He then asked, "Little sister, do you know Miss Zhang Wei?"
"Of course I know, she's my mother." Shen Qianqian felt a surge of emotion as she spoke to a complete stranger.
Hearing her mother's name from a stranger was a very strange thing, and she asked curiously, "Uncle Chen, do you know my mother?"
"She...she's your mother?" Uncle Chen's feelings were now extremely complicated. He sighed and began to tell the story of the past.
"Your mother was the only daughter in the Zhang family, with an older brother. She was pampered and protected by the master and others since she was a child. It's just a pity that after the young lady grew up, she fell in love with a poor boy."
"At the time, the master and the others strongly opposed it. After all, that poor boy had nothing, so how could he bring happiness to the young lady? But the young lady took a fancy to him and even declared that she would marry no one but him in this life."
"Finally, the young lady had a huge fight with her family and eloped with the poor boy. She's been gone for over twenty years!"
Uncle Chen's eyes suddenly filled with tears as he spoke, "The young lady is truly heartless. She's been gone for so many years, without any contact with the family, and she couldn't even come back to see the master one last time!"
"You mean... Grandpa is gone?" Shen Qianqian asked incredulously, then thought of how her mother used to sit alone by the window, carefully wiping the photo album containing pictures of her grandparents.
"Mom must often think about Grandpa and Grandma, and I even saw her send letters to them when I was little." Thinking of this, Shen Qianqian recalled the days when she accompanied her mother to send letters.
Zhang Wei is a person who values rituals. Before writing a letter, she always chooses the prettiest stationery and prepares a small sprig of dried flower, just enough to fit in the envelope. She writes her longing for her parents on the stationery, stroke by stroke, and finally seals the letter with an iris, a symbol of her longing.
At that time, Shen Qianqian was still young, and Zhang Wei took her to the post office for a whole week.
Seeing her mother's often disappointed and dejected face, she would pat Zhang Wei's shoulder comfortingly with her little hand, "Mom, it's okay. No matter what happens to you, I'll always be by your side!"
"Mmm." Zhang Wei's eyes reddened, and she hugged Shen Qianqian tightly. After a long while, she looked towards the distant horizon, "It's a pity they don't want me to go back..."
Later, in Shen Qianqian's memory, Zhang Wei never carefully prepared a letter again, nor did she ever go to the post office to wait for that unknown letter to arrive...
