Chapter 193 First Meeting with Grandma

Uncle Chen was stunned when he learned this story. He slowly shook his head. "Impossible, absolutely impossible."

"What's impossible?"

“The master thought of the young lady until his death, there is absolutely no way he would have ignored her letter!” Uncle Chen was very certain, “There must have been some mistake in the middle of this.”

Uncle Chen turned and got into the car, waving for Shen Qianqian and Lu Yunzhi to get in as well.

"Come with me, let's go find the old lady, and then we'll know the truth of the matter."

The car drove along the winding road for a long time until it stopped in front of a manor.

"This is where the old lady is currently living," Uncle Chen said.

Shen Qianqian pushed open the door and entered. The first thing she saw was an elegantly dressed old woman carefully tending to her flowers and plants with a watering can. The old woman looked almost exactly like her grandmother in her mother's photo album.

Perhaps it was the pull of family ties that made Shen Qianqian blurt out, "Grandma!"

Hearing the noise, Gao Yalan looked up and, upon recognizing the person, the flowerpot slipped from her hand. "Wei...Wei!"

She stepped forward and grasped Shen Qianqian's hand affectionately and anxiously, "Is it really you? You've finally decided to come back and see us."

As Gao Yalan spoke, two lines of tears streamed down her face. Over the years, she had been completely unable to contact her daughter to understand her feelings, and only she herself knew the depth of her suffering.

Uncle Chen had followed the Zhang family for so long, and he was naturally moved by the scene before him.

"Yes," he said, his voice trembling, "Madam, have you seen clearly who this person in front of you is?"

"She is not our Miss Vivi, but Miss Vivi's daughter, your own granddaughter!"

Upon hearing this, Gao Yalan adjusted her glasses and put on the glasses hanging around her neck.

Jing finally saw the person in front of her clearly; it was indeed not her Weiwei... but the child of her most beloved youngest daughter!

"Good child, what's your name? Where is your mother? How has she been all these years? And why hasn't she dared to contact her family for so long?" Gao Yalan bombarded Shen Qianqian with a series of questions, as if this could fill the gaps in their more than twenty years of separation.

Finally, she tapped her head and smiled sheepishly, saying, "Look at my brain, I'm getting old and my memory isn't working so well anymore. I was so busy asking you questions that I forgot to invite you in and have a seat."

After Gao Yalan finished speaking, she hurriedly invited them into the house and had someone pour them a cup of hot tea.

She raised her teacup, took a small sip, and calmed down before asking Shen Qianqian, "Tell me about your lives over the years."

"Okay, Grandma." Shen Qianqian recounted all the big and small things in her life since she could remember, mostly picking out the good things to talk about, and only mentioning her parents' divorce in passing.

“Good, good, good!” Gao Yalan nodded repeatedly. “It’s enough to hear that Weiwei has been doing well all these years.”

Thinking back on the past, she felt another wave of regret: "If I hadn't listened to Wang Fang back then, we wouldn't be in this mess now. It's all our own fault!"

"Who is Wang Fang?" Shen Qianqian asked, puzzled.

"Let me tell you slowly," Gao Yalan sighed, and began to recount her past.

“She’s your aunt. Back then, my husband and I were about to agree to let your dad become a son-in-law who moved into our family home. But Wang Fang jumped in and vehemently opposed it. My husband and I were already wavering on this matter, and after hearing what she said, we agreed with her idea—we absolutely had to oppose their relationship!”

"Then, as you know, your parents fled, and we lost contact with her for more than 20 years."

"But Mom has been in contact with you all these years." Shen Qianqian added.

He said, "If you don't believe me, you can call your mother now and talk to her face to face."

"What's your mother's phone number?" Gao Yalan asked, delighted to hear that she could talk to her little one.

When his daughter got in touch, he didn't have time to say anything else; he went straight to the phone and dialed the number himself.

Even though she had prepared her thoughts beforehand, she couldn't utter a single word after hearing Zhang Wei's voice on the other end of the phone. Instead, tears streamed down her face.

Zhang Wei, on the other end of the phone, was also completely confused. "Hello, did you dial the wrong number?"

Then a soft voice came from the other end of the phone, "Mom, it was Grandma who just called."

Upon hearing these words, Zhang Wei reacted almost exactly like Gao Yalan, tears instantly streaming down her face.

It's Mom.

It was her mother, whom she hadn't been able to contact for over twenty years!

The two of them cried for quite a while until they calmed down, and then they talked on the phone again, thousands of miles apart, to express their longing for each other over the years.

That night, the two talked almost all night long. Zhang Wei made up her mind and went to the train station in the middle of the night to head south. Gao Yalan was also determined not to let anyone who tried to ruin their mother-daughter relationship get away with it!

So, the next day, as soon as Shen Qianqian went downstairs, she saw her grandmother, who was sitting in the hall early in the morning, dressed neatly and smartly.

Good morning, Grandma.

"Good morning," Gao Yalan said to Shen Qianqian with great enthusiasm. "Eat breakfast quickly. Then we'll go pick up your mother and visit your uncle's family."

She figured it out last night: there are some people who shouldn't be in the Zhang family, and they should get rid of her as soon as possible!

After breakfast, the family went to the station to pick up Zhang Wei, as Gao Yalan had instructed, and finally arrived at the door of a villa.
