When she was a child, she had a nightmare in which she dreamed of ghosts chasing her. She ran all the way home and slammed the door shut. Then she heard two majestic voices, angrily asking the ghosts why they were chasing her. The ghosts then disappeared in an instant.
Although it was just a dream, from then on, whenever she returned home at night and saw the pair of door gods on her door, her frightened heart would always calm down.
Ji Huaizhi did not laugh at her feudal superstition. He took the item and paid for it readily.
The two of them walked side by side in the alley, the afternoon sun shining on their bodies, making them feel warm. They chatted with each other, and the atmosphere was rare and harmonious.
However, when they were almost at the doorstep, this harmonious atmosphere came to an abrupt end.
I saw Bai Li squatting at the door, wearing thin clothes, her hands wrapped around her knees, her bright eyes looking towards the alley entrance longingly, like... a wife waiting for her husband to come home.
When she saw the two figures, a smile bloomed on her slightly pale face. She stood up and ran towards Ji Huaizhi happily: "Huaizhi!"
