Chapter 5 Yellow eel

Listening to the sound of Lin Wanluo's lock, Li Mu held his forehead with the corner of his mouth and thought a little embarrassedly.

"I'm not some wealthy wolf or tiger. Is Wanwan so afraid that I will do something to her?"

After clearing the things on the table, Li Mu carried the plates to the kitchen and washed the dishes with the water from the last remaining fire.

After clearing the dishes, Li Mu shook his neck, stretched, and rummaged around in the kitchen, wanting to see what was left at home so that he could get up early the next morning to make breakfast for the mother and daughter.

After searching the kitchen for a long time, he found nothing except a handful of noodles and the lard in the kitchen oil can.

Li Mu sighed deeply, thought about the stupid thing he did yesterday, and slapped himself hard.

I decided secretly in my heart:

"We don't have anything at home. I must buy some meat tomorrow when I make some money to feed the two of them. They both look too thin. Doesn't the textile factory provide meals? Why does Xiaowan still look so thin? Could it be that the meat we ate before was saved by Xiaowan? She saved it for me."

Thinking of this, Li Mu wanted to slap himself again, but when he thought about having to go out to make money tomorrow and his face would be swollen, he was afraid that it would be inappropriate, so he barely stopped and wanted to slap himself.

"But...what should I do now to earn my first pot of gold?"

...

...

Li Mu walked to the steps outside the yard, feeling the breeze, looking at the starry night sky, and became dazed.

At this moment, the sound of several men talking from time to time could be heard beside me.

"Let me tell you, my bastard went swimming in the river yesterday and caught a few black, slippery fish-like things. My wife thought they were scary and wanted to throw them away. I walked over and saw that they were the yellow eels that we often play with in the countryside. I cleaned them up a bit and fried them for them to eat. You know what, they tasted pretty good."

"Really? I'll try catching a few someday."

"This thing is hard to catch, so we'll eat it if we can. Instead of wasting time, we might as well have a drink and chat."

“Hahahaha, that’s right.”

As the two walked away, the sound gradually became quieter and the place returned to its former tranquility.

When Li Mu heard about the eel, he immediately became interested.

"This stuff is good. Wild eels can regulate blood sugar, replenish qi, and improve brain function. Many people find it troublesome and are unwilling to go down to the river to catch them. Some rich people have never even eaten them."

"It's best to catch yellow eels at night. You don't need any bait. Just go to the river with a flashlight and catch them. There should be quite a lot of them in this season."

Thinking of this, Li Mu immediately stood up and walked to the kitchen and began looking for tools that could be used to catch eels.

Li Mu grabbed a bucket and walked towards the river.

The river surface sparkled at night, the moonlight was reflected on the lake, and the surroundings were silent.

Fortunately, the river water was not so cold at this time, but when Li Mu went into the water, his body still shivered involuntarily.

Li Mu shone the flashlight on the clear river surface. The fish in the water were startled by the noise of Li Mu going into the water and ran around in panic.

Li Mu was so frightened that he dared not move. He could only stand there and silently observe the movements in the water.

Just then, a yellow eel slowly came out of the hole to look for food. Li Mu grabbed it quickly and accurately, and before the eel could react, he threw it into the bucket on the shore.

Because this season is the time when eels are available, Li Mu caught a big bucket full of them in a short time.

Li Mu looked at the full bucket of eels and went home contentedly.

When he thought that he could sell the eels in the bucket tomorrow and buy meat for Wanwan and his daughter, Li Mu's mouth curled up and he hummed a little tune.

After returning home, Li Mu put the eels into a large bucket with a lid. He waited until the next morning to go to the city and sell them.

After processing the eels, Li Mu took a casual shower and then fell into a deep sleep on the bed.

Lin Wan felt relieved only after she heard the noise of Li Mu returning in the room. From the time Li Mu left to the time he returned, Lin Wan had been sleeping in a daze and not very serenely. She would wake up from the slightest noise from time to time. It was not until Li Mu returned home and she heard his snoring that Lin Wan fell into a deep sleep.

The warm April sun shone through the window glass into Li Mu's eyes, making Li Mu, who was still sleeping, feel uncomfortable for a moment. He squinted his eyes slightly, raised his hand to block the sunlight, yawned, and slowly woke up.

Li Mu sat on the bed for a while, then stood up and tried to find a piece of clothing from the closet. When he opened the closet, he saw a coat with holes all over it. Li Mu held his forehead and sighed.

At the bottom of the closet, he found a washed-out shirt and army green pants and put them on. Looking at his sunny and handsome face in the mirror, Li Mu nodded with satisfaction.

After quickly cleaning himself up, Li Mu went to the kitchen and tried to make a fire the same way he saw Lin Wan do yesterday. He failed several times, but finally succeeded after his unremitting efforts the last time.

Looking at the ingredients in front of him, Li Mu planned to make noodles with scallion oil. When he entered the kitchen, he saw that Lin Wan had planted several bunches of scallions outside the kitchen.

Li Mu walked out of the kitchen, plucked a handful of green onions, washed them with clean water, and cut them. Heat the pan, pour lard into the pan, add the washed and drained shallots, fry the shallots until they turn brown, remove them, put the oil in a bowl, add light soy sauce and salt.

Add cold water and bring the water to a boil, then put the noodles in and cook until they are slightly undercooked. Take them out and put them in a winnowing basket, then rinse them with cold water under the tap.

Add it to three bowls, pour in the sauce, and bowls of fragrant scallion oil noodles are ready.

Looking at the three bowls of noodles in front of him, Li Mu felt a sense of accomplishment.

As early as when Li Mu was frying scallion oil, Lin Wan was awakened from her sleep by the aroma. While she was still wondering whose house the aroma came from, Li Mu had already entered the house from the kitchen carrying three bowls of noodles.

Li Mu shouted to the two people in the room in a somewhat teasing manner: "You two lazy bastards, come out to eat noodles. The sun is about to burn your buttocks."

Hearing Li Mu's voice, Lin Wan's face was full of disbelief. Li Mu actually got up so early. Normally, he would sleep until the sun was shining before getting up. But today, he not only got up early, but also cooked noodles for us mother and daughter?

In order to confirm her guess, Lin Wan patted Ruoruo's little butt and called softly, "Baby, get up and have breakfast."

"No.....No.....It smells so good...I'm hungry."

Ruoruo, who was still lying in bed, immediately became a greedy little cat when she smelled the fragrance coming from the living room. She sat up, and as if afraid that her mother didn't know, she pointed to her stomach and said in a pretentious manner.
