Chapter 108 Dispute

The fat man was surprised to receive something. His eyes widened as he looked at the box containing four bottles of wine in his hand.

Alcohol wasn't a big deal in the past, but things are different now.

Now only those who are capable or wealthy can enjoy it.

The money here isn't the same money we used to buy things before the apocalypse.

That kind of money is worthless now; you wouldn't even bother wiping your bottom with it. The money we're talking about now is the virtual currency currently in circulation.

At first, there was no other way; we had to discard our old banknotes because we couldn't buy anything.

Later, bartering became the norm. As long as both parties felt it was a good fit and were willing to exchange items, it was a viable method to get what they wanted.

Then there's the "money" used later, which is virtual currency, or points.

It's quite convenient to use the corresponding product to match the appropriate item or something of equal value.

The only thing is to keep your card safe and make sure you don't lose it, because you can't get a replacement.

I heard that scientists are still researching how to make it look like a watch or a bracelet. That would be more convenient and less likely to be lost or stolen.

Take it slow, we should figure it out eventually. Humans are very capable.

The fat man, holding the box, was at a loss and wanted to refuse, but Yu Yanbin stopped him. "You've helped us a lot, you must accept this small token of our appreciation, otherwise we won't feel at ease."

Seeing Yu Yanbin's sincere expression, the fat man reluctantly accepted it.

He gave Yu Yanbin a few more instructions before turning to leave.

It was a bit funny to see the fat man hunched over, clutching the box tightly to his chest, as if afraid someone would see it.

Without suitable boxes or bags, the fat guy will have to suffer a bit.

Yu Yanbin glanced around. They were at the back, and no one was paying attention to them.

Only after the fat man pointed it out did they realize that they were now in the passageway on the right. There was another passageway on the left, with an even longer line of people and vehicles.

The right side was mostly filled with cars, and they initially thought that cars were going this way, but that wasn't the case.

The fat man just told them that this is a special passage for people with superpowers, so that they can easily come and go to do their missions.

The first time you enter the base, you always go to the left. Only after you enter the base and get a pass can you go to the right.

They benefited from Tang Yi and his group; following behind them made it faster to enter the base.

A few bottles of wine are worth it; they save you a lot of trouble, so it's definitely worth it.

Yu Yanbin gestured to Xiao Peng to prepare the things they would need to bring into the base, something Tang Yi had emphasized before.

Everyone has to pay a certain amount of supplies or something of equal value to enter the base; that's why it's not so easy to get into the base.

Xiao Peng had already cleared out the number of people and prepared the corresponding quantity, piling them up in the car aisle.

Yu Yanbin walked up to Sun Ping, who was with Zhou Lingyu, and asked, "Have you prepared your things?"

Sun Ping was looking around nervously as Yu Yanbin walked in front of her.

I was completely dumbfounded when I heard that I needed to prepare something.

Yu Yanbin frowned even more when he saw her feigning ignorance. "You haven't forgotten, have you? When I brought you out, I said I was only bringing you to the base. I'm not responsible for anything else."

Hearing Yu Yanbin's indifferent voice, Sun Ping became even more nervous. She tried to shrink her body as much as possible, looking quite pitiful.

"Captain, no, no," she tried to say something, but Yu Yanbin impatiently interrupted her, "There's no 'no.' You have to figure out your own problems. I've done more than enough."

Her voice was as cold as ice. Sun Ping had stopped pretending and raised her head, staring intently at Yu Yanbin's face, her expression full of anger.

Yu Yanbin pretended not to see it and turned to leave.

Seeing that there was no room for maneuver, Sun Ping lowered her head and pondered other methods, hoping to get away with it.

More and more people gathered behind them, all of them returning to base after completing their missions.

This kind of trivial matter would hardly attract attention, but a nosy kid saw it and, thinking he was right, started making a fuss.

"Hey, hey, are you guys just going to abandon this place? Are you just going to leave it here like this? That's going too far!"

Yu Yanbin stopped and turned to look at the source of the sound.

Li Xiao and the others were standing not far away and had seen what was happening. They must be idiots.

Cheng Shaolin walked up to Yu Yanbin, quite curious about what else this idiot would say.

"What, do you have a problem with that?" Yu Yanbin smiled faintly, a slight smirk playing on his lips.

Those who know him well understand that this means he is unhappy.

"Oh, what's wrong with me? I just don't like it." The kid stood there casually, arms crossed.

"Heh, there are plenty of things I can't stand. If you can't stand them, then don't look at them," Yu Yanbin really didn't want to argue with this kind of idiot; it was a bit foolish of him.

Yu Yanbin glanced at Cheng Shaolin, and Cheng Shaolin's eyes conveyed a similar meaning.

Is this fool still thinking he's a spoiled brat from the past?

We're preparing to enter the base now, and we really don't have time to waste here with these idiots. We have a lot more to do.

But this fool just keeps looking for trouble and won't let it go.

"You people are really ruthless. You even got to the base gate and then abandoned the person. There's no way a person can behave like this."

Some people around who didn't know the situation actually believed it, and they pointed and commented, their faces full of condemnation.

The scene looked familiar, and Li Xiao quickly thought of those keyboard warriors from the past.

They assume they are right without understanding the situation, and start spouting their opinions without considering whether the facts are correct or whether the truth is what they are saying.

Even if you're wrong in the end, a simple, weak apology and deletion will suffice.

He doesn't care whether those being talked about or condemned will be harmed.

In their eyes, those are all minor matters. If they make a mistake, they can simply delete it with one click, and no one will hold them accountable.

Sometimes, human nature is so dirty. You can never see your own dark heart, but you can magnify the slightest mistake of others.

Even in the apocalypse, it seems the versions are all pretty much the same.

While the people around were still indignantly watching the spectacle, that brat was smugly shaking his leg, looking all high and mighty.

Li Xiao didn't want to indulge him, so she walked up to the kid and said, "Hey, are you sick in the head?"

The person on the other end was surprised to find that it was a beautiful woman who spoke, and their eyes widened immediately.

"Oh, you're really sick. If you're sick, go see a doctor and take your medicine, or you'll accidentally run out and bite people."

At this moment, the brat noticed that Li Xiao was cursing at him. "Hey, I didn't want to argue with you because you're good-looking, but you're getting cocky. You'd better apologize to me right now, or I'll be very rude to you."

Li Xiao looked at the teenager across from her, who was about to jump up and down. He looked to be about 16 or 17 years old. How could he be so childish? Was he being overprotected?
