Chapter 109 Explaining

Li Xiao didn't want to waste any more time. "Have you even understood the situation? You're just babbling on and on. Besides, isn't it a bit much to meddle in other people's business instead of your own? You can't just watch everyone else's drama. Maybe in the end, you'll be the one watching everyone else's drama instead of watching others' drama."

The furry child paused, then grinned and chuckled again: "Are you worried about me?"

Li Xiao then realized she had made a stupid mistake and rolled her eyes at herself.

Well, there's no point in saying more.

"How naive." Li Xiao was too lazy to say anything more. She walked back to the car; it was almost their turn.

Just as the kid was about to continue speaking, Cheng Shaolin gave him a look, and the kid swallowed the words he was about to blurt out.

Cheng Shaolin, who had been standing next to Li Xiao for a long time, had long been fed up with this brat's endless chatter.

It's absolutely unacceptable to try to make fun of Li Xiao now.

Cheng Shaolin stood beside Li Xiao the whole time she came out. A person as tall and imposing as him was bound to attract attention.

Actually, the pet had noticed it a long time ago, but since he hadn't said anything, the pet chose to ignore it.

Now, seeing Cheng Shaolin's emotionless and even cold eyes, I realize I was wrong.

This man gives off a strong aura. He wanted to say something more, but Cheng Shaolin spoke first: "Think it over before you speak. We need to see your abilities before making any decisions about managing things." He then turned to Sun Ping and said, "Don't you think so?"

Sun Ping was surprised that Cheng Shaolin would suddenly speak to her. The smug look on her face was still there, and it was now laid bare in front of everyone.

Sun Ping was stunned for a moment; it was completely unexpected. She was overjoyed to see someone stand up for her.

Now, that gloating expression had nowhere to hide and was exposed without warning. Sun Ping was embarrassed and didn't know what to do.

Cheng Shaolin laughed, "Do you want to tell us how you got to be with us? You should have some self-awareness. If you don't want to contribute your own supplies, that's fine too." Sun Ping looked up at Cheng Shaolin, her face flushed, wondering what he was about to say.

“Look over there, there’s nothing there, no supplies. You can do the same as them. Nobody’s forcing you,” Cheng Shaolin said calmly, then glanced at the little kid who was still watching them from a distance.

Sun Ping followed Cheng Shaolin's gaze and saw a circle of tents along the corner of the wall. Some weren't tents at all, but rather frames made of wood or wooden strips, with cloth or clothing draped over them. They were colorful and varied in style.

A group of people in tattered clothes lay or sat in a makeshift tent, skin and bones, some even missing limbs.

On the parched, scorched earth, a row of tents of various colors and styles were set up on both sides of the entrance to the base.

Sun Ping just saw someone frantically snatching the little food that others had finally found, which was just a few biscuits.

Seeing this scene, Sun Ping was terrified. Was she destined to live like these people? Like a refugee?

Sun Ping's eyes widened; she didn't want this to happen. But if they didn't help her get the supplies out, she wouldn't be able to get into the base, and she would be kicked out like a beggar.

Sun Ping was struggling internally. How could these people be like this? They had so many supplies, why couldn't they help her? How could they be so selfish?

She was terrified. Nothing had happened along the way, and she had almost forgotten that she was supposed to go to the base.

Now that I'm stuck, why won't they help me? Why put me in this difficult position?

Sun Ping burst into tears, sobbing as she said, "How could you do this? Why didn't you help me? Why didn't you take me in? Why did you have to do this? Waaah—"

Everyone who was preparing to enter the base had a look of utter disbelief on their faces.

Such words are very unpleasant to hear; they are ambiguous and more likely to be misunderstood.

People around started pointing and whispering again, while the little kid watched happily, shaking his leg, thoroughly enjoying himself.

Even Sun Cheng, who found her with her, looked incredulous. Was this person out of her mind? He couldn't understand what she was saying.

"Take her things down." Cheng Shaolin was too lazy to waste words with someone like her. He was very busy right now. Yu Yanbin was the team leader and had a lot of things to do, so he would handle this kind of small matter.

Shao Jie went up and carried down the two large bags that were placed very securely.

Seeing that her tactic wasn't working, Sun Ping quickly grabbed her bag. "Don't touch my things! Don't touch my things!" Her previous pitiful act vanished, and she charged at Shao Jie with bared teeth and claws.

However, Shao Jie quickly retrieved the item.

Seeing the bag being thrown out, Sun Ping's face turned vicious.

Sun Ping, her face dark with anger, gasped for breath, "How could you throw my things away? What right do you have to throw my things away?"

"Damn it, we fed you the best food and drinks the whole way, without spending a single drop of your food or water. All the food and drink were ours, and now you're turning around and blaming us. We promised to take you to the base, but now it's our fault. Looks like we can't be good guys anymore." Shao Jie said with a grin, but towards the end, it almost turned into gritting his teeth.

At this point, the people around them began to understand; it turned out they were being extorted.

Seeing that there was no more excitement to be seen, the people around gradually left.

Seeing that things had already turned out this way, Sun Ping decided to give up and looked at Sun Cheng, who was from the same place as her, and said to Qi Xun, "Then how come they can go in with you, but I can't?"

Those who had walked halfway through saw that there was more to come, so they all stopped to see what was happening next.

Shao Jie didn't even want to talk to her, and said disdainfully, "They deserve what they have. They've been in the team for so long, sweating and working hard, so we're willing to give them what they have." Seeing that Sun Ping was about to interject again, he didn't even need to guess what she wanted to say.

"You don't even need to say anything. You've been in the team for so long, and you've never taken out anything you found. You've hidden it yourself. We haven't even held it against you. Don't you have any self-awareness?"

Sun Ping retorted, "Why should I take it out? What I found myself is mine."

Shao Jie chuckled, a little annoyed. "Yeah, what you found is yours, so it's only right that we give it to you to eat. How dare you be so shameless?"

Those around were speechless. What kind of people were these? In a team, if you only want to take advantage and don't want to contribute, how can you do that? It's a miracle they didn't lose everyone along the way.

Everyone shook their heads and left. It's best to stay away from this kind of person. Once you get involved, you can't get rid of them. Just like what we're seeing now, this group of people is impossible to shake off.
