Having found a permanent place to live and with no safety concerns to worry about, Li Xiao took out a few bottles of wine to celebrate.
"cheers."
Everyone raised their glasses.
"cheers!"
"cheers!"
"cheers!"
The wine glasses clinked together, making a crisp sound.
Everyone was happily eating, seemingly forgetting the hardships to come.
Life is tough every day, so let's enjoy ourselves for a while while we can.
Live in the moment.
This is how everyone feels right now.
The men drank together, while the women watched them eat with smiles. Today was a rare day of relaxation; they'd talk about it after tonight.
There were still tasks to complete after the meal. Instead of drinking, we naturally finished eating and started stocking up on supplies.
The woman was organizing everyday items, such as dried vegetables and clothes. The man was steaming buns, and once they were done, he called Li Xiao to pack them up.
I was busy until 10 p.m., and finally stopped when I had stocked up on enough food for a week.
Everyone, go wash up and go to bed. We'll be going out tomorrow to scout out the situation inside the base.
Shao Jie chatted with some people at the information desk, but that wasn't enough. They would be staying here for quite some time, so it would be best to get to the bottom of things.
When you arrive in a new place, everyone wants to explore. Li Xiao and her group were no exception.
I thought I could finally sleep in without worrying, but that wasn't the case; I still woke up at the usual time.
Lying in bed, Li Xiao couldn't help but chuckle. Li Xiao slept alone because she was always tidying up her things in her space, and she never knew she might be startled if she suddenly opened her eyes one night and saw someone.
In the end, Tian Tian had no choice but to sleep at Qiu Fengyu's place. Looking at Tian Tian's mournful eyes, Li Xiao could only offer her apologies.
There was no other way; having finally gotten a chance to be alone, Li Xiao had no choice but to give up Tian Tian.
This way, she can enter the space, not just her consciousness.
I haven't been able to fully immerse myself in my own space in a long time. It's really inconvenient with people always around.
Li Xiao was overjoyed to be able to have a room to herself for so long.
I tossed and turned in bed for several minutes, unable to fall asleep. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to get up.
After getting dressed and stepping outside, I saw two people already sitting on the sofa chairs.
Even though it was still dark and there was no light, Li Xiao could still tell who it was.
"What's wrong? Why are you all up so early?"
Li Xiao thought she was the only one who couldn't sleep, but she was wrong.
The beautiful Qiu sat back in the wooden sofa chair, arms crossed, eyes closed, seemingly resting. Beside her, another person was slumped in the sofa chair, resting their head on the armrest. This must be Tian Tian.
Li Xiao walked over and kicked Tian Tian's slumped foot, "If you want to sleep, go to sleep. What are you doing lying here?"
A muffled voice came from the darkness: "I can't sleep, I feel sleepy as soon as I get up."
"Heh—" Li Xiao chuckled.
"Miss Qiu, are you having trouble sleeping too?"
"Yes, I'll wake up when it's time."
Li Xiao found a chair and sat down, looking out the window at the pitch black outside. It would be a while before the sun came out, but since there was no sun now, it might be even later.
The base has a centralized power supply, but there is no power in the morning. Power is only available at night, from 7 pm to 9 pm.
"Now that there's no sunlight, I wonder if the base's time will change." A cold voice rang out.
"I don't know, I think it will be changed, at worst they'll just add more points." Li Xiao believes that the system should change as things change.
Qiu Fengyu agreed and nodded.
The group talked in the darkness, and Li Xiao wouldn't take out any lighting equipment from her spatial storage. The other two wouldn't agree either.
Tian Tian sat up and stretched. "Let's do something, they're coming over for dinner later."
Li Xiaozheng felt the same way and readily got up and went to the kitchen.
With something to do, none of the three felt sleepy anymore. They perked up and were ready to get to work.
I was busy cooking porridge, heating up steamed buns, and stir-frying pickled vegetables when I heard someone knocking on the door.
Tian Tian wiped her hands and ran to open the door. As soon as she opened it, she saw Shao Jie standing outside, looking very energetic.
"Oh, everyone's up. I've already made breakfast." Shao Jie came in and started looking around. "You didn't believe me when I said I heard something."
"How was I supposed to know they'd get up so early?" Xiao Peng said sullenly from behind.
Then Yu Yanbin, Cheng Shaolin, Meng Yang, and Zheng Yongnian filed in.
Everything is complete.
Li Xiao found it hilarious.
"It'll be ready soon, just wait a moment."
"Xiaoxiao, let me do it." Xiao Peng prepared to go into the kitchen.
Li Xiao stopped him, "No need, it'll be ready soon. Brother Peng, just wait to eat."
Yu Yanbin also pulled him back, "Alright, just wait a minute. You're not tired of cooking every day, are you? You think taking a break will kill you?"
Xiao Peng, teased, scratched the back of his head and sat down, chuckling twice before falling silent.
I doubt many people these days can afford to eat rice porridge as they please, or have unlimited steamed buns and dumplings. Only this group of people have large bowls of rice each, and are also holding big, fluffy white steamed buns in their hands.
They are lucky, everyone thinks so.
They cherish it.
"Are we all going out later?" Shao Jie looked at the captain, waiting for him to arrange the day's affairs.
Yu Yanbin slowly took a bite of his steamed bun and said without looking up, "You can go if you want, or not if you don't. It's up to you."
"So, who of you will go?" Shao Jie turned to ask the people around him.
"I'll go out and take a look," Xiao Peng replied.
“Uncle Meng and I will both go out,” Zheng Yongnian said, raising his hand.
"Who's going?" Shao Jie asked the woman.
