She rushed into the bottled water store and slammed the door shut behind her. There were no zombies inside, and bottles of bottled water were laid out on the floor.
She quickly put them away. The small room behind was filled with empty buckets, which were exactly what she needed, so she put them all into her storage space.
There are already 30 or 40 of these, plus dozens more filled with water. That's enough to hold a lot of water. Let's go look for more; the more water the better. It's a non-renewable resource, and just thinking about life without water is terrifying.
Let's take a break and then go check things out ahead.
This street is a small street that turned into from the main street.
Unlike the bustling main street, there aren't many people. But there are still plenty of good things to do, including a lot of snack shops.
Unfortunately, the apocalypse occurred at night, which meant many people were out having late-night snacks, and there were still quite a few people on the streets.
I thought no one would come out because of the rain, but surprisingly there were still quite a few people.
This area mainly consists of general stores and two snack shops, but not as many as the street across the street.
That street was full of food and drinks; it was a night market street.
Just imagine how chaotic it must have been before. Let's settle things here for now, and then see if we can go any further. There are too many zombies, so forget about it; survival is the priority.
He tightened his grip on the knife. There was a general store up ahead; he should check it out.
She ran quickly across the street and slipped into the store.
She noticed the zombies weren't swarming towards her like before. Was something attracting them?
She stuck her head out to look outside again, but there was still no movement.
She was puzzled and couldn't figure it out. Oh well, whatever, let's gather supplies first. Since she wasn't going to worry about her, she didn't need to close the door. After all, closing the door was quite loud.
And so, she opened the door and walked into the small supermarket.
Believe it or not, although it's small, it has a lot of stuff.
The shelves on both sides are stocked with drinks, instant noodles, biscuits, hot and sour noodles, sanitary napkins, shower gel, shampoo, liquor, and beer; the middle shelf has sunflower seeds, preserved plums, spicy strips, and egg rolls; and below that are toilet paper, milk, oil, eight-treasure porridge... The selection isn't huge, but it's very comprehensive.
She happily began collecting the cigarettes, also taking some from the counter. These wouldn't be produced anymore; she could keep them for her uncle since she didn't need them herself.
Li Xiao happily put away her cigarettes and went to the back. There was a small room in the back, filled with many boxes. They looked like they were piles of goods.
She put it away without even looking at it. There's a toilet and a kitchen inside; you don't need to look at the toilet, but you can check out the kitchen.
There were some seasonings, half a bag of rice, two packs of noodles, a few eggs, three potatoes, and some dried goods in the cupboard.
After putting everything away, she left the kitchen. There wasn't much left in the house; she'd taken everything she could, so it was still a pretty good haul. ^O^/
There was a small restaurant right next door, so I went straight in. There was still uneaten food on the tables, now rotten and smelly, and lots of mosquitoes were buzzing around. Some chairs were overturned on the floor, as if someone had left in a hurry, in a panic.
You can imagine the scene at that time; everyone must have been terrified.
She didn't need to look at the front; she went straight to the back kitchen. It was empty; everyone must have run out. The kitchen was a mess, and on the cutting board, there were some unidentifiable things emitting a foul odor.
She put away all the seasonings and went to the room next door, which must be the storeroom, where rice, oil, and other supplies were piled up.
There were more than ten bags of rice, each weighing 50 jin (25 catties), and more than ten boxes of oil, as well as many boxes of soy sauce, vinegar, and other condiments.
She ran out the door after rummaging through the entire room; it stank terribly.
I happened to run into a few people at the entrance.
It was getting late. The group consisted of three men: a tall man in his thirties, quite robust, with a square face and a serious expression; a thinner man in his forties, about 175cm tall, who seemed surprised to see her rush out; and a short, thin man who looked very shrewd.
The three men were quite surprised to see her; they really hadn't expected to encounter a woman here. Her age was impossible to discern; she was completely covered in rotting flesh and bits of flesh, some of which had slipped off her raincoat.
The three people opposite them were also filthy, indicating they had been fighting for quite some time, and their faces were covered in sweat.
The incident happened so suddenly that both parties stood frozen in front of the small restaurant.
Today is the fourth day of the apocalypse, and more and more people are coming out to find food, drink, and supplies. It's normal to encounter other people.
I was just a little surprised that I almost bumped into it.
"Hey, you're here to find something to eat too? Why didn't you bring anything?" The skinny guy spoke first, looking rather sneaky.
"There was no food inside, so I came out." Li Xiao didn't mention that she had taken anything. There was nothing inside, and her hands were empty; something didn't seem right. So she simply said she had nothing.
The skinny guy's eyes lit up when he heard Li Xiao speak. Her voice was soft and gentle; he knew without even looking that she was a beauty.
Li Xiao is about 170cm tall, and her figure is not visible when she wears a raincoat.
Li Xiao looked at the skinny guy with a mixture of speechlessness and disgust. Thinking about such nonsense at a time like this was just asking for trouble.
"Hey beautiful, wanna come together?" Now, even the way they address each other has changed.
Upon hearing what the skinny guy said, the other two turned to look at him.
"Zhang Wei!" the tall man called out in a low voice.
The skinny guy named Zhang Wei was stunned for a moment when he heard this, but then he understood.
"Hey, beautiful, how about we split the stuff? Where do you live? We'll deliver it to you." Zhang Wei seemed oblivious to the awkwardness, scratching his head and turning back to Li Xiao with a smile.
If you hadn't noticed the calculating glint in his eyes, you would have really thought he was a good person.
"No need, I won't cause you any trouble." She remained unmoved and turned to leave. If she didn't leave soon, the zombies would surround her.
They've mostly cleared this area, but there are still quite a few left in front of the street. They'll come rushing over as soon as they smell the stench.
Zhang Wei wanted to say something, but the tall man pulled him back. He was staring at Zhang Wei with wide eyes.
“Hey, Brother Cheng, look…” Zhang Wei gave Li Xiao a meaningful look.
Following Zhang Wei's gaze, the man called Brother Cheng looked at Li Xiao's hand and saw that she was holding a knife. Her hand was hanging down, and the raincoat sleeve covered half of it, so only the dirty half of the blade and the tip were visible...
Both Brother Cheng and the middle-aged man were taken aback, their eyes lighting up. This knife looks pretty good.
"Hey, beautiful lady..." Before they could finish speaking, they saw Li Xiao turn around. Although her raincoat covered her face, her indifferent eyes revealed a cold light.
They could only stop talking and watch as Li Xiao turned her head and ran back the way she came.
Seeing that they didn't make a move, Li Xiao ran straight to the main street, ignoring those who wanted to take advantage of her.
"She's pretty fast." Zhang Wei's gloomy eyes watched Li Xiao's running figure. He watched as she raised her hand to chop at the zombie's head, revealing the entire blade.
The blade also reflected a faint, cold light.
It's a fine knife!
