Chapter 78 Return

When Cheng Shaolin heard Li Xiao say that, he meant there was still some left. He decided to drink less himself and leave some for Xiaoxiao so she could drink it for a longer period of time.

As Cheng Shaolin sipped his chilled lemon black tea, he pondered deeply.

Holding the steaming cup, he suddenly seemed to realize something.

"Xiaoxiao, why is this still cold? And yesterday's food looks like it just came out of the pot?"

Why did this suddenly come to mind? I wasn't surprised yesterday, but it suddenly dawned on me today.

Li Xiao said naturally, "Yes, whatever you put in, that's what will happen in the back." After saying that, she looked at Cheng Shaolin innocently.

Cheng Shaolin didn't understand these things either, and thought that's how the space was, so he nodded to show that he understood.

When he later found out what other people's online spaces looked like, his expression changed completely.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Li Xiao looked at the zombies wandering the road and calmly asked Cheng Shaolin a question.

"Brother, do you know how to shoot a gun?"

Hearing Li Xiao suddenly ask this, Cheng Shaolin turned to look at her. "Why are you suddenly asking this?"

"Can you?" Li Xiao looked at the zombies outside the window, and at the trees and flowers rushing by. The lush greenery reminded her of the mountains she had seen before.

Having so many weapons and not using them seemed like a waste. But she didn't know how to use them, so she thought she'd ask Cheng Shaolin if he knew how and could teach her.

It really doesn't seem right to just leave it there without taking it out. Maybe I can try to trust it.

Since we've said so much, why would we care about such a small thing?

Besides, we can always play dumb. We don't need to say much; we can always just grab some ordinary handguns.

I did the math in my head and thought it was feasible.

"Yes, someone in my family is in the military. I've been there before and practiced this. Why?" Cheng Shaolin didn't understand why Li Xiao was asking this at this time.

"Do you want a gun? I'll get you a couple when we get back, how about that?" He thought the girl just wanted to play with it, and that he could get one when they got to Beijing, it wouldn't be difficult.

Li Xiao hadn't expected Cheng Shaolin to be able to get his hands on it; that would only be possible back in Beijing. Then she thought about it again. Although his family was in politics, it seemed like he had relatives in the military, so getting his hands on it was certainly possible.

When Cheng Shaolin saw what Li Xiao was holding, his eyes widened instantly, and he slammed on the brakes.

With a screeching "screech," the car came to an abrupt stop.

I can’t be mistaken, this is the active-duty handgun – the Type 92 handgun.

Cheng Shaolin looked at Li Xiao in surprise, "Where did you come from?" She didn't want Li Xiao to be in danger.

"Received."

"I know you received it. Where did you receive it? Did someone point this at you?" Thinking of this, Cheng Shaolin's face was full of anger.

He had previously told Yu Yanbin that it would be even better if they could find a few guns while passing through the city.

He just hadn't expected that Li Xiao would have already taken it out. If it came to danger, he still didn't want Li Xiao to be involved.

"No." Li Xiao looked at Cheng Shaolin's anxious face and said with a light laugh.

"It was received just recently."

Cheng Shaolin was surprised. Wasn't this in that town not long ago? He hadn't seen it anywhere. Could it be the police station?

It was funny to see Cheng Shaolin looking so puzzled.

"Found it in the mountains." Li Xiao turned around, her eyes filled with worry.

"In the mountains?" Upon hearing this, Cheng Shaolin turned his head, wondering if there were troops stationed here. "Oh, troops? Have they encountered any danger?"

"Danger? What danger?" Li Xiao said casually, "No, nothing's wrong."

"Oh, that's good." Seeing that Cheng Shaolin had relaxed and was playing with the pistol, she didn't ask any more questions.

I thought that since it was the military, I wouldn't be thinking about any more crazy things.

"This kind is the most common. Could you teach me?" Li Xiao tilted her head and looked at Cheng Shaolin.

Cheng Shaolin, of course, agreed without hesitation. It was best for Xiaoxiao to have this; it was perfect for self-defense.

I was thinking of getting her one, but she got hers herself. Oh well, I'll just teach her how to drive a gun.

"Okay, I'll teach you how to open the gun during the break later."

Li Xiao nodded, no rush.

Cheng Shaolin looked it over; it was intact and there were no problems. He then placed it in Li Xiao's hands, telling her to be careful and not to pull the safety pin.

Li Xiao said she understood, and Cheng Shaolin then started the car again and drove forward.

They arrived on the highway at noon, and Cheng Shaolin turned left back to where he had parked earlier.

It's hot, let's go to that town to rest.

When they arrived at the spot where they had parked earlier, the mud house that Xiao Peng had built to provide shade was gone. Cheng Shaolin had no choice but to find a house by the roadside, clear out the surrounding zombies, and drive inside.

It was already 1 p.m., and the two of them were exhausted, hungry, and disheveled.

Li Xiao didn't want to clean the dust in the house anymore, so she took out the wooden table and chairs she had collected and put some dishes and iced drinks on them.

He quickly poured two glasses, handed one to Cheng Shaolin, and took a sip himself.

Wow, iced drinks are so refreshing and thirst-quenching!

Spicy squid, braised pork ribs, Mapo tofu, hot and sour shredded potatoes, stir-fried green beans, cucumber salad, and two bottles of iced tea.

Looking at the plentiful lunch on the table, Cheng Shaolin couldn't help but sigh. It's so much better to have food with Xiaoxiao; this is what eating should be like. Before, in the team, it was just something to barely fill our stomachs.

Cheng Shaolin didn't say anything today, picked up his chopsticks, sat down and started eating.

Every dish tasted just like it was fresh out of the pot. He didn't say anything, he just ate and that was it. Why worry about anything else when there's food to eat?
