Chapter 41 Weicheng
Tian Xin almost flew out of the car, luckily she was wearing a seat belt.
At this time, the car had already driven onto the main road. Gao Cheng's car was parked so tightly that he almost rear-ended the car, and the horns behind him honked one after another.
Tian Xin reacted and quickly asked him to drive the car away and park it in a safe place.
"What's wrong with you?" Tian Xin looked at Gao Cheng, her brows twisted into a knot.
"What does the letter say?" Gao Cheng asked.
Tian Xin ignored him and called Zhang Shuai.
"Zhang Shuai, when we get to Weicheng, find a place to park. Then you come over and drive this car."
After several people met in Weicheng, Tian Xin asked Zhang Shuai to drive Gao Cheng's car and the two of them sat in the back.
Tian Xin and Gao Cheng read Gao Wen's letter.
"Gao Cheng, I don't know if you can see this letter. I've been thinking about it for several days and I still want to give myself an explanation. Whether you can see it or not, I want to write it to you.
Tian Xin once told me to be braver, but I could never be like her.
I have known you for almost a year. We have spent a lot of wonderful times in this year, and I have kept every frame in my heart.
You gave me this heart-shaped origami when we went to the museum. I thought you would say something, but you just jokingly said it was to pay me back for my dinner. I thought about it and decided to give it back.
I have to go back, and we may not have the chance to meet again in the future. No matter what, I will keep this memory in my heart. Thank you for bringing me so many happy moments.
——Gao Wen.
In this letter, Gao Wen concealed herself to the utmost, yet it was also filled with tenderness. It seemed as if she said nothing, yet she completely exposed herself.
Gao Cheng read the letter in silence the whole time. He didn't say another word until the car arrived at the entrance of Gao Wen's hometown village. He just kept looking out the window.
"We're here, boss!" Zhang Shuai stopped the car and went out to smoke a cigarette.
Gao Cheng didn't get out of the car, nor did he change his posture. He just sat there quietly.
Tian Xin took out her cell phone and dialed a number. After two beeps, the call was connected: "Hello, is this Gao Wen's?"
"Yes, who are you?" A woman's voice came from the other side, sounding like Gao Wen's mother.
"I'm Gao Wen's classmate. My name is Tian Xin. Is Gao Wen home?"
"Oh, Tian Xin, is that the Tian Xin who became a village official?"
The voice over there was full of excitement.
"Yes, yes, it's me. Auntie, is Gao Wen here? I came to Weicheng today to do some business. I passed by here and stopped by to see her. I couldn't get through to her on her cell phone."
"Oh, her phone is off. She just went out and will be back soon. If you live nearby, come over and visit her!"
"Is it convenient? Auntie, I'm at the entrance of the village!"
"It's convenient, come on, auntie wants to see you too!" Tian Xin felt relieved after receiving the invitation from Gao Wen's mother.
She'd been thinking all the way about what to do when she saw Gao Wen. What to say? If Gao Wen really decided to get married, how would her relationship with Gao Cheng end? If Gao Cheng lost control of his emotions and did something bad, how would she explain it?
Now she was almost relieved. From the tone of her voice, Gao Wen's mother was not a difficult person to get along with.
Let’s go and check out the situation first!
"Gao Cheng, I'm going to Gao Wen's house. Do you want to come with me? Gao Wen is not at home right now."
Gao Cheng didn't say a word the whole way, and Tian Xin couldn't figure out what he was thinking.
"Let's go together. We're already here anyway."
"Then you should calm down a bit, don't get too excited, and leave a good impression on your family." Tian Xin reminded him again and again, worried.
"Don't worry, I know the severity of the situation."
Gao Cheng got out of the car and took out many gift boxes from the trunk, which were probably prepared last night.
"You are quite polite!" Tian Xin teased. Gao Cheng did not respond, looking very worried.
Several people walked in the direction Gao Wen's mother said.
Gao Wen's village is located east of Weicheng, a beautiful little mountain village with flat terrain. They mainly rely on apple cultivation to support their family.
Enter the village from the entrance, turn left twice along the main road and enter an alley. The last house you walk to is Gao Wen's house.
When they arrived, Gao Wen's mother was already waiting at the door.
Rural people are simple and unpretentious, and have always valued guests, especially those who come from far away.
Gao Wen's mother waved to Tian Xin from a distance.
As Tian Xin got closer, she saw that Gao Wen's mother was overweight, with short hair curled into small curls. Her features were rough, her face was covered in freckles, and she spoke in a loud voice. Gao Wen looked nothing like her.
"It's Tian Xin, right? I'm Gao Wen's mother. Come on, come in and sit down."
As soon as Gao Wen's mother saw Tian Xin, she took her hand and greeted her warmly.
"Hello, Auntie. I'm Tian Xin, Gao Wen's classmate. This is my brother. This is Gao Cheng, whom Gao Wen also knows."
Tian Xin introduced the two of them to Gao Wen's mother. When she mentioned that Zhang Shuai was his brother, Zhang Shuai's eyes lit up.
Several people were welcomed into the living room by Gao Wen's mother.
Gao Wen's house is a very typical self-built house in the countryside. It is not big, but clean and bright. The exterior walls are covered with tiles, and it looks much more imposing than Tian Xin's house.
Inside, the living room is furnished with a large color TV and a complete home theater system, along with sofas and coffee tables.
This situation was a little inconsistent with what Gao Wen said about her family being very poor. Tian Xin silently said in her heart: Gao Wen, you are a liar.
Gao Cheng piled everything he had on the coffee table, filling it completely. Tian Xin took a look: high-end cigarettes, alcohol, snacks, fruits, milk, tea, and even a ceramic tea set were all there. She secretly praised him: This guy is quite polite.
"Auntie, this is your first time here. I don't know what you like. Please don't despise this little gift of yours." Gao Cheng said nervously while rubbing his hands.
"This young man's name is..."
"Gao Cheng and Gao Wen also know each other. We are good friends." Tian Xin explained.
"Oh, Gao Cheng." Gao Wen's mother looked Gao Cheng up and down, and a smile gradually appeared on her face.
Gao Cheng's face turned red as he was stared at, and he kept rubbing his hands.
"Come on, young man, sit down. Don't be polite, don't be restrained!" Gao Wen's mother pulled Gao Cheng to the sofa, and several people sat down and started chatting.
"Young man, what do you do for a living?" Gao Wen's mother looked at Gao Cheng and asked with a smile.
"My family runs a specialty store business. We have opened several stores in the ancient city, and I am the one running them." Gao Cheng rubbed his hands nervously.
"Oh, so what do your parents do?" Gao Wen's mother asked again.
"Oh, my parents are retired now, and they have been traveling and vacationing for the past two years."
"Who else is home?"
Tian Xin sat on the side and became a background board, watching Gao Wen's mother and Gao Cheng's extreme tug of war the whole time, which made her nervous.
"I'm the only one in my family. My grandparents live in the south and we don't live with them."
"Oh, come here, young man, drink some water." Gao Wen's mother handed a glass of water to Gao Cheng, and looked Gao Cheng up and down with a smile.
At this time, a voice came from outside, as if someone had just returned.
"Mom, is anyone home?"
