Chapter 4: Get Rich

Lin Zhiyue rummaged through the drawers in the room and finally found the 5,000 yuan that she was going to give to her father as compensation.

Her hands groped in the corner of the old wardrobe and pulled out a small dusty iron box.

I opened the iron box and found the money that my parents had saved before. I counted it carefully and it was a total of 2,280 yuan.

In this era of material scarcity, this amount of money was undoubtedly a huge sum.

Before this, Lin Zhiyue was the only child in the family, and the daily expenses were not high, so every penny was saved by his parents.

In addition to cash, Lin Zhiyue also found stacks of tickets.

She sorted them out one by one. There were 8 industrial tickets, which were precious certificates for purchasing industrial supplies;

Two bicycle tickets, which could be used to buy bicycles, which were rare items at that time;

There are also more than 30 national food coupons, which can be used to exchange for food in various parts of the country;

More than 10 meat coupons. With meat coupons, you can buy a few pounds of meat during festivals to improve your life.

7 cotton tickets, which can be used to buy some cotton to make new cotton clothes;

In addition, there are more than 20 tickets that are about to expire, and I don’t know if they can still be used.

The original owner is 13 years old this year. It is now August and she will be promoted to the second year of high school next month. In the county school, her grades have always been among the best.

Lin Zhiyue knew clearly that she would have to continue her studies. As for whether to find a job first or concentrate on preparing for the college entrance examination after finishing her studies, she still needed to think about it.

However, she knew that the country would resume the college entrance examination in 1977. This news was undoubtedly a great opportunity for her who loved studying.

After all, the original owner had been spoiled since she was a child, and it was never her turn to do farm work. Now that she was using the original owner's identity, no one would suspect her if she didn't do farm work. If she was short of food in the future, she could just buy it from the team.

Lin Zhiyue looked around the room and her eyes fell on her parents' cabinet.

With great effort, she placed her hands on the bottom of the cabinet and moved it away little by little, revealing the floor underneath.

She squatted down, groped along the edge of the floor, found an inconspicuous mechanism, pushed hard, and the floor actually moved slowly toward the wall, and an opening that was only wide enough for one person to pass through appeared in front of her.

The Lin family’s “treasure chest” is hidden here. Only the Lin family knows this secret, which was carefully preserved by Grandpa Lin in his early years.

Lin Zhiyue had integrated the original owner's memories, so naturally he knew this secret place well.

She turned to the yard, brought in the old ladder, and carefully lowered it along the edge of the opening.

Then she picked up the candle in the room, lit it with a flint, and the faint candlelight flickered in the darkness.

Lin Zhiyue took a deep breath, held the ladder tightly with both hands, and climbed down slowly step by step.

By candlelight, she saw fifteen large boxes neatly arranged below, each box was half the height of an adult.

Lin Zhiyue's heart began to pound. She walked impatiently to the first box and opened it with trembling hands.

In an instant, a dazzling light shot out, almost blinding her eyes.

"Oh my God!" Lin Zhiyue couldn't help but exclaimed. The box was full of jewels. The rubies were gorgeous, the pink diamonds emitted a soft light, the emeralds were crystal clear, and there were all kinds of necklaces, rings, and bracelets made of diamonds, which sparkled charmingly under the candlelight.

She opened the next few boxes one after another, and the scene before her became more shocking.

The three boxes were filled with precious scrolls and rare books. Tang Bohu's paintings were delicate and the characters were lifelike.

Wu Daozi's paintings are magnificent and full of the style of a master;

Li Gonglin's line drawings are smooth and profound;

Xu Beihong's paintings of galloping horses seem to jump out of the paper;

Zhang Daqian’s landscape paintings are ethereal;

Qi Baishi's paintings of flowers, birds, fish and insects are full of life interest;

What is even more shocking is that there are authentic calligraphy works by Wang Xizhi here.

Among them, the most dazzling one is the "Lo River Goddess Picture", whose delicate brushstrokes and rich colors depict the goddess of Luo River in Cao Zhi's painting as if in a dream;

“Autumn Mountain Rich Residence” shows the tranquility and richness of the autumn mountains and forests;

The horses in “Eight Horses” are of various shapes and sizes, and seem to be galloping across the grassland;

There are also precious ancient books, calligraphy and paintings such as "Compendium of Materia Medica", "Huangdi Waijing", "Yongle Encyclopedia", "Preface to the Lanting Collection" and Tang Bohu's "Riding a Donkey Homeward Thinking". In later generations, any one of these is priceless and cannot be bought without hundreds of billions.

The next three boxes were filled with jade.

Imperial green jade is rich and bright, as noble as emerald;

Purple jade is mysterious and elegant, exuding a unique charm;

Green jade is fresh and natural, yellow jade is warm and soft, and the various kinds of jade are so dazzling that your eyes will almost be dazzled.

There is also a box full of rings and bracelets made of jade of various colors. They are exquisitely crafted and each piece can be called a work of art.

What made Lin Zhiyue's heart beat faster were the last five boxes.

She slowly opened one of the boxes, and inside were huge pieces of gold, each as big as a man's palm.

Lin Zhiyue was so excited that she almost jumped up. She was thinking in her mind that after the reform and opening up, she would use the gold to buy houses in prosperous areas all over the world, and then rely on the rent to live a comfortable life of eating and drinking.

Lin Zhiyue stood in the secret place full of treasures, his eyes full of excitement and surprise.

She looked around at the boxes of priceless treasures and felt an indescribable sense of satisfaction in her heart.
