Chapter 50: Illness Comes Like a Mountain

Chapter 50: Illness Comes Like a Mountain

The sun was setting and they really had to go back.

In fact, Zhang Wei and the others were about to go back a long time ago. When everyone knew that Zhou Chi was left here by his father, Aunt Kate almost called the police, but Zhang Wei persuaded her to stop.

So everyone spontaneously wanted to stay with him longer, even Paris didn't say anything, he just played a few games of chess with Zhou Chi full of fighting spirit.

In fact, Zhou Chi only knows how to play Chinese chess, and his chess level is about the same as Paris's.

The sun was about to set when Zhang Wei heard a voice in Chinese shouting:

"Baby! Didn't I tell you to wait for me at the fountain?!"

Zhang Wei looked over and saw a middle-aged man with sweat all over his forehead, wiping his glasses with his hands and carrying a large briefcase, running towards them quickly.

Zhou Chi finally had a look of joy in his eyes, but he still felt a little uncomfortable and kept complaining:

"You said to call me by my name! And you said you made me wait so long! By the time I waited, you would have been kidnapped by someone!"

Father Zhou saw his son still sitting there playing chess, and seeing that there were adults here, he kept bowing and thanking them in English:

"Thank you! Thank you!"

Aunt Kate said seriously, "Are you his father? What you're doing is illegal. How can you let a minor go outdoors? I think I'd better call the police and teach you a lesson!"

Mr. Zhou just kept saying "sorry, sorry"

Zhang Wei could see that Mr. Zhou’s spoken English was as poor as Zhou Chi’s. He didn’t know how he managed to get things done here. Although he looked a little embarrassed, he was still dressed in a suit.

She was also afraid that Aunt Kate would really call the police, so she quickly said, "Uncle, please take Zhou Chi back quickly. He has been waiting for you all day. We also want to go home."

"Okay, thank you, little girl. Zhou Chi, go thank your new friend quickly. We need to go back!"

As Mr. Zhou spoke, he rummaged through his briefcase, but it seemed like he didn't find anything. He could only say to Zhang Wei:

"Little girls, please leave your contact information. I'll treat you to a meal next time."

Zhang Wei relayed his intentions to Aunt Kate, who coldly rejected him. She also said, "If I encounter something like this again next time, I will definitely call the police."

Father Zhou quickly waved his hands and said, "No, no!"

Before leaving, Zhou Chi even shouted, "See you at school!"

"What did he say?" Dora asked.

Zhang Wei felt that it was unlikely that Zhou Chi would be able to go to Tifield with them, so she said, "He said we'd meet again if there was a chance."

"He's quite interesting." Dora said with a smile.

Paris expressed her complete disapproval: "It's loud and rude!"

Now Zhang Wei has completely understood Dora's personality. She likes this kind of friendly children, like Grace and Nick in the class. She is just an accident.

Maybe she is smart and sensitive, so she likes friends who are dull, because it is more comfortable to get along with them.

However, Zhang Wei would never argue with children, so Dora also felt a sense of tolerance from her.

Paris is a child who cares about his own private space, just like Zhou Chi who suddenly appeared today, which made him couldn't help but feel a little concerned.

Zhang Wei felt that this was not a good idea. She hoped that Paris could relax a little. Zhou Chi had a good personality, and she felt that Paris needed playmates of the same age.

If Zhou Chi can really enter Tifield, it might have a good impact on Paris.

This weekend incident was just a small episode in Zhang Wei's life, which soon disappeared with the wind. It was many years later when he met his cheerful compatriot, Xiaopang Zhou Chi, again.

After returning home that day, Zhang Wei fell ill for the first time in his life!

She was fine in Chenjia Village before, even though the conditions were so bad. However, she got sick because of being blown by the wind by the lake, and had a fever for a week. As a result, her memory of Central Park was limited to the fever, and her memory of Xiaopang was a little vague.

During this period, Aunt Kate brought Paris to visit her, and she felt a little guilty for not taking good care of Zhang Wei.

She hadn't been to school for a week, and her family doctor was at home the whole time, fearing that her condition would suddenly worsen and she would need to be sent to the hospital.

The Wilsons also tried their best to arrange their work and go home early every day to see her.

Zhang Wei just felt very sleepy, both during the day and at night. Namier thought she was seriously ill, so he went to see her every day and talked to her, which made her wonder if she was unlucky and had contracted a serious illness.

Finally, her fever subsided and did not recur at night. The next day, she was able to get up and eat. It can be said that it came and went quickly.

She felt much lighter and thinner this time, and her illness was gone like a thread.

She was not fat to begin with, and now she has lost some weight, making her look even more fragile.

Then the Wilsons took her for a full physical examination. Zhang Wei felt uneasy before the results came out.

She remembered reading somewhere that a persistent high fever was caused by a blood disease. If that was the case, then what she had drawn wasn't a resurrection card, but an experience card...

So before the physical examination report came out, Zhang Wei was a little depressed. Even Catherine looked at her with some concern, as if she really had some serious illness.

"Vera, we're never going to the lake again."

Dora was a little annoyed because she saw wild ducks and wanted to be closer to them, so she suggested setting up a tent by the lake.

"No, Dora, it's not the lake, it's my own poor health."

She didn't want Dora to have psychological trauma at such a young age, so she comforted her:

"We went to the Great Salt Lake before Yellowstone Park. It wasn't like that. There were no problems either. It was just a coincidence. Don't take it seriously."

Dora reluctantly agreed with her, but she was a little sensitive to begin with, and Zhang Wei's illness still affected her. Until she graduated from elementary school, Dora never went to the lake with Zhang Wei again.

The person who was actually most affected by this incident was Namir. The day before Zhang Wei fell ill, Manny had already left for the UK to meet up with Leida. He was going to an interview at a middle school.

Although he didn't play with Manny often, it was the first time that his brother, who grew up together, left him. On the second day, Zhang Wei, the only playmate left at home, was lying on the bed unconscious (actually, he fell asleep due to the effect of the drugs).

These two reasons made Namir feel extremely lonely. He was afraid that Zhang Wei would never be able to open his eyes again one day, just like the little rabbit he had raised before.

Zhang Wei could even sense his intention to sneak into her room in the middle of the night to test her, and he was afraid that his life would pass by before his eyes.

When Zhang Wei was able to sit at the dining table normally and looked at Namir across from him, his chubby little face looked much thinner and growth could be seen in his eyes.

He helped Zhang Wei pour milk, arranged fruits for her, and watched her finish her meal, like a truly considerate brother.
