Chapter 114 Post-Wedding Side Story: Old Things (Part 3)

A tall figure loomed over him, blocking the light from above, and some of the writing in the diary was hidden in shadow.

Jiang Wan suddenly raised her head.

She was so surprised when she saw the man in front of her that she couldn't speak for a moment.

Zhou Chong knelt down, cupped her face in his hands, and gently wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes with his fingertips. "Why are you hiding at home and crying all by yourself?"

Jiang Wan bit her lip and asked in a choked voice, "Why did you suddenly come back? Didn't you say you wouldn't be back until the day after tomorrow?"

Zhou Chong: "I finished my work in New Zealand ahead of schedule. The others wanted to stay there for a couple more days, so I changed my flight and came back by myself first."

"Then why didn't you tell me?" Jiang Wan asked again.

Direct flights from New Zealand to China take more than ten hours, so if Zhou Chong wants to change his flight, he definitely needs to do so at least one day in advance.

But when Jiang Wan chatted with him on WeChat yesterday, he didn't mention this matter at all.

"I wanted to surprise you, but I was worried about unexpected delays, so I didn't tell you in advance."

Zhou Chong chuckled and tucked a stray hair behind Jiang Wan's ear. "I didn't expect to find you secretly crying when I got home. Was it because I was away on a business trip for too long?"

Jiang Wan sniffed and shook her head. "No, I found these things."

As she spoke, she lowered her head and held up the diary she was holding. "Are these all the diaries you wrote back then?"

Zhou Chong lowered his eyes, his gaze falling on the open page. After pausing for two seconds, he nodded. "Hmm."

"Will you be upset that I read your diary without permission?" Jiang Wan asked cautiously, raising her eyes. "I didn't know it was your diary at first. After flipping through a few pages, I realized that it was all about things you recorded after you went back in time."

"Of course not." Zhou Chong chuckled and shook his head. "You can see everything I have. I have no secrets from you now."

After receiving his affirmative answer, Jiang Wan lowered her eyes and continued reading the next line of text.

Zhou Chong sat down next to her, leaning against the cabinet door, his arm loosely around her shoulder, and they flipped through his diary together.

When he first started writing, he never imagined that Jiang Wan would see this diary in this way.

After returning to the present, he first found the diary in his study, and later found the pair of phone charms in Jiang Wan's dressing table drawer.

And that indefinite redemption card, which was kept in a very good condition, was found in her jewelry box.

Jiang Wan usually owns a lot of jewelry, but she often can't remember where she puts some of it.

Sometimes when she got home from get off work, she would take off her jewelry and put it on the dressing table. Zhou Chong would see it and help her tidy it up so that if she wanted to wear it again someday, he could find it for her in time and accurately.

It was at this moment that he discovered the two old items in her dressing table drawer and jewelry box.

Although he didn't know why they were scattered in different places, he thought it would be better to gather these old objects from the past together.

At least, all these things are still there; everything he and Jiang Wan experienced in the past was not a memory that appeared out of thin air.

He originally only intended to preserve all the evidence of his memories, but he never expected that Jiang Wan would find them while he was away on a business trip.

After Jiang Wan finished reading the diary, she closed the hard cover and put it back into the tin box.

Then she raised her hands and hugged Zhou Chong's neck, her voice choked with emotion, "Fortunately, you remembered every single day without missing a single one. These things are not just remembered by us; they truly existed in this world."

“Mmm.” Zhou Chong hugged her and patted her back gently. “I was worried at the time that it was all just a dream I had imagined, so I stubbornly wanted to write everything down.”

"And the little rabbit phone charm, it's still here after all this time." Jiang Wan suddenly remembered something funny. "You know, my mom saw our phone charms and thought you and I were dating."

Zhou Chong thought for a moment, "Around the time before the Lunar New Year?"

"Yeah, it was on the day of the parent-teacher conference. We had dinner together, and when I got home, my mom asked me if we were dating, and she kept telling me to focus on my studies first."

Jiang Wan chuckled as she spoke, "That's why she asked me to invite you to her house for study the next day. She's afraid we'll sneak out on a date, and she feels more at ease with you under her watchful eye."

Zhou Chong thought for a moment, then chuckled helplessly, "Mom's thinking is quite open-minded."

"I was really embarrassed to tell her at the time. I was already 28 years old. What kind of puppy love was this? Besides..."

Jiang Wan paused, tilted her head up, and kissed Zhou Chong on the lips. "Even if it's puppy love, it's with my future husband, the good son-in-law that both she and my dad have chosen."

Zhou Chong lowered his head, patted Jiang Wan's head, then tightened his grip on the back of her head. "With such a sweet tongue, you'd just give me a kiss and run away?"

"Hmm?" Jiang Wan raised an eyebrow, pursed her lips, and made sure not to touch Zhou Chong's lips.

A thin gap separated the two, their breaths passing through it, and the air gradually became ambiguous.

Mixed with the scent of Jiang Wan's shower gel after her shower, Zhou Chong finally gave in and kissed her lips, which were so close to his.

It's sweet and soft.

After not seeing each other for half a month, the moment our lips touched, it felt like a fire was ignited, the heat spreading rapidly.

The hands clasped behind her head tightened, but she restrained herself from using too much force, simply pressing her tightly into her arms, her strong arms holding her captive, not letting Jiang Wan escape even a fraction of an inch.

Jiang Wan responded passionately to Zhou Chong's kiss, her breathing becoming more and more rapid until she gradually lost her strength and collapsed into his arms, her hands still loosely wrapped around his neck.

Zhou Chong gave him a deep kiss, then knelt down and scooped him up from the ground. "Shall we go back to the room?"

Jiang Wan blushed slightly, pursed her lips, and nodded, "Mm."

Zhou Chong's long legs moved quickly, and he walked down the stairs in a few steps. He arrived at the door of the master bedroom and kicked open the half-closed door.

Jiang Wan was laid down on the bed, and Zhou Chong thoughtfully stuffed a pillow behind her back.

She propped herself up, put her arms around Zhou Chong's neck, and asked breathlessly, "You just got back, you've been on a plane for more than ten hours, are you tired?"

"I'm not tired." Zhou Chong kissed her eyelids, then stretched out his arm and pulled open the bedside table drawer.

Just as he was about to take out the small square, Jiang Wan suddenly grabbed his arm.

Zhou Chong turned to look at her.

Jiang Wan bit her lip, raised her eyes, and said in a soft voice, "Last weekend, I went home, and my grandma and my parents all asked about it, saying that we've been married for over three years, and when..."

She swallowed hard. "...Want a child?"

Zhou Chong's eyes darkened, and he released his grip, the small square falling back into the drawer.

"Now?"

"……Um."

The night is long and enchanting.
