Chapter 115 Post-Wedding Extra: Garden Party (Part 1)
In the golden autumn of October, Sun Qianyu and Jiang Shengming's wedding was held as scheduled.
As a married woman, Jiang Wan couldn't be Sun Qianyu's bridesmaid, so she and Zhou Chong went directly to the afternoon lawn ceremony and banquet.
Sun Qianyu felt regretful for a long time, saying that she felt empty inside because Jiang Wan was not by her side when she got married after so many years of being best friends.
Jiang Wan felt a surge of emotion and was about to comfort her when she heard her add:
"I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. When you got married, I was busy with all the preparations and did a lot of work. Now that it's my turn, you're having an easy time."
Jiang Wan pouted, taking back the sweet words she was about to say, "Who told you to get married so late? Being a bridesmaid requires scheduling, you know?"
“No, getting married at twenty-eight is not considered late. Isn’t this the perfect age?” Sun Qianyu glanced at her teasingly. “Who can get married earlier than you? You had just graduated and returned to work not long ago when you rushed to get your marriage certificate with Zhou Chong.”
"Anyone who didn't know better would think you two had been dating since high school."
Jiang Wan lowered her eyes silently; she couldn't respond to those words.
Now that things have come to this, it seems like it wouldn't be wrong to say that she and Zhou Chong have been dating since high school.
-
Saturday afternoon.
A manor near Lincheng.
When Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong arrived, quite a few guests had already entered the venue.
As you walk along the road leading out of the parking lot exit, you'll see a sign every so often.
The painting depicts two hand-drawn chibi-style figures, one in a wedding dress and the other in a suit, arm in arm, slightly bowing and pointing towards the path leading to the main ceremony venue.
The art style is adorable; it's clearly Sun Qianyu's idea.
Jiang Wan smiled gently, turned to Zhou Chong and said, "This little figure is so cute. Jiang Shengming looks so simple and honest."
Zhou Chong playfully pinched her nose. "He's the most handsome groom today."
"More handsome than you?" Jiang Wan sniffed. "I don't believe it. Could anyone be more handsome than my husband?"
Zhou Chong chuckled, "Let's give him face today and let him have the most handsome spot first."
"You're too kind," Jiang Wan chuckled, glancing at him sideways before taking Zhou Chong's hand and continuing to walk forward.
Before entering the large lawn, at the last signpost, hand-drawn figures of Sun Qianyu and Jiang Shengming embraced each other, turning to look at the newcomers with beaming smiles. The Q-version Sun Qianyu held her bouquet high, pointing to the wooden archway to the side.
Above the natural wood-colored archway is a row of large, handwritten characters:
"Welcome to our wedding garden party."
Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong walked hand in hand through the archway to the registration area.
The wall was covered with a guest list, divided into small squares. Each square had the name of a guest printed on it, and next to the name was a small rose.
A wall of roses of different colors and varieties was created for the wedding reception, allowing each guest to take home a rose of their own.
Jiang Wan stood in front of the sign-in wall, looking up to search for her and Zhou Chong's names.
Many of the roses in the small squares have been removed, and in their place are strokes of oil-based pen writing.
She first saw Zhang Chi's signature, and then, following that area downwards, she also saw Li Yang's signature.
Jiang Wan clicked her tongue lightly, "Why is their handwriting still as ugly as it was back in school?"
Zhou Chong leaned closer and glanced at the two signatures, one above the other. "They're not exactly the same. The signatures I wrote back in school were neater."
Jiang Wan couldn't help but laugh out loud, and gently patted Zhou Chong's shoulder, "You're just telling the truth."
Zhou Chong raised an eyebrow, neither confirming nor denying.
Jiang Wan's gaze continued downwards, "Tell me, should our names each have their own section, or should they be combined into one section, so we can attend the wedding as a family unit?"
Zhou Chong thought for a moment, "It's probably combined. Our names are written together on the wedding invitation, and we weren't sent two separate invitations."
"You're right," Jiang Wan hissed softly. "Then aren't we missing a little rose?"
As soon as he finished speaking, a familiar, warm male voice rang out, tinged with amusement.
"How could I give you one less rose?"
Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong turned around and saw that it was the groom of today's wedding.
Jiang Shengming walked over and pointed to two spots on the sign-in wall. "You are all our high school classmates, and you are attending the wedding as old classmates, so of course each of you will have your own sign-in spot."
Jiang Wan looked in the direction Jiang Shengming was pointing and immediately saw her name and Zhou Chong's name side by side, one on the left and one on the right.
Her square had a light pink peach-colored snow mountain, while Zhou Chong's square next door had a light brown cappuccino.
She took the rose, picked up a black ballpoint pen, quickly signed her name, and then handed the pen to Zhou Chong.
Zhou Chong also signed his name and took another rose.
The two turned around and looked at the spirited groom in front of them.
Jiang Shengming was wearing a crisp three-piece black suit, tailored to fit his tall frame. His hair was styled carefully, making him look more dignified and handsome than usual.
"Jiang Shengming, are you greeting guests here all by yourself?" Jiang Wan asked. "Where's Sun Qianyu?"
Jiang Shengming: "She was in the dressing room. It was an outdoor wedding, and she was too tired from walking around in high heels, so it was better to let her rest in the dressing room."
Jiang Wan raised an eyebrow and gave a thumbs-up in approval, "What a good husband."
Jiang Shengming chuckled and glanced at Zhou Chong, "He taught me a lot of things. Zhou Chong is the model husband."
Jiang Wan was slightly taken aback, recalling that at her wedding with Zhou Chong, she had stayed in the lounge before the ceremony began, with her bridesmaid Sun Qianyu accompanying her, while Zhou Chong was left outside to greet the guests.
At the time, she only thought it was because the two of them were not familiar with each other and it would be awkward to face the guests together, so she acquiesced to Zhou Chong's actions.
Looking back now, it must have been out of consideration for her.
Thinking of this, Jiang Wan turned around, looked at Zhou Chong, and then at Jiang Shengming, "Yes, you're right."
Zhou Chong chuckled and lowered his head, gently patting Jiang Shengming's shoulder. "Don't flatter me."
"That's the truth."
Just as Jiang Shengming finished speaking, he heard someone call his name from behind.
He turned around, glanced at the newly arrived guests, and waved to Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong, "Then I'll go first. There are some games further in. You can go and play them before the ceremony starts. Zhang Chi and the others are there."
Jiang Wan: "Okay, sure."
Zhou Chong: "You go ahead and get busy."
After Jiang Shengming left, Jiang Wan turned around and held up the peach-pink Snow Mountain rose in her hand to Zhou Chong's hand, saying, "The colors of our two roses match quite well."
Zhou Chong lowered his eyes, his gaze lingering on her for a moment before plucking the peach-red snow mountain and tucking it into Jiang Wan's hair.
For the wedding, Jiang Wan wore a simple little dress today, made of pearl-colored satin, which shimmered with a light pink pearlescent light in the sunlight.
Her long, flowing hair was styled into a low bun at the back of her head, without any extra decorations, exuding an intellectual and elegant charm.
After pinning on this light pink rose, the outfit became more charming, and her small, fair face was accentuated by the soft pink color.
"It looks good this way." Zhou Chong withdrew his hand.
Jiang Wan raised her hand and gently touched the flower petals on her hair, then lowered her head, plucked the cappuccino from Zhou Chong's hand, and put it into his suit breast pocket.
"It looks good this way too."
Zhou Chong lowered his eyes, looked at the small flower in his suit breast pocket, smiled gently, and took Jiang Wan's hand. "Let's go, let's go inside first."
