Chapter 8 Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong, a particularly good match

Chapter 8 Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong, a particularly good match

The first period was physics class taught by our homeroom teacher, Mr. Fan.

Before the class officially started, Lao Fan walked to the podium with his thermos cup and announced some news.

"As is customary, after this monthly exam, we will change the seating arrangement. As before, we will make minor adjustments based on everyone's monthly exam scores. Unless there are special circumstances, we will leave it as is."

As he spoke, Lao Fan unscrewed the lid of his thermos, took a sip of tea, and said, "Before evening self-study begins, let's change seats. Okay, class is starting now. Take out the test papers that were just handed out."

Jiang Wan lowered her head to flip through the monthly exam papers on the table. When she looked up, she glanced at the row behind her out of the corner of her eye.

Anyway, Lao Fan will still forcibly separate her and Sun Qianyu and change their seats due to so-called special circumstances.

Although Sun Qianyu had a stroke of luck back then, she could only leave it to fate to decide who she would be assigned to sit next to. So she might as well take control of the situation early on.

-

At noon, Jiang Wan and Sun Qianyu ate lunch in the cafeteria.

As soon as the two finished getting their food and sat down, Jiang Wan mysteriously beckoned to Sun Qianyu with her finger.

Sun Qianyu turned to the side and, not understanding why, leaned her ear closer.

"After we finish eating, shall we go to Lao Fan and ask to change seats?"

"Why?" Sun Qianyu frowned in confusion. "My grades didn't fluctuate much this month, so I should still be your deskmate."

Jiang Wan glanced around, cupped her hands to her mouth, and whispered in a voice loud enough for Jiang Wan to hear, "Don't you want to sit at the same table as Jiang Shengming?"

Sun Qianyu's eyes widened in surprise, and her ears instantly burned.

She quickly covered her mouth, turned to look at Jiang Wan with surprise and shyness, and stammered, "You...you noticed everything?"

Jiang Wan raised an eyebrow and snorted.

Sun Qianyu was completely impressed.

She had only just begun to develop feelings for Jiang Shengming, and before she could even share her girlish thoughts with Jiang Wan, Jiang Wan saw right through her.

She truly is my best friend; she understands me so well.

Although Sun Qianyu was delighted by Jiang Wan's thoughtfulness, she was not the kind of person who would abandon her sister.

She asked with a worried look, "Then what are you going to do?"

"I?"

Jiang Wan raised her head and scanned the bustling cafeteria, easily spotting the tall figure in the queue at the window.

Amidst a group of boys playfully bickering in the line, Zhou Chong stood quietly, tall and imposing, with a cool and aloof demeanor.

It's hard not to attract attention.

Sun Qianyu turned her head and looked ahead in the direction of her gaze.

Upon recognizing the person, she gasped, nearly crying out in shock, "Zhou... Zhou..."

Jiang Wan quickly raised her index finger to shush her.

Sun Qianyu turned around and lowered her voice, "No, you want to be Zhou Chong's deskmate?"

"Hmm, what's wrong?" Jiang Wan nodded matter-of-factly. "You're going to be deskmates with Jiang Shengming, so you have to give up your deskmate position to me, right?"

Sun Qianyu opened her mouth, but for a moment she didn't know how to refute it.

“No, you don’t have to sacrifice yourself for me, do you?” Sun Qianyu bit the tip of her chopsticks. “If that’s the case, then we won’t go talk to Lao Fan. Let’s keep things as they are and continue sitting together.”

Jiang Wan looked at her expression of reluctant reluctance and burst out laughing.

"No, I really want to be Zhou Chong's deskmate. Don't think of your love as something too noble."

“I…” Sun Qianyu choked for a moment, “That’s not what I meant. I just don’t understand. You were talking about being the eternal second place this morning. I thought you were really annoyed, but then you turned around and wanted to be Zhou Chong’s deskmate.”

"So what?" Jiang Wan shrugged indifferently. "Old Fan said that the seating arrangement would be adjusted according to the monthly exam scores, which means he wants us to improve together with our deskmates."

"No one is more suitable for me than Zhou Chong."

Sun Qianyu opened her mouth again, only to be defeated once more by Jiang Wan's logic.

"What you said...makes a lot of sense."

Jiang Wan smiled and said, "Just say that in front of Lao Fan later. Remember, don't give yourself away."

"Okay." Sun Qianyu nodded, then realized something was wrong. "Wait, did I give myself away?"

Jiang Wan smiled without saying a word, and continued eating with her head down.

"Hey—" Sun Qianyu tapped the plate in front of her with her chopsticks, "Jiang Wan, explain yourself clearly, what exactly happened!"

"Oh, alright, alright." Jiang Wan didn't intend to hide it from Sun Qianyu. "You're allowed to have feelings for Jiang Shengming, but I'm not allowed to have feelings for Zhou Chong?"

Sun Qianyu was stunned for a moment and gasped.

"Really?" Sun Qianyu subconsciously tugged at her ear. "Did I leave my ear in the classroom?"

Jiang Wan winked at her slyly.

Sun Qianyu pinched her earlobe and stared blankly for a few seconds, as if finally confirming that her ear hadn't fallen into the classroom.

“I never thought our beloved little princess would one day step into the mortal world.” Sun Qianyu narrowed her eyes and clicked her tongue twice. “Oh, no, Zhou Chong is also a celestial being. You two are just dealing with each other internally.”

"What internal digestion? It's not even close to being done yet."

“Wanwan.” Sun Qianyu suddenly stopped joking. “To be honest, if you hadn’t always ignored Zhou Chong before, I would have thought you hated him. Otherwise, I would have told you a long time ago.”

Jiang Wan was taken aback. "What did you say?"

“You and Zhou Chong look like a perfect match.”

Sun Qianyu looked very serious when she said this, and Jiang Wan's heart skipped a beat.

In her past life, when she and Zhou Chong were husband and wife and attended social events together, many people said similar things.

"Mr. Zhou and Mrs. Zhou are such a perfect match."

"What a perfect couple!"

"Only President Zhou is worthy of a woman as beautiful as Miss Jiang."

Jiang Wan didn't take it to heart at the time. After all, among adults, compliments and politeness are social etiquette, and you can just listen to them and let it go.

But now, Sun Qianyu, who is still a high school student, blushes when talking about the boy she likes, yet she said this to him very seriously.

Then what she said must be true.

Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong are a perfect match.
