Chapter 116 Post-Wedding Extra: Garden Party (Part Two)
On the way from the check-in area to the ceremony area, you pass through a game area.
Several different game booths were set up on the lawn, including ring toss, darts, pitch-pot, marbles, and more.
There was even a small mahjong table with a collage-style design.
Four people were already seated around the mahjong table, having played several rounds, and were shouting that they were ready to win, while a number of onlookers stood around.
Jiang Wan glanced at them from afar and saw that they were all people she and Zhou Chong didn't know, so she didn't go that way and continued walking in the other direction.
"Li Yang, your accuracy is terrible. You can't even get one of the ten rings on the hook?"
Hearing a loud male voice, Jiang Wan looked in the direction of the voice and indeed saw Zhang Chi and Li Yang, whom Jiang Shengming had mentioned earlier.
Ten years have passed, and the young lads of yesteryear have grown into mature adults, their demeanor having changed considerably.
Although Jiang Wan had seen them at class reunions two years prior before traveling back in time, the most vivid image in her mind now was still the two of them in their school uniforms.
Upon suddenly seeing the two men in suits, Jiang Wan was stunned for a long while before walking over with Zhou Chong.
"Zhang Chi, Li Yang."
"Hey, you guys are here." Zhang Chi turned around and looked at Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong. "Want to play a game of ring toss for a bit?"
Jiang Wan smiled and nodded, "Okay, let's give it a try after your round is over."
"Hey, I'm not saying this to be mean, but Li Yang is really bad at this." Zhang Chi turned around and glanced at Li Yang, who was holding a ring toss game next to him. "He's thrown ten rings and hasn't gotten a single one."
Zhang Chi, with his hands in his pockets, leaned forward and peered out. "Not to mention the biggest and furthest ones, can't you even catch these little things that are closer?"
Li Yang stopped what he was doing, held out the ring in his hand to Zhang Chi, and asked, "Why don't you try?"
"You play first, and I'll play after you've finished playing." Zhang Chi waved his hand and pointed forward, "Hey, try to ring that one. That crystal ball ornament is small and close by, so it's easy to ring it."
Li Yang glanced at him suspiciously, then turned around and tried to throw a ring at the crystal ball not far away.
The grass on the lawn was so lush that the cloth under the ring toss prize was stretched to a height, and the ring bounced twice in the opposite direction as soon as it fell to the ground.
It didn't fit.
Zhang Chi immediately spoke up, "Look at you, you can't even catch one that's so easy to trap."
"You don't understand. These plastic rings are too light. They'll bounce off if you drop them on the ground, and they won't stay on." Li Yang gave him a disgruntled look. "Don't believe me? Try it."
As he spoke, he handed the remaining dozen or so rings to Zhang Chi.
"You're still making excuses." Zhang Chi took the rings, picked one up and shook it in his hand. "I'll give it a try, you watch closely."
After saying that, he confidently threw the ring out.
Just as Li Yang had predicted, the plastic ring bounced off the ground and rolled away.
He didn't manage to snag a trap either.
"See? What did I tell you?" Li Yang crossed his arms, looking on with amusement.
Zhang Chi pursed his lips. "Don't rush, I'll try a few more times."
Next, he threw ten rings in a row, but like Li Yang, he didn't manage to snag any.
"Hey, I'm telling you, stop fixating on that crystal ball and try something else," Li Yang suggested.
Zhang Chi acted as if he hadn't heard, saying, "I'll just wear that one."
Jiang Wan stood to the side, watching Zhang Chi stubbornly try to ring the crystal ball again and again. Several times he almost succeeded, but because the surface of the crystal ball was smooth, the ring would slip off as soon as it touched the top of the ball.
"Is it that difficult?" Jiang Wan poked Zhou Chong's arm and asked curiously, "The two of them have tried more than twenty times combined, and they still haven't won."
Zhou Chong: "Then why don't you try it in a bit?"
Jiang Wan thought for a moment, then shook her head. "I don't want to try it. You can try it later."
"What's wrong? Don't want to play?" Zhou Chong asked, raising an eyebrow.
“No…” Jiang Wan hesitated and shook her head, biting her lip and not continuing.
Actually, she's terrible at games; she's not very talented at any of them, and she's afraid of embarrassing herself in front of her old classmates.
Zhou Chong noticed something amiss in her conflicted expression, smiled, and didn't ask any further questions. He simply said, "Then I'll try it out in a bit, and you can see which one you want to try."
"Okay." Jiang Wan raised her eyes, nodded, and turned to look at the ring toss prizes spread on the ground.
As soon as she turned her gaze, she saw the rings land around the crystal ball, sway up and down, and gradually settle on the ground.
"Wow--"
"I got it!"
"You actually hit the nail on the head!"
Zhang Chi finally landed his last ring on the crystal ball, the one he had tried to ring more than ten times.
He sighed, shook his wrist, walked over, took the crystal ball from the staff member, turned back and raised an eyebrow at Li Yang, "How is it?"
"Well, you're the best." Li Yang gave him a thumbs up to show his respect.
The staff member picked up the rings that had fallen to the ground. "Anyone else want to play?"
"Yes, yes, yes, over here!"
Jiang Wan quickly ran over, took the ring from the staff member, and then, holding up the hem of her little dress with one hand, ran back to Zhou Chong in her high heels.
Seeing her stumbling through the grass, Zhou Chong quickly stepped forward and steadied her shoulders and arms. "Be careful, why are you running?"
Jiang Wan raised her eyes and looked at Zhou Chong's slightly furrowed brows. For no reason, she remembered the time when she ran into the classroom with an English newspaper in her hand.
Zhou Chong also rushed over to support him, his face full of worry.
At the time, she didn't know that Zhou Chong would become her future husband, but now, looking back, she feels a warmth in her heart.
She smiled and handed him the ring toss game, saying, "Here you go, help me get the prize."
"Okay." Zhou Chong took the ring toss, stood in front of the marked start and end line, his eyes half-closed as he looked at the dazzling array of prizes before him. "Which one do you want?"
Jiang Wan stood next to Zhou Chong, her hands behind her back, craning her neck to look ahead, "That, the white plush rabbit doll."
Zhou Chong glanced ahead and said, "Okay."
Having said that, he picked up the ring and prepared to throw it forward.
Zhang Chi quickly reminded him, "That's quite far. Based on my previous experience, the plastic ring is too light. You have to use a lot of force to throw it, otherwise it won't go that far."
“Yes, yes, but you can’t throw it too hard, or you’ll easily overshoot it. The harder you throw it, the more likely the ring will bounce off the ground,” Li Yang chimed in.
The two were still chattering away, acting as theoretical strategists, when Zhou Chong turned his head and threw the ring toss.
A graceful parabola traced through the air before landing steadily on the little rabbit doll.
"hiss--"
"Huh?"
Zhang Chi and Li Yang were stunned on the spot.
Jiang Wan excitedly turned around and threw herself into Zhou Chong's arms, "Wow, my husband is so amazing."
Zhou Chong chuckled and put his arm around her, patting her lower back. "Which one do you want?"
"Um, um..."
