Chapter 30 Only Loves Drinking Water

Chapter 30 Only Loves Drinking Water

Qi Ming, as expected of a sports specialist, quickly adjusted his mindset after losing several balls and snatched several balls from Zhou Chong.

Before the bell rang, Class 13 had already caught up in the score.

The physical education teacher, who was temporarily acting as referee, glanced at the time and was about to blow the whistle to announce the end of the game and dismiss the get out of class.

The score was tied, a happy ending for both sides.

The PE teacher had such a good sense of time; he had just put the whistle to his lips and hadn't even blown it yet when the bell rang out from the school building.

It's like looking through a thin veil, distant yet clear.

The PE teacher thought it was perfect; it saved him the trouble of blowing the whistle, and the students would automatically disperse when they heard the bell ring.

However, the people on the field seemed not to hear it.

Qi Ming spread his arms, bent his knees slightly, and stood firmly in front of Zhou Chong in a half-squatting position, determined not to back down.

Zhou Chong controlled the ball and made a feint to the left and right, but Qi Ming blocked both of them with a sliding step, preventing him from breaking through.

The two faced each other in this confrontation.

Qi Ming frowned, his eyes fixed on Zhou Chong, a bead of sweat sliding down his forehead and into his collar.

Compared to his tight defense, Zhou Chong was much calmer, not even frowning, his sharp gaze passing over him and looking at the backboard behind him.

The tense atmosphere between the two clearly affected the onlookers.

No one dispersed, no one returned to their class; everyone held their breath, intently watching the two people in the center of the field.

Only the school bell rang merrily on its own.

Jiang Wan wondered how much time had passed, but it probably hadn't been long, since the ringtone only lasted a few seconds.

Zhou Chong, who was in sight, slightly bent his knees, leaped up, and with both hands high over Qi Ming, he casually flipped his wrists and flicked his fingertips to throw the basketball out of his palm.

A beautiful and precise parabola traced a path, and the basketball landed steadily in the hoop.

He didn't even bump into the rim or circle around the edge; instead, he went straight through the net, as if everything was within Zhou Chong's calculations.

As the sound of the basketball hitting the ground rang out, the cheerful school bell came to an abrupt end.

Yet it doesn't feel abrupt; the victory song ends here, which is the best finale.

The PE teacher seemed to only just realize what was happening, and hurriedly blew his whistle, "Whoa—"

"Three points, three points, get out of class dismissed, get out of class dismissed!"

A thunderous cheer erupted from the crowd.

Zhang Chi and Li Yang almost lifted Zhou Chong up, but under his cold gaze, Jiang Shengming forcibly called them aside to retrieve the ball.

Ignoring the shouts of those around her, Jiang Wan gripped the bottle of mineral water in her hand and rushed forward in one stride.

She knew he would win; she had been waiting for this moment for a long time.

"Zhou Chong—"

Hearing the familiar voice, Zhou Chong turned around and saw Jiang Wan in her school uniform running towards him.

Sunlight shone on her, and the stray hairs that were blown across her forehead by the wind were tinged with a golden light.

Jiang Wan almost couldn't stop herself. Just before she was about to pounce on Zhou Chong, she managed to stop herself, swaying slightly before raising the mineral water bottle in her hand. "Thirsty? Have some water."

A chorus of cheers erupted from all around.

"The goddess is actually bringing water to the academic genius!"

"You said it yourself, they are both gods, what does it have to do with us mortals?"

"Well, Zhou Chong won, so he's definitely the MVP."

"It was just a little bit short, otherwise Qi Ming wouldn't have lost, right?"

"If I win, will I get to drink the water the goddess gives me?"

"I don't know, but I guess so."

"This benefit wasn't mentioned before the match; wasn't it a friendly game?"

...

Zhou Chong glanced around at the people around him, his eyes lingering on Qi Ming for a moment before he took the bottled water from Jiang Wan.

I unscrewed the cap, tilted my head back, and took a big gulp.

Jiang Wan looked at him with a smile, "You're amazing."

Zhou Chong accidentally choked on the water. After taking the water bottle away, he wiped the water stains from the corner of his mouth with the back of his hand and said, "Thank you."

"What are you thanking me for?" Jiang Wan blinked. "I'm just telling the truth."

Zhou Chong screwed the bottle cap on, his eyes lowered somewhat awkwardly. "Thank you for bringing me water."

"You're welcome," Jiang Wan smiled at him, tilting her head. "We're deskmates, who else would bring you water if I didn't?"

Zhang Chi, who had just finished packing up the equipment, stopped in his tracks when he heard Jiang Wan's words. "Jiang Wan, is there any water for the person sitting in front of me?"

"No, I only bought a bottle of water." Jiang Wan raised her hand and pointed behind her. "Sun Qianyu has a whole bag of them. Go ask her for them."

Amidst the commotion, Sun Qianyu ran over carrying a bag of drinks.

"Jiang Shengming, what would you like to drink?" She opened her pocket, revealing a pile of colorful beverage bottles.

Zhang Chi immediately let go of the stroller handle and poked his head over, "Let me see."

"What are you looking at?" Sun Qianyu tied the bag shut, turned around and opened it in front of Jiang Shengming, "Let Jiang Shengming choose first."

"Why should I?" Zhang Chi followed over with a sly grin, reaching out to rummage through the plastic bag.

Jiang Shengming: "Because I play better than you."

Sun Qianyu: "Because he's more handsome than you."

The two finished speaking at the same time, exchanged a glance, and then lowered their heads with a light laugh.

“I’ll drink this.” Jiang Shengming took out a bottle of lime-flavored Gatorade and handed the bag to Zhang Chi. “Here, you guys take it.”

Zhang Chi picked up the bag, shared the drinks with the others, and then called Li Yang to go with him to return the equipment.

Qi Ming stood on the other side of the court, surrounded by his classmates from Class 13, his gaze fixed on Jiang Wan through the crowd.

Jiang Wan turned her back to him and said something to Zhou Chong beside her. The two of them then turned around and walked off the court.

For some reason, he instinctively wanted to follow, but was blocked by his classmates.

"Qi Ming, you did a great job just now."

"Here's a bottle of water for you, drink it quickly."

"I still have Red Bull here."

...

The figure in his sight walked further and further away, so he had no choice but to look away and casually take the bottle of water handed to him. "Thank you."

-

Zhou Chong and Jiang Shengming left their school uniform jackets on the bench outside the sports field. Before returning to their classroom, the two came to pick them up, and Jiang Wan and Sun Qianyu walked with them along the way.

As soon as Jiang Wan stepped out of the crowd, she saw Chen Yuewei standing by the bench.

She was holding a bottle of orange Gatorade and smiling slightly at Zhou Chong. Her gaze inadvertently met Jiang Wan's, and her smile faltered for a moment, but quickly returned to normal.

Zhou Chong walked over as if no one else was there, picked up his school uniform jacket, and was about to leave.

Before he could turn around, Chen Yuewei blocked his way.

"Zhou Chong, you must be tired from playing ball just now. Here, take this." Chen Yuewei held up the bottle of Gatorade with both hands and handed it to Zhou Chong, a faint blush rising on her cheeks.

Sun Qianyu crossed her arms and secretly rolled her eyes at Jiang Wan.

Jiang Wan's face remained expressionless.

Anyone can deliver water; she can, and so can Chen Yuewei.

Zhou Chong glanced at the beverage bottle indifferently, then raised the mineral water he was holding. "No, thank you, I have this."

After saying that, he turned and walked around Chen Yuewei towards Jiang Wan.

Let's go.

"Um."

Jiang Wan nodded, suppressing a smile, and turned to walk towards the teaching building with Zhou Chong.

Sure enough, she was right; Zhou Chong didn't like sports drinks and only liked drinking water.
