Chapter 5 Who said I hate him?

Chapter 5 Who said I hate him?

For 28-year-old Jiang Wan, the most difficult thing about her first experience of senior year of high school was her sleep schedule.

She was woken up by both her alarm clock and Ms. Shan Tong in the morning. If it weren't for the terrifying fact that she had been reborn in high school, she would never have been so energetic.

If one could still manage to stay alert by reading aloud during morning reading time, then by the time of class, that energy, which was kept alive by fear, was almost completely depleted.

Normally, at this time, she would have just walked into the office with her coffee, but now, she's already teaching her second class.

I'm so sleepy, I really want a cup of coffee.

Freshly ground flat white is best.

Jiang Wan rested her head on her hand, following the rhythm of the teacher's lecture on the podium, little by little.

Finally, the long break between classes arrived, and the senior high school students no longer had to go down for morning exercises, so Jiang Wan finally found a chance to catch up on her sleep.

She was so sleepy that she slumped onto the table and closed her eyes.

I had only closed my eyes for a few seconds when I heard the sound of knuckles tapping on the table.

Gently, knock, knock.

She thought it was the teacher and hurriedly opened her eyes, only to see Zhou Chong.

He stood tall and straight in front of her, tapping her desk with his finger, his expression indifferent, his eyelashes lowered as he looked at her.

For a fleeting moment, she thought she had fallen asleep in those few seconds and was still asleep.

So she rubbed her face and then her eyes, before groggily looking up at Zhou Chong standing beside her. "...Zhou Chong, you were looking for me?"

Zhou Chong nodded slightly, and his words instantly chased away Jiang Wan's drowsiness.

"Collect homework."

Operation?

What homework?

Jiang Wan's mind was a complete mess. In a panic, she grabbed the schoolbag hanging on the back of the chair and dumped out the exercise books and test papers inside.

Please, she just transmigrated this morning, how would she know anything about homework?

Seeing her rummaging through a pile of homework, Zhou Chong kindly reminded her, "It's the physics workbook I assigned before evening self-study yesterday."

Physics workbook?

Jiang Wan's headless behavior suddenly found direction.

She took out her physics workbook, held it in her hands, but hesitated to hand it to Zhou Chong.

I wonder which pages of homework were assigned yesterday. Could she have forgotten to do them?

At this moment, Sun Qianyu, who was beside him, had already handed the workbook to Zhou Chong.

Zhou Chong took Sun Qianyu's homework and reached out to take Jiang Wan's, but Jiang Wan refused to let go.

He frowned slightly. "Give it to me."

"No..." Jiang Wan subconsciously wanted to refuse, but after realizing what she meant, she quickly made up an excuse, "No, I just wanted to... turn to the page with the homework and give it to you, so it would be easier for you to organize it."

Zhou Chong seemed somewhat surprised by her words. After pausing for two seconds, his brow relaxed. "It's alright, give it to me."

"I... well, just tell me..." Jiang Wan stammered, still unwilling to let go.

Sun Qianyu, who was standing next to them, couldn't stand it anymore. She snatched the exercise book that was between the two of them, flipped to a certain page, and handed it back to Zhou Chong.

As she withdrew her hand, she glanced at Jiang Wan, "What are you dawdling about?"

Jiang Wan ignored her gaze and hurriedly glanced at the page of the exercise book in Zhou Chong's hand.

Phew, thank goodness, every blank is filled.

It seems that I was quite reliable at seventeen.

Zhou Chong folded up the two students' workbooks and continued walking to collect the other students' homework.

As Jiang Wan watched his figure slowly walk away, she inexplicably remembered a time when Zhou Chong had to work overtime at the company on a weekend.

It was a bright morning like that. She was still lying in bed sleeping in, while Zhou Chong was already dressed and ready to go out.

Zhou Chong got up very quietly, but she was still woken up. She opened her eyes groggily and saw him walking towards the bedroom door with his back to her.

Perhaps because she was still asleep, the curtains were not fully drawn, leaving only a thin gap. The sunlight that shone through fell on the man's tall back, making it very dazzling.

Just like him now.

As she watched, for some reason, Jiang Wan's eyes started to sting.

It happened not long ago, but it feels like half a lifetime has passed.

She looked away and was about to lie back down on the table to continue sleeping when she caught a glimpse of Sun Qianyu's malicious smile.

"What's wrong?"

"What do you think happened?" Sun Qianyu squinted and leaned close to her ear, "You were pulling and tugging at each other while handing in your homework. Anyone who didn't know better would have thought you were deliberately trying to talk to Zhou Chong more."

"Uh..." Jiang Wan awkwardly tugged at the corner of her mouth, "You're overthinking it."

"Really? I'm overthinking it?" Sun Qianyu poked her arm and gestured forward with her lips. "Then why were you staring at Zhou Chong's back like that?"

"I……"

Jiang Wan opened her mouth, not knowing how to explain to her, so she simply pulled her up from her seat and said, "Let's go to the convenience store."

Anyway, with Sun Qianyu's gossipy nature, there's no way she'll get any sleep.

As Jiang Wan pushed her out, Sun Qianyu still couldn't help but glance back at Zhou Chong. "Hey, I said, didn't you used to hate him so much? You never wanted to talk to him much."

Jiang Wan paused, "Who said I hate him?"

Sun Qianyu hissed, raised her index finger, and pointed it repeatedly at Jiang Wan's face, "Something's wrong with you."

"Where?" Jiang Wan pouted and grabbed Sun Qianyu's fingers that were dangling up and down. "I don't dislike him at all. He's handsome and has good grades. Who would dislike someone like that? Do you dislike him?"

“I…” Sun Qianyu was stunned by Jiang Wan’s question.

"You don't dislike him, do you?" Jiang Wan tilted her head mischievously. "It would be abnormal for anyone not to like someone like Zhou Chong, right?"

Sun Qianyu was completely defeated by her logic. "What you said seems to make a lot of sense."

Jiang Wan shook her hand and pulled her towards the stairs with a grin.

No one noticed that Zhou Chong, holding a thick stack of exercise books, was standing outside the classroom door behind the two of them.

The girl in his sight had already disappeared at the top of the stairs. Zhou Chong stared at the corridor in front of him, stunned for several seconds.

It wasn't until Jiang Shengming walked up to him, nudged his shoulder, and held up a similarly thick stack of exercise books in his hand that he asked, "Have you collected them all over there?"

Zhou Chong then came to his senses and hummed in response.

"Let's go then, to Lao Fan's office."
