Chapter 6 Taking Down Zhou Chong

Chapter 6 Taking Down Zhou Chong

Ten years ago, the high school store sold old-fashioned snacks that Jiang Wan rarely bought later.

When Jiang Wan walked into the convenience store, she was immediately attracted by its ancient atmosphere and spent a long time browsing with bright eyes.

3+2 biscuits, Liziyuan milk, QQ candy, and Want Want mini steamed buns!

Jiang Wan filled the bag to the brim and also took two aluminum cans of Nestlé coffee from the freezer.

Since we can't get a freshly ground flat white, we'll just have to make do with this.

Back in the classroom, with about five minutes left before the next class, most students were sitting in their seats, some doing practice problems and others reading.

Zhou Chong and Jiang Shengming also returned from Teacher Fan's office.

Jiang Wan carried a plastic bag of snacks back to her seat. When she passed the last row, she paused, put the plastic bag on her desk, and then pulled out two bottles of plum orchids from it.

One bottle for each person, placed on the table of Zhou Chong and Jiang Shengming.

Jiang Shengming was the first to raise his head, looking at her with a puzzled expression.

Jiang Wan smiled and pointed to Sun Qianyu beside her, "She bought it for you."

Sun Qianyu was startled when her name was suddenly called out. A blush quickly rose to her cheeks, and she pursed her lips tightly together while biting the milk straw.

Jiang Shengming turned his gaze to Sun Qianyu, gave her a bright grin, and said, "Thank you."

"No...no need to thank me." Sun Qianyu quickly waved her hand, lowered her head and sat back in her seat, her earlobes growing increasingly red.

Zhou Chong also looked up at this moment, picked up the bottle of plum blossoms on the table, and was about to return it to Sun Qianyu when he suddenly heard Jiang Wan speak to him.

"Zhou Chong, that bottle was bought for you."

Zhou Chong paused, slowly turning his head to look at Jiang Wan. Before he could say "no," Jiang Wan cut him off.

"Everyone studies very hard in their senior year of high school. It's best to drink more sweet milk in the morning to replenish your sugar levels. Teacher Fan often says that health is the foundation of everything."

Hearing her say that, Zhou Chong's hand froze in mid-air, unable to utter a word of refusal, as if he were being ungrateful.

He slowly withdrew his hand, placed the plum orchard back on the corner of the table, slightly raised his eyelids, and softly said, "Thank you."

Jiang Wan noticed his change in mood, relaxed her brows and eyes, and smiled at him.

Then, Zhou Chong immediately looked away, avoiding eye contact with Jiang Wan, and casually picked up a pen, pressing it against the page of the book.

Jiang Wan was taken aback. Before she could wipe the smile from her lips, she was surprised to find a faint pink blush on Zhou Chong's earlobes.

Bathed in sunlight streaming through the window, it shimmered with a beautiful rose color.

Is Zhou Chong... feeling embarrassed?

She had seen Zhou Chong blush before, though it was rare, and the few times it happened were when they were aroused in bed.

But she had indeed seen it, and knew that Zhou Chong's face would turn red first at the base of his ears, and then slowly spread to his earlobes. His face wouldn't show much redness, and unless you were very familiar with him, you wouldn't even notice that he blushed.

Not to mention, the night before she traveled back here, she had seen Zhou Chong's ears turn red with her own eyes, and the memory was still very clear; she couldn't have been mistaken.

Jiang Wan was stunned for a moment, then her smile deepened.

Zhou, who is seventeen or eighteen years old, is so easily embarrassed?

So cute.

After Jiang Wan turned around and sat down, Zhou Chongcai looked up again, picked up the bottle of plum blossoms on the corner of the table, rubbed it in his palm a couple of times, and then put it in his schoolbag.

In just one morning, Jiang Wan spoke to him more than she had in the entire previous week combined.

Not to mention, she even bought him milk.

Although others were also involved, and although the reasons were plausible, her beautiful eyes actually looked at him with a smile.

At this moment, Zhou Chongcai dared to believe that Jiang Wan was indeed looking at him when she stood at the back door of the classroom before the morning bell rang.

He wasn't mistaken.

-

The schedule for senior high school students is almost the same every day: Chinese, math, English, physics, chemistry, and biology, which are taught in rotation, interspersed with a few self-study periods.

Occasionally, there would be a special physical education class, like a general amnesty, to give them a mental break.

But today is clearly not that lucky day.

Jiang Wan felt like her brain was about to be completely full after a day of classes in a daze.

She tried very hard to recall what she had learned and to keep up with the review schedule, but she was still miles behind her previous level.

That's why everyone says that the senior year of high school is the peak of a person's knowledge level.

That's absolutely right.

Her Chinese and English are fine; her foundation and knowledge are good, and she hasn't lost her sense of language.

She was alright in math. Although she had forgotten many formulas and theorems, she was still very sensitive to numbers because of her past life as an actuary. She also had a solid foundation and could keep up with the teacher's lectures.

But the three science subjects were a disaster.

I've completely forgotten everything about projectile motion, force analysis, calculating Lorentz force, redox reactions, and ion coexistence; I could barely understand it even when I listened to it.

After evening self-study, Jiang Wan carried a backpack full of textbooks and exercise books and went home dejectedly.

Shan Tong had the housekeeper prepare a late-night snack early in the morning: a pot of fragrant longan and red date chicken soup to replenish Jiang Wan's nutrition after a hard day of studying.

After drinking a bowl of chicken soup, Jiang Wan snuggled in her mother's arms for a while before being sent back to her room to take a shower.

After taking a shower, Jiang Wan sat down at her desk, looking at the stacks of reference books and exercise books with a look of utter despair.

She sat there blankly for a while, then slowly accepted reality.

After what happened that day, she had come to terms with the fact that she had been reborn. It wasn't a dream; she had truly returned to the age of seventeen.

Although it's unbelievable, and I don't know how this happened, or even if I can go back, Jiang Wan's consistent attitude towards life is to make the best of it since I'm here.

Since she can't go back for the time being, she might as well think about what she should do if her life were to restart from this moment.

Looking back on the past ten years, Jiang Wan found that she had no major regrets to make up for. In her smooth-sailing life, she did not regret any of the choices she made at each stage.

Except for one thing: her marriage of convenience with Zhou Chong.

Traveling back in time from the future, she had to admit that her 28-year-old self had indeed fallen for Zhou Chong.

But their beginning was wrong. How could they possibly reach the right ending if they kept going down the wrong path?

Like this function problem, if the formula is wrong from the beginning, no matter how you derive it, you will not get the correct answer.

But now, she has the opportunity to choose again.

She and Zhou Chong were high school classmates, and she could use this opportunity to start over with him.

They have a long future ahead of them and can take their time.

Perhaps, if we could do it all over again, the ending would be different.

After figuring all this out, Jiang Wan felt much better.

The current goal is very clear.

Successfully completed the college entrance examination, and also, defeated Zhou Chong.
