I really liked Chapter 43.

Jiang Wan sat on the sofa, turned around, propped her hands on the back of the sofa, rested her chin on her arms, and looked into the kitchen.

Zhou Chong had his back to him, wearing a black apron with thin straps tied in a knot at the back of his waist, outlining his lean and muscular figure.

Broad shoulders, narrow waist, and long legs.

How can this man be so handsome even from behind?

Jiang Wan sighed and shook her head; she was really going to be ruined by him.

In their previous life, the two of them hired a nanny to prepare all three meals a day. She had never eaten Zhou Chong's cooking, nor had she ever seen him cook.

She didn't even know Zhou Chong could cook.

Watching his busy figure in the kitchen, Jiang Wan felt a bittersweet feeling in her heart, a feeling she couldn't quite describe.

She knew too little about Zhou Chong before, and wasted three years of marriage, but fortunately, she now has the opportunity to start over with him.

To get to know each other again, and to fall in love with each other again.

It's never too late.

Soon, Zhou Chong came out carrying two plates of fried rice with eggs.

As he walked towards the restaurant, he glanced back at Jiang Wan on the sofa and said, "Come and eat."

"good."

Jiang Wan got up and sat down at the dining table.

The plate of fried rice in front of me was golden in color, with almost every grain of rice coated in egg, yet it was fried dry and fluffy, and the air was filled with a delicious aroma.

Jiang Wan took a deep breath. "It smells so good."

"Try it." Zhou Chong smiled slightly and handed her the spoon.

Jiang Wan took the spoon, scooped up a full spoonful of fried rice, the rice grains mixed with diced carrots, green peas, corn kernels and ham sausage, and stuffed it into her mouth, her cheeks puffing out.

She chewed the fried rice in her mouth, her eyes instantly lit up, and she nodded vigorously, just like a little hamster munching on sunflower seeds.

Zhou Chong couldn't help but chuckle softly, "Eat slowly."

Jiang Wan nodded, swallowed the fried rice in her mouth, and smiled at him with her eyes crinkling, "Delicious."

"As long as it tastes good." Zhou Chong lowered his head and scooped up a spoonful of fried rice as well.

Jiang Wan ate most of the plate, one bite after another. Just as she started to feel thirsty, Zhou Chong brought her a glass of apple juice and placed it beside her.

"Thank you." She picked up her cup, took a sip, and let out a satisfied "ha," before continuing to scoop the fried rice from her plate.

Zhou Chong poured himself a glass of apple juice and, seeing her eating with such satisfaction, couldn't help but ask curiously, "Is it really that delicious?"

"Yes, it's delicious." Jiang Wan nodded emphatically. "You're such a good cook."

Zhou Chong chuckled and shook his head. "No, it's just that when I'm home alone, I often cook for myself and just make do with whatever I have."

Jiang Wan paused for a moment as she was eating.

She put down her spoon, looked up, and stared intently at Zhou Chong. "This isn't just something I'm making do with; I genuinely think it's delicious, and..."

Zhou Chongyang raised his eyebrows, waiting for her to continue.

Jiang Wan opened her mouth, hesitated, but finally smiled and said, "It's better than any fried rice I've ever had before."

Zhou Chong paused for a moment, then smiled at her and said, "Then eat more."

"Mm." Jiang Wan nodded and continued eating.

After taking a couple of bites, she quietly raised her eyes and glanced at Zhou Chong sitting opposite her.

Actually, what she was trying to say was that he wouldn't always be alone anymore; she would eat with him, study with him, and do many, many things with him.

But then she thought that it would be better to say these things after she had won him over.

She didn't want to put any pressure on him before he fell in love with her.

Jiang Wan gripped the spoon handle, silently thinking to herself that once she won Zhou Chong over, she would definitely make him cook for her often.

Make up for all the things you missed before.

-

After finishing her meal, Jiang Wan couldn't help but feel sleepy.

It must be because I ate too much rice and felt a bit dizzy.

Zhou Chong cleared the dishes and went to the kitchen to wash them. Jiang Wan sat on the sofa waiting for him, nodding her head.

A short while later, the sound of running water came from the kitchen, like white noise with a super hypnotic effect, and the drowsiness could no longer be resisted.

Jiang Wan tilted her head to the side and fell asleep, resting her head on the sofa armrest.

After Zhou Chong finished washing the dishes, he walked into the living room and saw Jiang Wan lying crookedly on the sofa.

She lay on her side on the sofa, her hands under her head, resting on the sofa armrests, her eyes gently closed, her lips slightly parted, sleeping peacefully.

He stopped in his tracks, hesitated for a moment, then turned around and went back to his room to get a blanket.

Given their current relationship, it's inconvenient for him to carry her back to his room to sleep, but letting her sleep on the sofa like that could make her catch a cold.

He walked to the sofa, bent down and squatted down, and gently covered her with the blanket.

Perhaps feeling the warmth of the blanket, Jiang Wan murmured something and nuzzled her head closer to Zhou Chong's hand as he tucked her in.

The warm breath brushed against the back of his hand, Zhou Chong paused, raised his eyes, and his gaze slid over her small, pointed chin before slowly moving upwards.

This was the first time he had ever looked at seventeen-year-old Jiang Wan from such a close distance.

On many mornings that followed, he would wake up to find her still fast asleep beside him.

That was one of the few times he could look at her without restraint.

Just like now.

Her fair and delicate face, slightly curved eyelids, obediently drooping eyelashes, and pink and moist lips seemed not much different from the image of her in my memory.

But upon closer inspection, there are still some differences. Now, her cheeks are rounder, and her apple cheeks are fuller. She is not as refined as she will be later. She has a pure and lovely look that belongs to this age.

Zhou Chong unconsciously compared Jiang Wan from the two periods, only to find that he liked her very much, no matter which one she was.

As if sleeping with her hand pressed down was uncomfortable, Jiang Wan turned over, changing from lying on her side to lying on her back, and her right hand also turned and rose.

Zhou Chong had his head down, and was too close to her. Before he could dodge, a soft touch brushed against his lips.

He froze instantly, the slender white fingertips tracing a path before his eyes without pausing for a moment.

However, the overly clear sensation on his lips made it impossible for him to deceive himself.

He accidentally kissed her finger just now.

Although the person in front of him was still asleep and knew nothing, and this was just an accident, Zhou Chong looked like a child who had done something wrong, his expression panicked and his heart pounding.

Perhaps it wasn't out of nervousness or helplessness, but rather that the heartbeat had its own consciousness and was beyond his control.
