Chapter 44 The Future CEO Zhou
When Jiang Wan woke up, it was already past two in the afternoon.
She stared at the unfamiliar ceiling, blinking hard. Yes, this wasn't her home; this was…
The still-fresh memories quickly flooded her mind. She had lunch at Zhou Chong's house, and after finishing the meal, she felt a little sleepy. Later, she fell asleep without knowing why.
So, she's still at Zhou Chong's house!
Jiang Wan sat up abruptly, the blanket on her shoulder slipped off and landed beside her. She stared at the blanket for a moment, then immediately turned her head away.
Sure enough, I saw Zhou Chong sitting on a single sofa reading a book.
"You...I...I..." Jiang Wan stammered for a long time, then rubbed her hair in annoyance. "I'm sorry, I fell asleep."
Zhou Chong looked up, closed the book in his hand, and smiled faintly without anger or annoyance. "What's there to apologize for?"
He's probably the one who should apologize.
Zhou Chong's eyes darted away for a moment, but his expression remained unchanged. He got up and walked to Jiang Wan's side. "Did you sleep well?"
Jiang Wan, with her long, slightly wavy hair disheveled from sleeping, looked up and nodded shyly, "It's...pretty good."
To be honest, Zhou Chong's sofa is really comfortable to sleep on. It's spacious enough and has just the right firmness. No wonder she fell asleep without even realizing it.
Moreover, Zhou Chong covered her with a blanket, which was soft and warm, making her sleep even better!
"That's good." Zhou Chong sat down next to her, his gaze falling on her long hair, which she had just ruffled a little.
Fluffy hair on top and slightly curled ends also look cute.
"What time is it?" Jiang Wan suddenly asked, getting down to business.
Zhou Chong snapped out of his daze, glanced at his watch, and said, "It's a little past two."
"What? A little past two o'clock!" Jiang Wan's eyes widened instantly. She grabbed Zhou Chong's wrist and looked down at his watch.
"Really..." Jiang Wan let go of his hand in a daze, scratching his head in frustration once again, "How did I sleep for so long?"
Seeing that she was scratching her hair more and more messily, Zhou Chong didn't think too much about it. He simply raised his hand and used his fingers as a comb to help her smooth her hair down strand by strand.
Jiang Wan's hand was still on her head when she suddenly touched a body temperature that wasn't her own. She was startled and shakily withdrew her hand.
Realizing that Zhou Chong was combing her hair, she obediently placed her hands on her lap, lowered her head, and dared not move.
His fingers were long and slender with distinct knuckles, running through his hair, making a strong presence, yet his movements were very gentle.
His fingertips were warm as he stroked her scalp, a tingling sensation that seemed to run down her hair and into her heart.
Jiang Wan swallowed hard, lifted her eyelids, and tried to look around to distract herself.
However, when you look up, you see Zhou Chong's Adam's apple at eye level, slightly protruding, sexy and sharp.
Even worse...
Helpless, she could only lower her eyes and stare at the blanket in front of her.
She didn't know how much time had passed; she had practically worn holes through the knitted texture of the blanket before she finally heard Zhou Chong say, "It's done."
She breathed a sigh of relief and said, "Thank you."
"It's nothing." Zhou Chong smiled slightly, then suddenly looked down at her. "I've never combed anyone's hair before, is this okay?"
"Sure...that's great." Jiang Wan smoothed her hair, her eyes darting around. "Um...are we still going to the library?"
Zhou Chong chuckled very softly, "What do you think?"
"I...I think..." Jiang Wan frowned, trying to appear serious as she thought things through, "I still need to study, the exam is tomorrow, but it's already this late..."
"It's already this late, we probably won't be able to find a good spot at the library," Zhou Chong added for her.
"Hmm..." Jiang Wan lowered her head in shame. "It's all my fault. I accidentally slept for too long. You should have woken me up earlier."
"It's alright. You're sleeping soundly, and I didn't want to wake you." Zhou Chong's tone was relaxed, without the slightest hint of impatience.
But Jiang Wan felt extremely ashamed.
"Then, so now we..."
"If you don't mind, why don't you continue studying at my place?" Zhou Chong raised an eyebrow and looked up at Jiang Wan's schoolbag, which was placed on the other side of the single sofa.
Jiang Wan thought for a moment, "Hmm, that's fine too."
Anyway, it's hard to find a good spot in the library these days, so I might as well study at Zhou Chong's house.
Although her initial intention in going home with him was that it would be more convenient to eat fried rice with eggs, so that she could quickly return to the library to study after lunch.
But this situation may not be a bad thing.
Jiang Wan got up from the sofa and returned the folded blanket to Zhou Chong.
Zhou Chong carried the blanket back to his room, and Jiang Wan followed him, asking from behind, "Where are we going to study? Your room?"
After asking the question, she peeked out from behind Zhou Chong and glanced into his room.
Directly opposite the door is a desk of moderate size, with some books, exercise books, and neatly stacked test papers on it.
This is clearly where Zhou Chong usually studies.
Zhou Chong paused, glanced back at Jiang Wan, and nodded. "Okay, come in."
Actually, there is a study at home, but he usually prefers to stay in his own room.
He had originally intended to take Jiang Wan to the study, but since she had asked, he decided to go to his room instead; otherwise, it would seem as if he had some secrets in his room.
There is indeed a secret...
Zhou Chong thought of the diary in the drawer.
But Jiang Wan wouldn't rummage through his drawers. She wasn't that kind of person; otherwise, she would have already done so back in school.
Zhou Chong put away the blanket and then moved a chair over, placing it next to his desk.
Jiang Wan followed him into the room, glanced around briefly, and sat down at the desk without looking at it for long.
Of course, Zhou Chong's room is completely transparent, and you can't see anything special by looking at it more closely.
The furniture is arranged simply and neatly, with an overall black, white and gray color scheme that matches his consistent aesthetic style.
To make room on his desk, Zhou Chong put the books on the corner of the desk into the bookshelf. Jiang Wan looked up as he did so and saw the spines of those books.
Principles of Economics, Capital, The Wealth of Nations, The General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money...
So Zhou Chong was studying economics so early on?
No wonder, he became a partner at Ronshine Investment Bank just a few years after graduating from university.
I'm so far ahead of everyone else!
Zhou Chong put away his books and turned around to see Jiang Wan staring at his bookshelf. "What's wrong? Which book are you interested in?"
"No." Jiang Wan shook her head, pointing to the row of economics books. "Do you want to work in investment banking in the future?"
Zhou Chong paused for a moment, then said, "Maybe."
Jiang Wan smiled and didn't ask any further questions. She pulled out a physics test paper from her schoolbag and said, "Future CEO Zhou, let's review it."
