Chapter 119 Post-Wedding Extra: Garden Party (Part 5)
The wedding banquet was a buffet held on the outdoor lawn.
After the ceremony, everyone moved to the dining area at the back.
On the other side of the rows of long wooden tables and chairs is a five-story champagne tower.
Surrounded by relatives and friends, Jiang Shengming and Sun Qianyu opened the champagne together.
The pale golden liquid flowed slowly down the top champagne glass, accompanied by cheers from all around.
Happy wedding!
"May it last forever!"
After raising their glasses in celebration, Sun Qianyu went to the dressing room to change into her evening gown, while Jiang Shengming stayed behind to accompany her to the banquet.
Jiang Wan got some food and sat down at a long table with Zhou Chong and other old classmates.
The atmosphere at the buffet was quite relaxed, with many people walking around on the lawn with wine glasses in their hands, and light, melodious music playing in the ceremony area.
A group of old classmates sat together, eating and chatting. As they talked, the topic eventually turned back to their high school days.
"Speaking of which, there weren't many couples in our class who sat together in our senior year of high school. Jiang Shengming and Sun Qianyu were a couple, and Zhou Chong and Jiang Wan were a couple. They've both become husband and wife now."
"Yes, Lao Fan is still quite skilled."
"It wouldn't be bad to work as a matchmaker at a dating agency after I retire."
Hearing her classmates teasing her, Jiang Wan turned her head and exchanged a glance with Zhou Chong, smiled gently, and lowered her head to continue eating the beef short ribs on her plate.
To be fair, Lao Fan deserves some credit for pairing Sun Qianyu and Jiang Shengming. Regardless of their past or present lives, and for whatever reason, Lao Fan arranged for them to be classmates.
As for her and Zhou Chong, that was entirely up to her to fight for.
Although the others present were unaware of the inside story, they simply assumed that her love story with Zhou Chong was also one that went from school uniforms to wedding dresses.
Of course, it's not wrong to say that now.
"By the way, why didn't Lao Fan come today?" someone suddenly asked.
"We should really ask our class monitor about this. Why didn't they invite their matchmaker to the wedding?"
Just as Zhang Chi was turning around to look for Jiang Shengming, Jiang Shengming walked over with a wine glass in his hand.
"What are you talking about? It's so lively."
"We were talking about you." Zhang Chi stood up and draped a sling over Jiang Shengming's shoulder. "What's wrong? You've forgotten your roots now that you've gotten married? You didn't even invite Lao Fan to the wedding?"
Jiang Shengming smiled and brushed his hand away. "No, we invited Lao Fan, but unfortunately, his son is also getting married today, so he couldn't make it."
"His son is getting married today too?"
"What a coincidence?"
"Today is truly an auspicious day."
“There aren’t many good days in the second half of the year, and it falls on a weekend, so I had to book six months in advance to secure this venue and wedding planning team for today,” Jiang Shengming explained.
“Speaking of which, your wedding planning was quite interesting, a garden party.” Jiang Wan said, picking up the wedding candies on the table. “Even the candy wrappers are decorated with your cartoonish hand-drawn figures. Was that Sun Qianyu’s idea?”
Jiang Shengming lowered his gaze to the wedding candy in Jiang Wan's hand, and nodded with a light smile, "Yes, she likes this warm and interesting theme, so I wanted to do my best to help her realize it."
Jiang Wan narrowed her eyes and clicked her tongue lightly, "Look at the male students here, especially those who are still single. They should learn from our class monitor how to be a devoted and filial husband."
“Jiang Wan, you’re not saying this to us properly, are you?” Zhang Chi sat back down on the bench and hooked his arm around Zhou Chong’s shoulder. “We should be teaching Zhou Chong a lesson.”
Jiang Wan glanced back at him and said, "Zhou Chong doesn't need to learn; he's a good husband by nature."
"Huh—"
"Ouch!"
"So this is where they were showing off to us."
The surrounding students burst into strange screams.
Jiang Wan didn't take it to heart, raised her eyebrows, and was about to take a shrimp from the seafood hot pot when a peeled red shrimp was offered to her mouth.
She paused, withdrew her hand, looked up at Zhou Chong beside her, her eyes crinkled, and she opened her mouth to bite the shrimp.
Wow!
"They're really showing off their love."
Zhang Chi shrank back, quickly let go of Zhou Chong's hand, and slunk away to sit on the opposite side.
Jiang Shengming stood by the table, smiling at the two of them. "Jiang Wan is right. Zhou Chong doesn't need to learn from me. I still need to learn more from Zhou Chong."
Amidst the laughter and chatter, Sun Qianyu, dressed in a burgundy evening gown, walked over.
"You two seem to be having a great time chatting?"
Jiang Shengming turned around and put his arm around Sun Qianyu's shoulder. "You've changed into your dress. Why didn't you call me to pick you up?"
Sun Qianyu put her hands on his shoulders and tilted her head, "It's just a few steps. This dress doesn't have a long train, so it's easy to walk in."
Jiang Shengming chuckled and tightened his grip on her arm.
“We were just talking about you two.” Jiang Wan smiled and winked at Sun Qianyu, “saying that Jiang Shengming dotes on you, and the wedding arrangements were all done according to your wishes.”
"Isn't this what should be done?" Sun Qianyu put one hand on her hip and raised her eyebrows smugly.
"Yes, I think that's the right thing to do too." Jiang Wan nodded in agreement.
Jiang Shengming couldn't help but chuckle, then put his hand to Sun Qianyu's ear and whispered to her about Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong's public display of affection.
Sun Qianyu narrowed her eyes, raised her index finger, and pointed meaningfully at Jiang Wan.
"The bride and groom are here, shouldn't it be time for the toasts?" Zhang Chi stood up, looked around, and said, "Let's start with our old classmates."
"Alright, let's offer a toast first."
The staff brought over a tray with several glasses of clear champagne on it.
Sun Qianyu and Jiang Shengming each raised a glass of wine to everyone, and everyone at the table stood up.
Jiang Wan also took a glass of wine from the tray and raised it with the others, "Congratulations on your marriage!"
The various wine glasses gathered together, making a crisp clinking sound.
Afterwards, everyone drank the wine in their glasses.
Jiang Wan had just swallowed a mouthful of champagne when a wave of nausea suddenly rose from her stomach.
She quickly shoved the wine glass into Zhou Chong's hand, but before she could react, a wave of nausea surged up her throat.
She couldn't hold it in any longer and vomited all over Zhou Chong.
The scene erupted in uproar.
Zhou Chong quickly put down his wine glass, supported Jiang Wan with one hand, and deftly unbuttoned his suit jacket with the other, throwing it on the ground.
"Wanwan, what's wrong?"
"I don't know..." Jiang Wan looked up, took the tissue Shi Leyao handed her, and wiped her mouth. "I just suddenly felt nauseous."
"Nausea?" Zhou Chong's face was full of tension.
"Could it be..." Shi Leyao timidly spoke up from the side, "...morning sickness?"
"Pregnant..." Jiang Wan was stunned for a moment. She had only uttered one word when Zhou Chong picked her up in his arms.
Zhou Chong's body reacted faster than his brain. Without saying a word, he picked up Jiang Wan and turned to leave.
Jiang Shengming snapped out of his daze and called out to him from behind, "Zhou Chong, don't you want your clothes anymore?"
"No, I don't want it."
Zhou Chong didn't even turn his head, striding towards the parking lot.
The others turned around blankly, staring at the stained, custom-made suit on the ground.
Tsk, what a waste.
