Chapter 54 So Sweet

Chapter 54 So Sweet

During lunch, Jiang Wan sat in the cafeteria with Sun Qianyu and told her everything that had happened during the long break.

Sun Qianyu wasn't in the classroom at the time. When she returned, she heard people around her talking about it and felt like she had missed a great show. She strongly requested that Jiang Wan tell her the story vividly.

It was a simple and straightforward matter, but at Sun Qianyu's request, Jiang Wan talked for almost ten minutes, constantly being interrupted to ask for more details, until her mouth was dry.

"Damn, Chen Yuewei has such a sharp tongue." Sun Qian said, poking her chopsticks into the ribs. "She even said she'd get extra points for being an arts student, but the results aren't out yet. What's she bragging about? We don't even know if she'll get the extra points."

It was from Sun Qianyu that Jiang Wan learned that Chen Yuewei had taken leave some time ago to go to Beijing to participate in the entrance examinations for art students at several universities.

In her past life, all her memories of Chen Yuewei started from that year's class reunion. As for how she did on the college entrance exam or which university she went to, she really knew nothing.

But it doesn't matter; she doesn't care.

“That’s right.” Jiang Wan took a sip of tomato and egg soup and cleared her throat.

"If I hadn't been there, I would have definitely helped you yell at her until she was crawling on the ground." Sun Qianyu angrily picked up a rib, stuffed it into her mouth and took a bite. "I should have known better than to help Jiang Shengming carry his homework."

Seeing her angry expression, Jiang Wan couldn't help but chuckle and said, "Alright, why do you look even angrier than me? I didn't suffer any loss, but she is the one who lost face and has to apologize to me."

“Hey, speaking of which, Zhou Chong is really something.” Sun Qianyu chewed on a rib, put down her chopsticks, and gave a thumbs up. “Chen Yuewei tried to get close to him to make her presence known, but Zhou Chong didn’t fall for her tricks at all. He’s a true role model of male virtue.”

"Of course, look who's taken a liking to this man." Jiang Wan raised her eyebrows smugly. "How could my taste be bad?"

Sun Qianyu deliberately wanted to tease her, "You have good taste, but I don't know if you'll have the good fortune to live up to it."

After saying that, she immediately picked up her plate and ran quickly to the plate recycling area.

“Sun Qianyu, you…”

Jiang Wan barely realized what was happening when Sun Qianyu turned back as she ran, sticking her tongue out at her. She quickly picked up her plate and followed.

The two put down their plates and walked out playfully, just as they ran into Chen Yuewei who was putting down her plates.

Sun Qianyu glanced at her and said sarcastically, "Wanwan, aren't you also a piano grade 10 student? Why don't you think about taking the art specialty exam?"

Then, he quickly answered his own question: "Oh, you don't need to? That's true. With your grades, there's no need to compete with someone for those extra points. It's a waste of time."

She deliberately emphasized the last four words, pronouncing each one clearly and loudly.

Chen Yuewei paused for a moment, then continued walking forward with a dark expression.

Jiang Wan thought Sun Qianyu was really childish. Although she felt quite satisfied to see Chen Yuewei get the short end of the stick, she still pretended to be humble and said, "I haven't practiced the piano in so long. If I want to take the exam, I'll have to practice all over again. It's such a waste of time."

After saying that, ignoring Chen Yuewei behind her, she pulled Sun Qianyu straight out of the cafeteria.

As soon as she stepped out of the cafeteria, Sun Qianyu couldn't help but burst into laughter. "Wanwan, did you see that just now? Chen Yuewei's face turned black, hahaha."

Jiang Wan glanced at her with a light laugh, "Sun Qianyu, aren't you childish?"

"So what?" Sun Qianyu took Jiang Wan's arm and swayed it from side to side. "You seemed to be having a lot of fun taking on the role just now."

Jiang Wan smiled but didn't say anything, and continued walking forward.

"The more I think about it, the more I regret it. I shouldn't have helped Jiang Shengming get his homework back then. Otherwise, Zhou Chong wouldn't have needed to help. If the two of us had joined forces, Chen Yuewei would have been completely helpless."

After Sun Qianyu finished speaking, she even gave a rather smug "humph".

“That won’t do.” Jiang Wan shook her head seriously. “We still need to give Zhou Chong a chance to make a move. That’s very important.”

Sun Qianyu exclaimed, "Jiang Wan, look at you acting like a spoiled wife!"

"You didn't see it! When Zhou Chong suddenly appeared and used a pen to push away Chen Yuewei's hand that was pointing at me, how cool was that scene!"

"Oh, I didn't see it. You're just keeping me in suspense!"

...

Amidst laughter and chatter, the two returned to the classroom door, just as Shi Leyao came out. Jiang Wan greeted her, "Are you going to Lao Fan's office?"

"Mm." Shi Leyao nodded.

"Okay, go quickly."

Jiang Wan waved to her and walked into the classroom with Sun Qianyu.

Before she even got back to her seat, she spotted the bottle of plum blossoms on the table in the distance.

She smiled, walked over with light steps, picked up the straw that was placed to the side, punctured the packaging film, and took a sip.

"The food in the cafeteria at noon was so salty, and I was so thirsty. Luckily, there was milk available when I got back."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Chong raised an eyebrow. "Salty? I don't think so."

"It's salty." Jiang Wan sat down and took another sip of milk. "Have you had the braised pork ribs?"

Zhou Chong shook his head.

"Right? There was too much soy sauce in the braised pork ribs, it's so salty." Jiang Wan bit her straw and drank half a bottle of milk in one gulp.

Actually, the pork ribs weren't very salty, but this bottle of plum juice was really sweet.

The last class of the afternoon.

After Mr. Fan finished going over the test paper, he told everyone to take the paper home to their parents for signature that evening. He also announced that there would be a parent-teacher meeting next week.

"I don't need to say more about the importance of the mock exam. Since this semester is coming to an end, we'll have a parent-teacher meeting next Saturday afternoon, the last day before winter break."

Old Fan paused for a moment, then said, "This should be our last parent-teacher meeting before the college entrance examination."

A perfectly good notice suddenly became somewhat melancholic after Lao Fan added a last sentence.

"Alright, that's settled then. Go back and let your parents know that you should try your best to attend. If you really can't make it and need to ask for leave, please let me know in advance. Okay, get out of class dismissed."

Before the bell rang, Lao Fan screwed on the lid of his thermos. After the bell rang, he left the classroom with his lesson plan.

Jiang Wan was tidying up her test papers when she suddenly remembered something and turned to ask Zhou Chong, "Is your mom coming to the parent-teacher conference?"

Zhou Chong's father is still abroad, so it's impossible for him to attend. Therefore, it's only possible that his mother is attending the parent-teacher conference.

Jiang Wan felt a little nervous at the thought of meeting her future mother-in-law next Saturday.

"It's hard to say." Zhou Chong shook his head slightly and said calmly, "It depends on whether she's on duty next Saturday and whether there are any emergency surgeries scheduled."

Jiang Wan nodded and didn't ask any further questions.
