Chapter 53 It's none of your business

Chapter 53 It's none of your business

When Zhou Chong returned to the classroom, this was the scene he saw.

Jiang Wan sat comfortably in her chair, arms crossed, legs swinging idly, occasionally lifting her eyelids to glance at Chen Yuewei in front of her.

Shi Leyao sat in his seat, engrossed in doing her homework as if no one else was around.

Standing before the two, Chen Yuewei's face was flushed, and her low side ponytail, hanging down to her chest, rose and fell with her heavy breathing, making her look...

He seems a little embarrassed and angry?

Zhou Chong slowly walked over, and before he even reached the corridor, he heard Chen Yuewei's furious voice.

"Jiang Wan, what are you so smug about? With your current mock exam scores, you still say you want to get into Tsinghua University? That's laughable. At least I... I won't overestimate myself."

"Overestimating yourself?" Jiang Wan raised an eyebrow and nodded. "Yes, you have a very clear understanding of yourself."

"You...you're the one who's overestimating yourself!" Chen Yuewei pointed at her, rambling incoherently, "I can still get extra points for art talent exams, but you're not even qualified for Tsinghua University's independent admissions. Just because your family is rich and powerful, you think you're a princess? What makes you think you're so special?"

Before she could hear Jiang Wan's retort, her outstretched hand was suddenly pushed open by a pen.

The pen casing was made of plastic, but it hurt a lot when I hit my wrist.

"Hiss—" Chen Yuewei cried out in pain, turning her head to retaliate, but unexpectedly saw Zhou Chong's face.

Zhou Chong stood tall and imposing to the side, his thin lips pressed tightly together, his strong brows pressed down, and his gaze fixed on her with exceptional sharpness.

He was still holding that pen in his hand, the most ordinary black ballpoint pen, the one that had struck her wrist like a steel ruler just now.

Chen Yuewei couldn't help but shiver.

“Zhou… Zhou Chong…” She tried to force a smile and said tremblingly, “You… are back.”

Upon hearing this, Shi Leyao immediately stood up from her chair. "Excuse me, Zhou Chong, I was asking Jiang Wan a math question and I sat in your seat for a moment. I'll leave right away..."

"It's nothing." Zhou Chong waved his hand. "Sit down."

Although he was speaking to her, his gaze remained sharp on Chen Yuewei's face, and his voice was like an ice cube sinking into a glass.

It was crisp and cool, with a slight chill in the air.

Shi Leyao paused for a moment, then swallowed hard. "No...no need. I've already asked. I'll go back to my seat now."

After saying that, Shi Leyao took off running outside.

As if remembering something, Chen Yuewei's short-circuited brain began to work again. "Zhou Chong, I just saw Shi Leyao sitting in your seat. I was worried you would mind, so I kindly asked her. Jiang Wan said that she was the one who asked her to sit there, and even scolded me for not being able to control her."

“She’s right.” Zhou Chong slowly withdrew his hand, pointing the pen at Chen Yuewei’s face. “Jiang Wan can do whatever she wants; it’s none of your business.”

"I..." Chen Yuewei's sweet voice stopped abruptly, and she couldn't utter a word for a long time.

Jiang Wan raised an eyebrow at her, almost bursting out laughing.

I've never seen anyone so eager to shoot themselves in the foot.

Chen Yuewei stammered for a while, bit her lip, and stamped her foot in frustration, "I...I'll go back to my seat first."

She had just turned to leave when Zhou Chong called her back.

"Come back," Zhou Chong said coldly. "You haven't apologized to Jiang Wan yet."

"She insulted me first, why should I apologize?" Chen Yuewei was furious.

"Do I need to remind you again?" Zhou Chongqing looked at her with cold eyes. "Even if you get extra points for being an art student, you still won't get into Tsinghua University. But Jiang Wan doesn't need any extra points. As long as she wants, she can get into Tsinghua University."

He paused, then emphasized, "It's not that I don't need it, it's not that I'm not qualified, and it's certainly not that I'm overestimating myself."

Zhou Chong's words were resounding, and students from several nearby tables turned to look at him. Chen Yuewei's face turned pale and then flushed.

“To deliberately fabricate facts and defame others constitutes libel,” Zhou Chong said calmly. “Apologize now, or do you want to escalate the situation further?”

Chen Yuewei bit her lower lip tightly and quickly uttered, "I'm sorry."

After saying that, she turned around and ran back to her seat, slumped onto the table, and her shoulders trembled.

Jiang Wan looked at Chen Yuewei from afar, clicked her tongue softly, and shook her head.

Just as she was about to look away, she suddenly saw Shi Leyao, who was sitting to her right, turn around, wink at Jiang Wan, and then give a thumbs up in Zhou Chong's direction.

She finally couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"What's wrong?" Zhou Chong sat down, puzzled, and turned to look at her. "What's so funny?"

"No, not at all." Jiang Wan winked at Shi Leyao, then turned to Zhou Chong and gave him a thumbs up. "Shi Leyao just praised you for being amazing."

Following her words, Zhou Chong turned his head and glanced in Shi Leyao's direction.

“However, actually, Chen Yuewei can’t out-argue me at all.” Jiang Wan shrugged, leaned close to Zhou Chong’s ear, and whispered to him, “Before you came back, I had already broken her defenses by scolding her.”

Zhou Chong withdrew his gaze and looked down at her.

A pair of round, almond-shaped eyes winked at him mischievously, playful and lively, like someone who had won an argument outside and was now proudly showing off to their family.

Zhou Chong couldn't help but chuckle softly, "Then you're very impressive."

"Yes, I am very capable, and I will not let myself be taken advantage of." Jiang Wan chuckled, "But she still managed to accuse me first. She was the one who came to cause trouble for me first, but she still had the nerve to say that I insulted her first."

Jiang Wan briefly told Zhou Chong what had just happened, getting angrier as she spoke. "If I hadn't scolded her, she would have bullied me to death. And Shi Leyao, she really angered me. This is the first time I've ever heard Shi Leyao say such harsh words."

After listening, Zhou Chong remained silent for a while, then turned to look in Shi Leyao's direction and said to Jiang Wan, "Please tell Shi Leyao that Lao Fan needs to see her and ask her to come to his office during her lunch break."

"Okay." Jiang Wan nodded, and before getting up, she asked again, "Why didn't you tell her just now? Why do I have to go and call her separately now?"

Zhou Chong smiled helplessly, "Shi Leyao left too quickly just now and didn't have time to say anything, so I can only trouble you to make the trip for me."

"Alright." Jiang Wan stood up, then winked at Zhou Chong. "Remember to give me a delivery fee."

Zhou Chong smiled and nodded, "I'll buy you some plum orchards at noon."

"That's more like it."

Jiang Wan tilted her head and smiled, then walked towards Shi Leyao's seat.
