Chapter 111 A Cycle Begins Again, It's Never Too Late
After leaving the classroom, Zhou Chong took Jiang Wan's hand and led her to the end of the corridor, where they turned onto a narrow staircase.
"Where else do we need to go?" Jiang Wan asked, puzzled.
Zhou Chong smiled without saying a word, and continued walking upstairs, pushing open the rusty iron gate.
A cool breeze suddenly blew in, lifting the veil that Jiang Wan had draped over her head.
Jiang Wan knew this place; it was the rooftop of the old teaching building. When she was in school, the teachers were strict, and the iron gate was always locked, so she had never come up here before.
Back in her senior year of high school, she never thought of going up to the rooftop to take a look.
Now, after many years, I'm finally coming to the rooftop for the first time.
She followed Zhou Chong across the iron threshold, and as soon as she stepped onto the rooftop, she heard two familiar voices.
Happy 3rd Anniversary!
Surprise!
Then, confetti and cannon fire filled the air.
Jiang Wan turned around in surprise and looked at Sun Qianyu and Jiang Shengming, who were standing behind the door holding a ceremonial cannon. "Why are you here?"
“Ask your husband,” Sun Qianyu said, tilting her head and smiling.
Jiang Shengming put down the empty ceremonial cannons and took out a camera from his bag. "Come on, eighteen-year-old bride and groom, let's take a wedding anniversary photo."
Jiang Wan turned her head and looked at Zhou Chong, who was also wearing a school uniform, and couldn't help but tear up. "When exactly did you secretly prepare this?"
"Just now." Zhou Chong leaned down, rubbed the corner of her eye, and whispered in her ear, "I just got back today. It was a last-minute arrangement. I didn't have time to book a photographer, so I called Jiang Shengming instead. It was a bit rushed. I hope my wife doesn't mind."
“Of course I don’t mind.” Jiang Wan hugged Zhou Chong’s neck and threw herself into his arms, her eyes sparkling. “I’m so happy, this is the best anniversary I can imagine.”
Zhou Chong held her with one arm and put the other behind her head to smooth the veil that was slightly ruffled by the wind. "As long as you're happy."
The sound of a camera shutter clicking rang out from the side.
Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong looked at each other, smiled gently, and hugged each other tightly.

They took many photos on the rooftop until the sun began to set and dusk fell. Only then did Jiang Shengming put away his camera, and the four of them sat together on the steps.
Sun Qianyu and Jiang Shengming sat side by side, looking down at the photos on the camera.
“Wearing a school uniform and a veil looks so cool!” Sun Qianyu excitedly shook Jiang Shengming’s arm. “When we take our wedding photos, can we come back to school to take them too? I also want to take a set of photos in my school uniform.”
Jiang Shengming looked up from the camera and smiled at Sun Qianyu, "Okay."
Hearing this, Jiang Wan couldn't help but ask, "Are you going to take wedding photos later?"
Sun Qianyu nodded. "Yes, what's wrong?"
"You two..." Jiang Wan's probing gaze darted between the two of them, "When?"
In her memory, after Sun Qianyu and Jiang Shengming broke up in their sophomore year of college in her previous life, they were both single and she had never heard of them getting back together.
At that year's class reunion, the two met again, but they only nodded to each other as if they were strangers, maintaining politeness and courtesy, without much contact.
Until she traveled back in time, Sun Qianyu was still advocating for single life. How come after she traveled back, the two of them are about to take wedding photos?
Sun Qianyu rested her chin on one hand, "We'll have the wedding before the end of the year, and we should take the wedding photos around this month."
"So fast?" Jiang Wan asked instinctively.
“Yes, we’ll let you know in advance once we’ve set the exact date for the wedding,” Sun Qianyu reminded you. “You two really need to make sure you’ve cleared your schedules well in advance, as there are many things to do at the wedding, and we’ll need your experienced hands to help.”
Jiang Wan was stunned for a moment, then turned around and exchanged a glance with Zhou Chong. They both saw the same surprise and relief in each other's eyes.
"good."
"I will definitely help."
Although Jiang Wan originally wanted to ask when the two of them got back together, upon hearing Sun Qianyu's natural answer and seeing the two of them sitting intimately together, she suddenly felt there was no need to ask anymore.
The opportunity itself is not important; what matters is that the outcome of the opportunity is positive.
That's good.
The so-called butterfly effect means we don't need to question the butterfly flapping its wings; we should simply embrace the surging tornado.
The orange sun gradually sank below the horizon, casting a deep red afterglow across the ground.
The roadside trees and tall buildings in the distance were shrouded in a dark, oppressive gloom.
Jiang Wan leaned on Zhou Chong's shoulder, gazing at the setting sun that was about to disappear, recalling everything that had happened in the past, and suddenly sighed, "What a pity, we still couldn't see the fireworks display in the end."
Sun Qianyu chimed in, "Yeah, it's such a pity about our year."
Jiang Wan lowered her eyes, silently thinking about the promise Zhou Chong and she made on New Year's Eve, in the snowy night.
She had been looking forward to that day, but unexpectedly, she was transported back to the present before that day even arrived.
Everything was great after I came back, except for this one little regret.
Of course, compared to the people around me, this is nothing to regret.
Just as Jiang Wan had finished comforting herself, Zhou Chong's voice rang in her ears, "Let's make up for our promise now, okay?"
"Huh?" Jiang Wan turned to look at him, puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Zhou Chong smiled, cupped her face in his hands, and gently turned her head to face the vast sky outside the rooftop.
“Look over there.”
Jiang Wan blinked, looking bewildered.
In the deep twilight, a golden firework suddenly exploded.
Immediately afterwards, colorful fireworks soared into the sky, dazzling the sunset.
"Wow, so beautiful!" Sun Qianyu exclaimed. "Where are they setting off fireworks?"
Jiang Shengming raised an eyebrow, leaned out, and looked past Sun Qianyu and Jiang Wan at Zhou Chong, "This is Zhou Chong's doing, isn't it?"
Zhou Chong glanced back at him, which was taken as tacit agreement.
Jiang Wan looked up at the dazzling display, her eyes welling up with tears, and her nose stinging with a soreness. "Zhou Chong..."
"Hmm?" Zhou Chong lowered his head, his voice slightly soft amidst the sound of fireworks. "The preparations were a bit rushed, and there wasn't time for custom orders. They're all styles that can be bought on the market, but I had Lin Jie pick out the best-looking ones..."
Jiang Wan sniffed, turned around, hugged the man beside her, buried her head in his chest, and listened to his steady and powerful heartbeat. "I love you."
Zhou Chong pulled the person into his arms, lowered his head, and rested his chin on the top of her head. "I love you too, whether it was ten years ago or ten years from now."
"We've gone through so much trouble, it would have been better if we had just gotten together sooner."
"Wanwan, it's never too late for us to start."
It's a cycle that repeats itself, and it's never too late.
