Chapter 46 Don't Be Nervous
After the New Year's Day holiday, I returned to school to take the mock exam.
The exam numbers were assigned randomly, and unfortunately, Jiang Wan and Zhou Chong were not assigned to the same exam room.
Of course, with over fifty students in the class and more than twenty exam rooms in the science stream, it was a low-probability event to be assigned to the same exam room.
Quite coincidentally, her and Zhou Chong's exam rooms were right next to each other. She was in Class 2, and he was in Class 3, and they were both sitting in the third row on the far left by the window.
That's a good spot, Jiang Wan thought.
The official exam started at nine o'clock in the morning. The first subject was Chinese. Since it was still early, everyone stood in the corridor outside the exam room to study and review the five-point classical poetry fill-in-the-blank section.
Jiang Wan found an empty spot by the railing and pulled out her Chinese textbook to cram for the last minute.
I had just finished reciting a classical Chinese text when I caught a glimpse of a familiar figure appearing beside me out of the corner of my eye.
She turned her head away.
Although they saw each other every day during the holiday, he was always dressed in black. When Jiang Wan suddenly saw Zhou Chong in his school uniform, her eyes lit up.
The ordinary blue and white school uniform looks incredibly stylish on him, exuding a refreshing and clean-cut youthful charm.
"Why are you so late?" Jiang Wan asked.
"Is it late?" Zhou Chong raised his wrist and glanced at his watch. "The exam doesn't start for another half hour."
"There's only half an hour left, and we need to get into the exam room fifteen minutes early. There's not much time left." Jiang Wan turned her head and glanced at the corridor. "Look, everyone has come early to memorize their lessons."
Zhou Chong followed her gaze to the crowd, smiled but didn't say anything, only asking, "Have you had breakfast?"
"I've already eaten at home."
After Jiang Wan finished speaking, she noticed that Zhou Chong paused for a moment while rummaging through his schoolbag, so she immediately changed her words: "But I'm a little hungry now."
Zhou Chong paused for a moment, then took out his Chinese textbook from his schoolbag, flipped through it, and took out a bottle of Li Ziyuan liquor. "Drink this first to tide you over. It's best not to eat too much before the exam."
"Oh, okay." Jiang Wan took the milk, bent down and poked the film with the straw, muttering softly, "I thought you brought me breakfast."
She spoke very softly, and with the noise of people in the corridor, Zhou Chong couldn't hear her clearly, only vaguely making out the words "breakfast".
"What?" He lowered his head and leaned closer to Jiang Wan to ask.
"It's nothing." Jiang Wan quickly looked up, biting her straw, and smiled at him. "I said, Li Ziyuan is really delicious, so sweet."
Zhou Chong had a gut feeling that something was wrong; the sentence didn't contain the word "breakfast," but he didn't delve into it further and opened his Chinese textbook.
Before the preparatory bell rang to enter the examination room, Jiang Wan finished her milk, went to throw away the trash, and also went to the restroom before returning to the examination room.
Zhou Chong stood between the back door of Class 2 and the front door of Class 3, helping her carry her schoolbag.
She took the schoolbag from Zhou Chong, took out the transparent stationery bag inside, waved to Zhou Chong, and said, "I'm going in now, you should hurry up and go into the exam room too."
"Mm." Zhou Chong nodded gently.
Before Jiang Wan turned to walk into the examination room, she suddenly felt a warm hand on her shoulder. Before she could turn around, she heard Zhou Chong's voice.
"take it easy."
Then, the warmth quickly disappeared from her shoulder.
Jiang Wan turned around and smiled at Zhou Chong, "I'm not nervous at all about the Chinese exam."
After saying that, she stood on tiptoe and gently patted Zhou Chong's head, "Don't be nervous."
Zhou Chong was stunned for a moment, and before he could react, the girl in front of him had already turned around and run into the examination room.
He chuckled softly, lowered his head, touched the spot on his head where she had touched him, and then turned and walked into his examination room.
-
Jiang Wan is right, she's not nervous at all about the Chinese exam.
Similarly, she wasn't nervous about math in the afternoon, nor was she nervous about English the following afternoon.
What really made her so nervous that she lost her hair was the combined science exam the next morning.
In the past month, she hadn't experienced any decent major exams. For a full 150 minutes, she sat in the exam room, writing rapidly on the test paper, but she still felt that the time was almost not enough.
The moment the exam bell rang, she let out a long sigh, put down her pen, looked at the full page of papers, and rubbed her aching wrists.
It's still because she hasn't mastered the knowledge points and question types firmly enough. In the past, she would never have had this problem.
In her previous life, during her senior year of high school, she always finished the science exams early and had time to check her answers.
Now, let alone checking, it's a miracle if we just manage to finish the test paper as quickly as possible.
Not to mention, there were several questions she wasn't sure about, so she wrote down a bunch of formulas and did some random calculations.
After leaving the examination room, Zhou Chong stood in the corridor with his schoolbag on his back. Jiang Wan walked over with her head down and sighed deeply beside him.
"What's wrong?" Zhou Chong turned around and looked down at her.
Jiang Wan tilted her head back, pursed her lips, and asked, "Do you think... this science exam is difficult?"
Zhou Chong thought for a moment, then tentatively replied, "It's alright?"
Jiang Wan was speechless for a moment, shut her mouth, and said nothing more.
What was she thinking that made her ask Zhou Chong this question?
