Just like in her previous life, she was stopped at the door by a servant. However, in her previous life, it was her uncle who called her back. She didn't want to come here anyway, so she complied with Aunt Feng's wishes and went back on her own.
Unfortunately, she has no intention of going back now.
Qiao Xi stepped forward, sneered, and said, "So I can't go in?"
Aunt Feng blatantly blocked the door with her body and said matter-of-factly, "Madam said that you are now a married niece, so it is inappropriate for you to visit so suddenly."
The eldest maternal uncle's second wife was a woman he brought back from outside two years after his wife's death, simply because she resembled his wife.
However, their backgrounds were worlds apart. One was a lady from a prominent family, while the other was greedy and insatiable. Not only did she ruin her uncle's career, but she also strained the relationship between her uncle and her younger uncle, to the point that her younger uncle rarely appeared at Xiaoxia Villa. Even after her uncle was murdered, the brothers were unable to reconcile.
Aunt Feng said this intentionally, to remind her that once a daughter is married, she is no longer considered part of her family, let alone her niece.
But she didn't seem to understand one thing.
"As the next head of the Bai family, I can come back whenever I want. Who gave you the right to block my way?" Qiao Xi stared coldly at Aunt Feng, her tone leaving no room for argument.
Aunt Feng was taken aback by Qiao Xi's demeanor, but then she sneered and said, "Master was just confused for a moment. What makes you, an outsider, the right to become the next head of the Bai family?"
"Smack!"
Before she could finish speaking, a slap landed directly on Feng Ma's face. Feng Ma's face turned to one side, and she was unable to react for a long time.
Qiao Xi took a step closer to her, her face dark, and reprimanded her mercilessly, "How dare you, a servant, gossip about your master's affairs?"
After realizing what had happened, Aunt Feng covered her face with one hand and looked at Qiao Xi with disbelief.
Qiao Xi gave her a cold look, walked past her and went straight through the door.
"Stop!" Belatedly realizing what was happening, Aunt Feng quickly followed, shouting as she chased after her, "Someone, stop her!"
Qiao Xi hadn't walked far when the bodyguards from the manor surrounded her. Before they could even see who it was, they heard a sarcastic voice from afar, "What are you doing? Are you all blind? Don't you know we are the future successors of the Bai family?"
Upon hearing this, the bodyguards all stopped in their tracks, and no one approached Qiao Xi.
Even without that warning, if they had seen it was Qiao Xi, none of them would have dared to step forward.
Han Qian approached Qiao Xi with a fake smile, pretending to comfort Aunt Feng: "Xiao Xi, Aunt Feng is old, don't take it to heart. She didn't mean what she said."
So, this was all her arrangement, and she was also monitoring their every move through surveillance. Otherwise, how would she, someone who had just come out, know what Aunt Feng had said?
In her past life, out of respect for her uncle, Qiao Xi never held a grudge against them. Han Qian was certain of this, which is why she dared to join forces with Aunt Feng to target her!
Qiao Xi said nonchalantly, "Let's talk about it when Grandpa comes back."
After saying that, she walked into the house without saying another word.
Upon hearing this, Han Qian's expression changed instantly. She subconsciously exchanged a glance with Aunt Feng, then grabbed Qiao Xi's hand, "Xiao Xi, don't bother your grandfather with such a small matter."
Qiao Xi decisively shook off her hand and said coldly, "How can that be? He chose me as his heir. Since Aunt Feng has some doubts about it, we can only ask Grandpa for permission."
Han Qian quickly said, "Your grandfather is old, what if..."
“I’ll take responsibility,” Qiao Xi interrupted her directly.
Hearing this, Han Qian became a little anxious. She quickly gave Aunt Feng a look and said, "Aunt Feng, hurry up and apologize to Xiao Xi!"
Aunt Feng also realized the seriousness of the matter. Although she was extremely resentful, if the master found out about this, even if she was the daughter of the master's savior, she would still be kicked out of Xiaoxia Manor.
She didn't know why Qiao Xi had suddenly changed her attitude today. She would never have dared to tell the master about this before, partly because she was worried about upsetting him, and partly because she didn't want to put the young master in a difficult position. But now...
"I'm sorry, Miss Qiao Xi. I spoke without thinking. Please forgive me, I'm so magnanimous." Aunt Feng bowed and apologized to Qiao Xi.
Qiao Xi remained unmoved and said indifferently, "I don't have that right."
Her status as heir was personally bestowed upon her by her maternal grandfather on her eighteenth birthday, and she also received strong support from her two maternal uncles.
As for the reason, she asked her eldest uncle, whose answer was simple: he and her younger uncle both had their own careers and had no intention of taking over the Bai family, so this heavy burden fell on Qiao Xi's shoulders.
And so, she, an outsider, became the sole heir of the Bai family.
However, my grandfather did not announce this to the public, so almost no one knew about it except within the family.
Seeing Qiao Xi's resolute attitude, at Han Qian's prompting, Aunt Feng pleaded with her, "Miss Qiao Xi, please give me a chance. I promise I won't do it again next time!"
Qiao Xi didn't bother to say anything more to them and started walking back into the house.
Han Qian immediately chased after her, "Xiao Xi, where are you going?"
No matter how much her maternal grandfather and uncle emphasized to her in her past life, she always felt like an outsider.
Although she cannot fully integrate into this place yet, she must act as an heir in order to protect her loved ones.
Qiao Xi went straight to the room here, with Han Qian and Aunt Feng following closely behind.
Before she even reached the door of her room, Qiao Xi saw someone come out of her room.
The moment the door closed, the person who came out saw Qiao Xi. She trembled slightly from nervousness, then forced herself to remain calm and greeted Qiao Xi, "Cousin."
Bai Ruxue, Han Qian's daughter, and her uncle's stepdaughter.
If Qiao Xi remembered correctly, the door to the room was locked when she left, and without the key, she wouldn't have been able to get in.
The only key was on her, but she could see clearly that Bai Ruxue had come out of her room.
Seeing Qiao Xi looking her over, Bai Ruxue quickly said, her eyes darting away, "Cousin, you're here."
Before Qiao Xi could ask any questions, Han Qian quickly stepped in to smooth things over, "Xue'er, your cousin is tired. Let her go back to her room and rest."
"Okay." Bai Ruxue nodded obediently and said, "Cousin, you should rest. I'll let you know as soon as Grandpa and Dad get back."
After saying that, Bai Ruxue, Han Qian, and Aunt Feng hurriedly went downstairs.
