Chapter 110 Confession Amidst the Sound of Fireworks

Zhou Sui was quite surprised to run into Song Qi'an here. She thought Song Qi'an would go to the square in the center of the village with Zhao Xinfeng and the others.

"Are you going to see the fireworks?" Zhou Sui asked.

Song Qi'an shook his head. He had actually gone out with Zhao Xinfeng at first because Zhao Xinfeng said he had invited the Zhou siblings.

He thought Zhou Sui would come along, but when he arrived, he learned from Zhou Yu that Zhou Sui was at home.

In an instant, Song Qi'an lost interest in watching the fireworks and made an excuse to leave.

Although he was supposed to be going home, he couldn't resist taking the road that led past the Zhou family's house on his way back, perhaps hoping to run into Zhou Sui.

Heaven was still on his side. As soon as he walked in, he saw Zhou Sui squatting by the roadside. Song Qi'an walked over without any hesitation.

A brief silence fell between them. Zhou Sui, who had been slightly tipsy at first, was now completely sober.

"Um, shall we set off fireworks?" She was just trying to make conversation; she couldn't just pack up and leave now.

Only after she finished speaking did she remember that she had just asked Song Qi'an, and he said that Song Qi'an did not watch fireworks.

But as soon as he finished speaking, Song Qi'an reached out his hand to her. Zhou Sui gave him half of the sparkler and then reached into her pocket.

Zhou Yuguang gave her sparklers, but not anything to light them.

Zhou Sui glanced at the children not far away. "Why don't we use a few sparklers to exchange for a lighter?"

While hesitating, Zhou Sui suddenly remembered that when she first saw Song Qi'an, he seemed to be holding a cigarette.

So she turned and asked, "Did you bring a lighter?"

Song Qi'an took out a lighter from his pocket, but instead of handing it directly to Zhou Sui, he lit the sparklers in his hand.

"Here, be careful not to burn your hands."

Zhou Sui took the burning sparkler and exclaimed, "So beautiful!" It was like an exploding star.

Song Qi'an glanced over to the side. The girl beside him looked incredibly gentle in the light of the sparks, especially when she smiled.

All those sparklers paled in comparison to her.

“Sui Sui”.

"Hmm?" Zhou Sui waved her sparkler, having a great time.

Are you avoiding me?

"Huh? Ah?" Zhou Sui paused, glancing at Song Qi'an somewhat guiltily. Was it that obvious?

“It’s obvious.” Song Qi’an turned his head to look at the girl beside him.

Zhou Sui gathered the sparklers in her hands together and gave a slightly embarrassed smile. Had she spoken her true feelings?

"I'm not avoiding you." Zhou Sui fiddled with her fingers, momentarily at a loss for words, and also a little afraid to look Song Qi'an in the eye.

"You're quite busy too, managing so many people. I can't let my situation interfere with your work."

She couldn't very well say that my family had misunderstood our relationship, so she could only bring up work.

If we were to actually say it out loud, our simple friendship would probably become awkward.

“Sui Sui, as long as I’m looking for you, I never feel like it will interfere with my own business.” Song Qi’an’s eyes suddenly became deep as they fell on Zhou Sui, and she felt her ears getting hot.

What's going on? Is the alcohol kicking in?

Zhou Sui felt her mind was in a mess, and she was increasingly unsure how to respond to Song Qi'an's words.

Song Qi'an's voice grew lower and lower as he called Zhou Sui's name. Every time Zhou Sui called his name, she felt as if her heart skipped a beat.

"I..." Song Qi'an had just opened his mouth when a loud bang was heard in the air. Zhou Sui subconsciously looked up and saw colorful fireworks blooming in the sky.

Children nearby shouted loudly, "Fireworks! Fireworks!"

Explosions rang out one after another in the air, fireworks reflected on people's faces, and a faint smell of smoke filled the air.

"Sui Sui, I like you."

The calm voice rang in her ears, and Zhou Sui's mind was like a firework exploding.

The difference is that her mind is completely blank at this moment.

Her hands, resting on her knees, were clasped tightly together; her body was tense and she remained motionless.

The fireworks continued to play in the distance, but only one sentence echoed in her mind: Sui Sui, I like you.

Her long eyelashes trembled, Zhou Sui's lips parted slightly, and after a long while she gently moved her neck.

"I...I..." For some reason, Zhou Sui started to stutter, her face showing helplessness and her eyes filled with panic.

Song Qi'an turned to the side, reached out and held Zhou Sui's shoulder, turning her to face him.

"Don't rush. If you don't have anything to say, you don't have to say anything." Song Qi'an's voice was gentler than ever before, slowly calming Zhou Sui's inner turmoil.

Zhou Sui's heart was indeed in turmoil; she really hadn't expected Song Qi'an to like her.

In fact, Zhou Sui's romantic history is quite pale. In her previous life, she encountered that scumbag Chen Zongyue, and the things she experienced later left her with no time to think about these romantic matters.

Even if she could live her whole life again, all she would think about is making money and improving her family's life; she has never considered her own romantic relationships.

Moreover, "Brother Qi'an, as I mentioned in our previous conversation, I only want to do a good job in the family business."

After a few seconds of silence, Song Qi'an said slowly, "I know, but I still want to say this to you."

"You're still young and don't really understand things like relationships. I'm not in a rush for your answer. You can give me your answer in a couple of years when you're a bit older."

Zhou Sui opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, Song Qi'an said, "I'm going to Shenzhen. There are partners there waiting for me to go and make a name for myself."

Zhou Sui's pupils dilated suddenly; in such a short time, she had received far too much information.

“I plan to come back in two years, so you have plenty of time to think about this.”

Song Qi'an stood up and reached out to help Zhou Sui up. The fireworks had ended, and the adults were calling the children home.

"I'll take you home." Zhou Sui was led to the door by Song Qi'an, still a little dazed.

Seeing her puzzled expression, Song Qi'an suddenly reached out and hugged her, then quickly let go as if it were a dragonfly skimming the water.

Even after Song Qi'an walked away, Zhou Sui could still hear his words, "Sui Sui, Happy New Year."

Seeing that receding figure, Zhou Sui suddenly shouted, "Song Qi'an, Happy New Year!"
