Chapter 25 Encounter

"Let's go, to the brick factory!" Li Qiuju rushed out before she could even steady herself.

Just as Zhou Sui rushed out, she heard Old Lady Zhou shouting from behind, "Find a car, go to the roadside and flag one down."

Otherwise, if you walk, it would take two hours to get there, and by then the daylilies would be cold.

"Ah Xu, take Mom to the village entrance to flag down a car." Zhou Sui called to her younger brother. She didn't know the specific situation there, so she needed to carry some money with her just in case.

She had only run a few steps back when she saw Zhang Cui come out. "Sui Sui, why are you back?"

"Second Aunt, I'm going back to get some money." She only had about a hundred yuan on her from selling goods at her stall today.

"I've taken it, let's go." Zhang Cui pulled her niece back.

She had just left late when her mother-in-law reminded her to take some money with her, knowing that her sister-in-law's family was in a hurry, but she hadn't expected this.

"Second Aunt, thank you." Zhou Sui looked at Zhang Cui gratefully.

"What are you saying? We're family, why are you still talking about these things?" Zhang Cui glared at her. The Zhou family has a good family tradition. She has been married into the family for many years and has received a lot of help from her elder brother and sister-in-law. Now that her elder brother has run into trouble and her husband is not at home, she has to help out.

The group rushed all the way to the village entrance but didn't see any cars pass by. Li Qiuju was so flustered that she stammered.

"Sui Sui, we don't have a car, what should we do?"

It's unclear when exactly, but Zhou Sui has become Li Qiuju's pillar of support.

"Sis, I'll go borrow a bicycle and take Mom over first." Seeing that there was no bicycle, Zhou Xu was also anxious.

Just as Zhou Sui was about to nod, she saw a car slowly driving over in the distance. When she saw the license plate number, she rushed over.

As the figure rushed past, the black sedan slammed on the brakes, and a familiar face emerged.

"Song Qi'an, could you please take us to the brick factory in the village ahead?"

Seeing Zhou Sui's anxious expression, Song Qi'an didn't ask any further questions, "Get in the car!"

Zhou Sui turned around and called out. As soon as the group got into the car and settled in, Song Qi'an turned the car around and drove off.

"What happened?" Song Qi'an asked Zhou Xu in the passenger seat.

Zhou Xu looked distressed. "Brother Song, my dad fainted at the brick factory."

No one knew why she fainted or how she was doing now, and the atmosphere in the car was somewhat somber.

Song Qi'an glanced at the rearview mirror. Zhou Sui was sitting in the middle, holding Li Qiuju's hand, her small face tightly clenched.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine." Through the rearview mirror, Song Qi'an met Zhou Sui's eyes.

It's unclear whether this was said to everyone in the car or just to Zhou Sui.

Zhou Sui forced a smile at him, but she couldn't help feeling uneasy, because she had no memory of this incident from her previous life.

The situation was urgent, so Song Qi'an told everyone to sit tight and stepped on the gas pedal quite hard.

The car soon arrived at the village where the brick factory was located. It must have been the end of the workday, as people in work clothes could be seen walking along the roadside one after another.

Zhou Sui tilted her head to look out the window and suddenly shouted, "Stop the car, stop the car!"

Song Qi'an slammed on the brakes, and everyone lurched forward due to inertia.

Zhou Sui pointed to a person outside the window, "Dad, Dad."

The people in the car looked over, and the limping figure was none other than Zhou Dayong.

Zhou Xu was the first to jump out of the car, calling out, "Dad, Dad!"

"Dayong, Dayong!" Li Qiuju called out from the window, unable to open the car door.

Zhou Sui opened the car door, and the three people in the back seat were finally able to get out.

"Ah Xu?"

"Qiuju? Suisui?" Zhou Dayong turned around when he heard the shouts and couldn't hide his surprise when he saw them.

"Why are you here?"

"Dayong, didn't you faint?" Li Qiuju looked at Zhou Dayong anxiously.

"What? What? She fainted? Who said that?" Zhou Dayong turned his body to the side.

“Mom said so,” Zhang Cui replied. “I was listening in on the phone when someone from your factory called.”

He sounded quite anxious on the phone, so why is my brother-in-law standing in front of them like nothing happened?

"That's a lie, isn't it?"

"I didn't faint, I'm perfectly fine!"

Zhou Dayong was standing sideways, and Zhou Sui sensed something was wrong, so she went around to take a look.

"Dad, what's wrong with your head?!"

On the left side of Zhou Dayong's head, a large bump had appeared. Upon closer inspection, Zhou Sui noticed that there was blood on the bump.

In addition, Zhou Sui also noticed that Zhou Da's complexion was very bad. Although he was dark-skinned, his pale complexion was visibly unpleasant.

"Oh my god, what a huge bulge!" Li Qiuju almost fainted when she saw the bulge.

Once discovered, Zhou Dayong had no choice but to weakly smile and explain to everyone.

"It's nothing, I just tripped and fell."

Zhou Sui didn't believe it; how could someone fall like that?

"Dad, get in the car, we're going to the hospital for a checkup."

The head is more vulnerable than other parts of the body, especially since there was blood on the bag. Zhou Sui dragged Zhou Dayong into Song Qi'an's car.

"No, why go to the hospital?"

"There's a barefoot doctor at the village entrance. You can just go there and get some medicine for a few cents."

"Isn't going to the hospital a waste of money?"

If Zhou Dayong hadn't run into them on the road, he would have been at the barefoot doctor's house by now.

"No way." Zhou Sui insisted, "What problem can be found just by applying medicine?"

Zhou Dayong also insisted, holding onto the car door and refusing to get in.

Song Qi'an advised from the side, "Uncle, just listen to Sui Sui and go to the hospital for a check-up. That way, everyone will be at ease."

Song Qi'an had been silent the whole time, but when he suddenly spoke up, Zhou Dayong's attention was immediately drawn to him.

"What is this?" He looked at it and it seemed familiar, but he couldn't quite place it.

Zhou Sui immediately gave Zhou Xu a look, and the two siblings worked together to push Zhou Dayong into the car.

"Could you please go to town again?" After getting the person into the car, Zhou Sui realized that she hadn't greeted the driver yet.

Song Qi'an opened the passenger door for her.

On the way to the hospital, Zhou Dayong recounted the events in detail.

He did indeed faint at the brick factory. His body couldn't take the prolonged exposure to the high temperatures, and he simply collapsed to the ground.

The bump on his head was from that time. Luckily, he had already left the brick kiln; otherwise, if he had fallen inside, he would have had a very slim chance of survival.

When they saw that he had fainted, the workers at the brick factory panicked and called the Zhou family.

The brick factory owner wasn't there, and the workers didn't know what to do, so they carried the person to the workers' shed.

Someone pinched Zhou Dayong's philtrum, and Zhou Dayong woke up. He didn't know that his coworker's family had called.

All I know is that I'm going home tomorrow, and I can't go back with such a big bag on my back, otherwise my family will worry.

If he stayed at the brick factory, he wouldn't even be willing to spend money on applying medicine.

Upon hearing this, Li Qiuju couldn't help but raise her hand and slap Zhou Dayong a few times.
