Chapter 34 Getting Angry

"Old Zhou, you still do this kind of work at home?"

“We men work ourselves to the bone outside, so we should just lie down when we get home. These chores are for women to do.”

Zhou Dayong placed the dishes on the table and said with a smile.

“I’ve been resting at home for a few days now, so serving a dish is just a piece of cake.”

Zhou Sui carried the dishes inside, glancing at the man who had just spoken.

He wasn't tall, looked thin and small, and sat in a slouching manner.

Zhou Sui's eyes darkened when she saw him put one foot on the stool.

"Old Zhou, is this your daughter?" one of the men asked.

"Yes, it's my daughter, Zhou Sui."

"Sui Sui, this is Uncle Gao, this is Uncle Chen, and this is Uncle Wang."

After Zhou Dayong finished his introduction, Zhou Sui called out to each of them in turn.

"Your daughter is really pretty." Uncle Chen was the one who spoke first, and he was the one who asked the question at the beginning.

In the village, when people praise someone's good looks, they all say "handsome."

“Not only is her daughter pretty, but didn’t you hear Old Zhou say that she made these dishes? They smell really good.”

Uncle Gao, who was next to Uncle Chen, also praised him.

Zhou Dayong smiled proudly, "My daughter is amazing, you'd better have a good taste later."

"Dad, I'll go and bring the rest of the dishes over."

Zhou Sui said something and turned to leave, still faintly hearing what the man surnamed Wang was saying.

“Old Zhou, just sit down. Serving dishes and rice is for women. We men shouldn’t do these things.”

"You can't say that. We'll help out as much as we can. There are a lot of things to do, big and small, at home."

That's Zhou Dayong's voice coming from behind.

When Zhou Sui arrived at the kitchen, she frowned as she looked at the few dishes left. She really didn't want to give such a good meal to that person surnamed Wang.

But there were other people besides him.

Zhou Sui brought the dishes over again. If that guy surnamed Wang said anything unpleasant again, she wouldn't be surprised if she retorted.

"Let me tell you, my wife used to be so disrespectful to me."

"What am I working so hard for all day? It's all so that she can have food and clothes. Damn it, how dare you talk back to me? I'll beat you up and you'll behave."

Zhou Sui stopped in her tracks when she heard this.

"Old Zhou, did the method I taught you work? If your wife doesn't listen to you, you have to beat her. The man is in charge of the household. Women don't even earn money, so what right do they have to talk?"

Uncle Wang propped himself up on his knees, looking incredibly smug.

Zhou Sui tightened her grip on the plate, quietly took a step back to hide herself, and looked at Zhou Dayong.

"Hey, why hit your wife? I won't hit her anymore, I won't hit her anymore."

“My wife works hard every day. She manages so much land at home, and she doesn’t let me worry about feeding the children or doing laundry.”

Zhou Dayong rubbed his hands together. "What kind of family is this, fighting all the time? Old Wang, don't get so angry as soon as you get home. It's more important for the couple to live a good life together."

Uncle Wang glanced at Zhou Dayong with a hint of disdain on his face.

"Old Zhou, I'm doing this all for your own good."

“Look at us brothers, we’re all perfectly capable. Our wives at home wouldn’t dare say anything or have any other thoughts.”

"Your leg is lame, or to put it bluntly, disabled. Aren't you afraid your wife will look down on you?"

Zhou Dayong's face immediately turned ugly.

Uncle Gao, who was standing nearby, quickly tried to smooth things over, "Old Wang, don't talk nonsense. I don't think Sister-in-law Zhou is that kind of person. She was very friendly when we arrived."

"Who knows if it's true or not, Lao Zhou, I'm telling you, you have to listen to me. If there's anything you can't bring yourself to do, just drink a couple of sips of wine..."

"Enough!" Zhou Dayong suddenly stood up and slammed his hand on the table, his face as cold as ice. "Old Wang, my family is perfectly fine, we don't need what you're saying!"

The three people at the table were startled, and Uncle Wang instinctively took his foot off the stool.

After a while, he realized what he meant. "Old Zhou, what do you mean? So, I was trying to help you and giving you advice, and it turned out to be wrong?"

"You're lucky you didn't get a beating for coming up with such a terrible idea."

A cold voice came in.

When Zhou Dayong turned around and saw that it was Zhou Sui, he visibly panicked.

“Sui Sui…”

"Dad, take a rest over there for a while." Zhou Sui walked past Zhou Dayong and slammed the dishes she was carrying onto the table.

Afterwards, Zhou Sui felt a little regretful. Fortunately, the bowl used to hold the food was of good quality; it would have been such a pity if the bowl had broken and the food had spilled.

However, this release has actually boosted Zhou Sui's morale considerably.

She was standing, while Uncle Wang was sitting; he had to look up at her to see her.

"You're the one who taught my dad to hit people?" Zhou Sui's eyes were like poisoned knives.

Uncle Wang braced himself on the stool and shifted his buttocks back a little.

"Yes, what happened?"

"You little brat, who gives you the right to interrupt adults? Be careful, or I'll get your dad to beat you to death."

As he spoke, he turned to look at Zhou Dayong.

“Old Zhou, that’s just how your kid is. Let me tell you, in my family, if I give her a look, she won’t dare to utter a single word.”

“That was in your house. If it were in my house, I could kill you.” Zhou Sui suddenly reached out and grabbed the stool next to her and raised it.

The expressions of the four men in the room changed drastically in an instant, and Uncle Wang reacted quickly by dodging away.

Before he could even stand up straight, there was a loud bang as Zhou Sui slammed the stool she was holding onto the spot where he had just been sitting.

Uncle Wang's legs, which were already standing straight, suddenly went weak. The other two people who were standing quickly stood up, afraid that the stool would fall on them.

"Sui Sui!" When Zhou Dayong saw that his daughter was actually serious, he stepped forward and tried to take the stool from her hands.

Zhou Sui didn't give him a chance at all, turning around to look at Uncle Wang.

Uncle Wang was so scared that he ran directly behind Zhou Dayong.

"What kind of skill is it to act tough at home? If you're not good at beating your wife, then don't hide."

Zhou Sui raised the stool high in her hand again and started cursing at him.

"You think beating your wife makes you look tough? You better watch out, one night when you're asleep your wife might stab you to death."

"What era are we living in? You still expect women to serve you? Are you missing a hand or a foot? It's one thing to act like a lord at home, but to come to my house and boss me around? Who gave you the nerve? You shameless bastard."

"You dare to bring up my dad's feet? No one in our family has ever complained about them. But you, you keep bringing this up. What are you thinking?"

"Don't think I don't know your filthy thoughts. You know in your heart who looks down on whom."

Zhou Sui grew angrier with each curse and gradually approached Uncle Wang, saying, "Dad, get out of my way. I'm going to beat him up today and show him what it feels like to be beaten."

"Old Zhou, you better control your daughter. If she hits me, you'll all be in trouble."
